Wow, a thread full of posts by degenerates who aren't in the affected tax brackets on a messageboard for students of a university funded by tax revenue, with an extra helping of nonsensical and outright wrong "arguments" against higher tax levels and government in general.Classic.

who is a degenerate? who here pays nothing into taxes? student or not does not matter. we vote and pay into the system. we have a say as to how that money is spent. take your pathetic attempt at humor and trolling to shit shat or add an opinion.

Flat Tax.that is all.
6/12/2009 7:45:36 PM
I like a flat tax or sales tax, though there may be issues with a sales tax only option

Legalize and tax gambling and marijuana.that should take care of it
6/12/2009 7:50:26 PM
yeh, those would help. i don't really care for the weed thing though. But I don't care so much against it that I would really have a problem with it being legalized.
6/12/2009 7:51:50 PM
I'm not a weed fan either. But statistically speaking, i think booze should be illegal before weed.

Did you hear about that dude that won the Powerball? It was at like $211 Million and he ended up with $80 Million on the lump sum after taxesnot that $80 Million isn't the shit, but look at all that free money Uncle Sam got.

"we won't take money from education because of the lottery"fucking crooks. don't get me wrong, I love the lottery. I hate crooked NC politicians. lefties and righties.
6/12/2009 11:06:51 PM
All I know is I see all those billboards talking about the hundreds of millions of dollars that I could win in the "Education" Lottery, but yet Guilford County Schools is cutting almost 100 jobs.DOES NOT COMPUTE
6/12/2009 11:17:23 PM
^ That is the magic of the "Education" Lottery....All the $$$ was supposed to and IS going to education, but they basically took all the money that Education is getting from the lottery and deducting that amount that education was getting from the general fund so the net increase that the schools are realizing is zilch
6/12/2009 11:21:59 PM
No, the beauty is that our politicians called it an "Education" Lottery so it would pass, knowing full well that we would use that shit for other means.
6/12/2009 11:24:00 PM
I don't give a shit what they call it, but I'm glad we have it. too bad the crooks couldn't keep their word about how it would affect education budgets.

Higher taxes distort human behavior, causing those affected by the taxes to engage in ever more extreme methods of tax avoidance. As such, raise the taxes on the rich and the non-rich will have their incomes fall relative to what they otherwise would have been, and as payment the government may collect less revenue. Taxes have an optimal level where the negative externalities are outweighed by the tax revenue collected. The question is, who seriously believes tax rates are not already above this point? Afterall, the rich are already rich and will still be rich no matter what the legislature does. It is the rest of us that I am worried about.

For those that are not opposed to higher taxes on people making more then $200,000; have you done the math on how much is getting taken out of your paycheck.
6/13/2009 6:32:41 PM
^ what does that have to do with anything?
