ok so after some downtime with the dry rotted tires, the time to resurrect the mower is coming up soon (after Thanksgiving probably). I'm looking back through this thread. If I get the 3.5" pulley, how do I know what size belt I would need? What about this idler pulley, what size does that need to be? Can I get all the stuff at one place? What size rear tires should I go with? I guess I need to measure clearance for that though.

I'm trying to put together a shopping list/budget. I would prefer to purchase locally.

i would get the green kevlar belt from napa, you can get them in any length in 1" increments

belt length (my formula)

(centerline shaft to shaft)*2 + (diameter drive pulley)*3.14/2 + (diameter driven pulley)*3.14/2 + (total travel of idler past straight line pulley to pulley)/2 = belt length

or you can just go trial and error

alright a new mower project is starting. We have recently been given a new mower with a 22hp twin cylinder and pulleys already installed. It hasn't run in a couple years and a lot of the wiring is messed up. But from what I'm told, this thing will do wheelies in the low gears and top out at at least 20mph. We're currently working on a no-start condition.

the old mower has been passed on to a friend who mostly pouring transmission fluid into the carb to produce as thick of smoke as possible, much more hardcore than the vid above

I, too, have a new mower project. Husqvarna with a 15HP B&S engine that I think has a burned up hydrostatic transmission (going to check it out during the day when I can see what's up). It's going on Craigslist tomorrow.

Anybody want to buy it? Hopefully I can find someone who wants a solid engine, body, bagger, or deck to take it off my hands for parts.

I guess you'd have to be there to appreciate such immaturity...

my buddy and the new mower he contributed (he didn't have room for it and needed it gone). It had sat for two years, so we had to charge up the battery, put fresh gas in it, fix a couple bad switches that were preventing the starter from turning, etc.
