Complex is my preferred arena, although I got to know the Temple pretty well.

With the C buttons assigned to movement, you are moving forward and strafing at max speed. They are digital buttons, push the top C button you move forward at 100% speed forward, push the left C button you move at 100% speed left. Push both at the same time, viola, run strafing.

"Perfect Dark was the greatest game for the N64 period. My cousin stayed at our house one summer and brought it. By the end of the summer we were playing 2 (him and me) vs 8 (sims set to 'dark' difficulty) matches with everyone invisible and we were able to shut out the the other team."

haha yeah okay. shutting out (hell even beating is hard) 8 dark sims is impossible. i don't give a flying fuck how good you think you are. it's impossible.

I was the master at both this game and Goldeneye. I got every cheat, beat the game on every difficulty, and damn near knew every map like it was my own room.

With that being said, I will probably beat you when this game comes out later this year.

probably my greatest video gaming accomplishment was getting the invincibility cheat on the facility in goldeneye. sure i had help from the guide, but there was so much precision involved and everything had to be just so

ahh, good times

^Exactly. I had to read a guide to learn how to do it, but even then it boils down purely to skill and luck. Especially luck, because that rat bastard scientist wanted to never appear at the end of the level.

that is the only cheat I haven't unlocked. it's ridiculously hard. I'm pretty proud of my 59 second archives record though even if it's still like 7 seconds from the world record.

this is what those in the know call a "glitch" in the goldeneye engine. no one knows if it will be ported over or not. if it is, it will presumably with with the sticks.

but even if not, there's no reason to be all butthurt b/c you can't run-strafe faster than maximum speed anymore

^ What is Stream? Also is GE Source finished yet? I thought they'd been working on the Beta version thing for a while.

This was actually easy if you knew what to do.

Easiest was on the Facility, with a laptop gun set up outside one of the rooms, you have the farsight, and you just block the door with your body.

simple.

This is fucking bullshit. My 360 broke for the 2nd time and I was dying to play this. Hell, I even started this motherfucking topic. Fuck you Microsoft and your shitty systems.

"not that im the biggest fan of dual sticks, but come one. it is basically the same thing except that the sticks give you more precise control. it is like dpad vs stick for movement, sure you could do it on either but stick is nicer."

No.

Its not the same thing. C-up and C-down is for looking up and down. C-left and C-right is for strafing. You can do these independently or at the same time on the 64 controller. With a dual stick, holding diagonal-up is not the same thing and wouldn't be a strafe and looking up. Buttons allow you to do more than the limited choice of uni-direction with the stick.

So then you will say, well, that is why strafe has been moved to the left stick and now the right stick is only for aiming (no movement). The problem I have with this setup is that I can no longer strafe with the right c-button AND move forward with the left stick. The dual stick setup restricts the player to only either moving forward OR strafing left and right.

For N64 novices and people who only grew up on the dual stick, they may not see this as a big difference or even that important. But for folks such as myself who spent years on perfect dark, this control method is as good as it gets."

i played my N64 religiously, but dual stick on my xbox winz.

btw

PD > Goldeneye

sure the bond factor is a + but PD is the game engine of goldeneye but better,

nintendo really needs to re-release goldeneye for the wii, with modern graphics and wii-remote aiming.

they could even keep the old four button C controls but put them on the D pad, cycle weapons with C and Z

all that in a wii zapper would be the ideal game play for the greatest game of my childhood

Nintendo can't rerelease GE64 and Microsoft can't either. Microsoft had GE64 ready just like Perfect Dark to release, but Nintendo got all pissed about it. I'd love to see the Wii get their own version of GE with motion shit and for the GE XBLA version to get released.

the control argument still boggles me. the movement is the same. the fact that newer games are more fair (I guess) by making you move at consistent speed no matter the direction isn't a different control scheme.

Is there a way to join a game or game lobby or do you have to go about creating your own search and finding a game like that? I can't find anything where you can just be put into a game lobby like in CoD or Halo - the online part is somewhat confusing to me.

I don't mind the movement though. It gives 3 options for controls and you move faster than you do in games made today. Not an issue in my eyes.

So does anyone have any hope at all for Perfect Dark 2? I know Rare isn't Rare anymore since they got sold to Microsoft, part of it broke into Free Radical (now Crytek UK), but I just don't want that shitty Perfect Dark Zero to be the last Perfect Dark game. Hopefully the sales for the XBLA version of the first one are high and this will push them to do another.

Yes, I know I'm late as hell to the (new) PD party.....but I finally got my 360 fixed and have been playing the bejeezus out of this game.

Problem is, since I'm late to the party, there is nobody online playing this anymore. It takes me 10 minutes to find one goddamn person for co-op.

My GT is Capt Rehab. Please send me a request if there is actually anbody else still playing this.
