Umm, you guys do know that one of the big features this year is variable speed. At least offline, the default speed is slow.I like the slow speed, as it allows me to see the holes easier and react better. If you don't like it, kick it up to normal.

in order to do the online franchise, you have to pay for it?
8/21/2009 10:29:26 PM
only if you bought the game used...otherwise the code is on your manual

Running gets much easier when you get used to the differences. In 08 it seemed like your best friend in the run game was space. I would get in a single back 3 wr set and just run it straight up the middle for 6 yards every time. This year it's all about blocking, because the D collapses on the ball much quicker. But all you have to do is pay attention to what the defense is doing, make liberal use of the flip play and run audibles, and follow your blockers. If you don't like the look of a defense then flip the play or switch from an outside pitch to an inside sprint. It's also much easier to run if you have a decent fullback blocking for you.I just racked up 212 yards and 2 TD on 25 carries with D. Williams. And Stewart added 50 yards on 11 carries himself. This was against the Bucs.

have they taken away the training mode in franchise? I cant seem to get it to come up like in '09
9/3/2009 8:43:19 AM
Yeah that training stuff is gone, but progression seems more realistic. although I've noticed over the course of a franchise that made up players drop off in skill younger than real players. Drafted players start dropping after 7 to 11 years depending on position, while people like Haynesworth, Peyton Manning, Ed Reed, and Asamogua (however its spelled, raiders CB) can stay at or near 99 until they retire at 40.I've also noticed that the players in the draft aren't really randomly generated, but rather come from a pool of premade players. I have noticed the exact same players come up in all 3 of my franchises. If you ever have the chance to take a QB named Ace Garrison, do it, he'll be 98 overall in 3 years. DT Alvin Monroe is also incredible, gets up to 97, since good DT's are really hard to find.

Also, I was just doing some scouting and saw a 6'3 QB out of Florida with a 4.58 40 time named Tim TribowI'm sure it was just a coincidence.

9/4/2009 2:46:24 PM
Well yeah, but it's more important in this one.
9/4/2009 2:54:50 PM
just picked it upcreated russell wilson in superstar mode...drafted by the raiders lol
9/8/2009 7:38:39 PM
^ did you find they don't give you enough points to even make a half decent QB? The addition of stats like short, medium, and deep throws stretches those 100 points incredibly thin, especially if you want to be even semi mobile. On the other hand, I haven't tried it yet but you could probably make the most awesome kicker ever right off the bat.
9/8/2009 8:00:34 PM
^Yeah I did notice that...I tried to focus on speed, acceleration, injury and arm strength mostly...but i quit about half way through the first preseason game to get a regular franchise going with the Panthersweek 1, CAR 31, PHI 21, Deangelo Williams with 3 TDsweek 2, CAR 23, ATL 17, D-Will 1 TD, S. Smith 1 TD, Jake with the pick six, Kasay with 3 FGsthe highlight shows between weeks are pretty cool, as are the more realistic tackling and falling...very pleased with the improvements from 09

ha, apparently it's coming out for the mePhone
9/9/2009 4:46:43 PM
So I decided to redo Super Star mode, this time taking Anthony Hill of the Texansmuch more fulfilling...4 catches for 45 in the first game with 9 pancake blocks, including some key blocks for Slaton's 71 yard TD reception...w00t
9/9/2009 6:49:10 PM
I tried Andre Brown, but Coughlin kept calling HB stretch plays which got blown up behind the line every play.
9/9/2009 8:32:22 PM
^^ That gave me the idea to try a tight end. The start every stat at 65 is really conducive to a tight end, since they are expected to be pretty good at a lot of things but don't have to be great at any.Made a huge 6'7, 275 lb tight end and put 5-10 points in str, spd, acc, awr, agi, jump, catch, spectacular catch, run block, run block strength, run block footwork, and impact blocking. Ended up a 79 overall as a rookie.Didn't touch injury, toughness, or stamina. I would rather be good for half the offensive snaps than be mediocre in all of them. Since I don't have to play or watch the ones I'm not in it's no big deal.Drafted by the Bills, first game vs Pats I didn't see much action, 6-13 L. Next game vs bucs was awesome. Had 6 catches for 80 yards, but my favorite play was this HB sweep on the TB 20. Ball pitched to lynch, I block the olb away from the play, pancake the shit out of the corner coming in from the side, then sprint upfield and cut the legs out from under the safety.Result: 6 points.EDIT: I wish I could get a screen cap of supersim mode. with 13 seconds left in the half, somehow Drew Brees just rushed for a 56 yard TD.WTF[Edited on September 9, 2009 at 10:47 PM. nice...i always liked playing as a TE in NCAA Football's Campus Legend mode...the combo of catching passes and scoring points, with knocking the piss out of linebackers and defensive backs is satisfying
9/9/2009 10:48:44 PM
I think forcing fumbles is too easy with the left bumper...i'm on all pro, maybe its harder on all madden, but it happens kind of frequently when i'm on defense and trying to strip itmaybe its just JOHN FOX FOOTBALL
9/11/2009 12:38:56 AM
I traded Peppers, Delhomme, and a 1st round pick to San Diego in my franchise for Rivers and Merriman...solid
9/11/2009 8:00:20 PM
Hi I'm Fran (a guy), here's Alex (a girl) to do everything else
10/8/2009 10:52:58 PM
That is annoying. Why is that guy even in there?
10/8/2009 10:58:26 PM
i just noticed he also say something like "and here's a look at the division standings" but not much else...dunnoI'm trying to get MVP for Deangelo in my franchise...Cats are 10-0 and he already has over 1500 rushing yards and 1000 receiving lol
10/8/2009 11:35:59 PM
I love how I'm playing the Eagles right now and they're about 75% run through two drives.
10/9/2009 12:51:38 AM
yeah, the yardage for 5min quarters doesn't exactly reflect real life. i think i have more touchdowns than any other team in the league, but i'm 2nd to last in rushing and 10th in passing.the offline franchise really makes me want to join an online franchise. i enjoyed the ncaa online franchise, so i can't imagine not enjoying madden's more.
