In a comic it may look ok, but in a live action movie I think it looks kinda ridiculous.

Also, to me it looks like plastic as opposed to metal. That doesn't help things.

It does look similar to the original, but often (usually) the original version of a character isn't the best look, especially for a live action version.

I'd prefer this more recent look

But I guess that wouldn't work with Anthony Hopkins.

The campiest thing was the sound effects during the fight scene. Other than that I liked it.

It's annoying that they don't seem to be making Thor very powerful in this though, plus Mjolnir is too small for my liking.

I'm actually kind of excited to see how this turns out. Seems promising.

I can't help but think though, that this whole franchise has been started just so that there's some backstory for Avengers.

Saw a screening of this last night. It was my first 3D movie, wouldn't recommend seeing it in 3D. But I gave it about a 7.5-8 out of 10. It was on the same level as "The Incredible Hulk"(Ed Norton) but not as good as the first "Iron Man".

I must admit, the reviews I am reading describe it in a surprisingly good light.

I didnt think it was possible to make this good.

I thought it was pretty good, don't go in expecting an academy award movie though. The visuals were amazing. Be sure to hang out after the credits too.

really enjoyed it. i'd put it about on par with iron man 2. that said however....

SPOILER

i'm kinda bummed at the after credit stuff. i thought it was gonna be the infinity gauntlet or something in that case. loki turning back up isn't really "sit through the credits worthy." is stellan skarsgard's character someone of note in the comics? i'm not as familiar with the avengers as other marvel characters

END SPOILER

^I too was disappointed, but I googled it and the contents of Nick Fury's brief case are apparently of quite a bit of importance in the Marvel universe.

^^ Well since the Infinity Gauntlet made it's appearance earlier in the movie, it makes sense that it wasn't in the stinger.

And yeah, the Cosmic Cube is kind of important as far as superweapons that were missing from the Asgaardian vault go. At least I am assuming it was what once occupied the empty pedestal as they panned by.

Really enjoyed this movie. If you can see it w/o 3D I'd recommend doing so, just not worth the extra money since the 3D isn't that great.

The contents of the briefcase will be central to the plot of Captain America. It's pretty much what the Red Skull will use as the source of his power.

Awesome movie, btw. Best Marvel movie since Iron Man.

Awesome movie. Loved it. I am liking the how Marvel is keeping the momentum. They did an excellent job with Thor. Action was great, acting was standard comic acting, and plot was well done.

Bring it on.

dammit i'm gonna need a screen shot of that. really want to see it but don't want to pay another $9 for the privilege

here's a picture from comic-con. maybe i'm just so used to the leather glove from the comics that it didn't even register in the movie

kinda hard to believe (or maybe just humorous to confines of the movie) that this thing can control the universe, and it was just another addition to the vault while some frost cube was front and center.

Oh yeah, loved the Hawkeye cameo, too.

Well technically it's the gems in/on it that allow the whole "control the universe" thing. The gauntlet is just where Thanos put them.

^ In the comics, the gems are NOT kept with the gauntlet (the Illuminati each have one hidden) - having all of the gems in one place is just WAY too risky for someone to come up and gank.

And yes, the Cosmic Cube is a huge deal in Cap. However, with it's appearance, I am seriously wondering what the Avengers movie is going to focus around. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the cube came waaaaay after the Avengers were formed (so I doubt we're gonna see an Avengers true origin, with it being centered around dealing with Hulk).

Oh, and about the movie. It was good, entertaining. But NOT better than Iron Man. I may be partial, but, still good.

well they are with the gauntlet when thanos has it, but i'm talking about in the movie where they apparently showed the gauntlet in the asgard vault. were the jewels with it, or was it just a golden glove? if it's the former, then that's why i thought it was weird that it would be just another relic on display.
