Batting .432 since June 1st.

best hitter in all of MLB right now.

Nate MclOUTh and his .168 BA disagree.[Edited on July 26, 2010 at 4:38 PM. Reason : fg]
7/26/2010 4:29:52 PM
still killing it. I think his BA is 25 points higher than anyone in the league right now.going to see them in baltimore this week.will get my authentic "claw and antlers" rangers t shirt while there
8/16/2010 3:40:48 PM
Rangers should win the world series just by virtue of the claw and antlers.
8/16/2010 4:17:05 PM
agreed.

I count three in '98 who were healthy and 36+ with an OPS > .800, and Tony Gwynn wasn't even that healthyNot sure what the point is
8/17/2010 4:00:32 PM
Nice selective sampling thereI count eight such players in 2004 alone
8/17/2010 4:10:52 PM
98 was pretty much the peak of guys staying around longer than they should to swallow horse pills and hit home runsI've been Verducci'd[Edited on August 17, 2010 at 4:15 PM. Reason : But nice selective sampling to you as well]
8/17/2010 4:12:34 PM
got my new shirt and Mr. Hamilton is out of his mini slump!
8/23/2010 4:23:10 PM
Hamilton is batting .361 with 32 homers and 97 RBIs. He is pretty much a lock for AL MVP at this point.
9/1/2010 12:41:52 AM
No he's notHe has Cabrera beat in average and plays on a better team, but Cabrera leads in everything else.
9/1/2010 6:16:31 AM
^his team is leading the division and he's a better defender.I think he's clear cut unless he goes on a horrendous slump and Cabrera just tears it up this last month.
9/1/2010 7:51:03 AM
Defense is almost never a consideration for MVP, especially when you're talking about LF vs. 1B. And anyway I don't think that Hamilton has done a better job defensively than Cabrera.I'm not saying Hamilton won't win, he probably will, but it's definitely not a lock. The Tigers are out of it, but Cabrera has been the more valuable player by almost every measurement and his raw stats, except for average, are all better than Hamilton's.]
9/1/2010 7:58:06 AM
Miguel Cabrera is drastically behind Josh in pretty much all defensive statisics. Not saying that Josh is that amazing of a fielder, he's slightly above average but Cabrera is a butcher.
9/1/2010 8:36:47 AM
It's "MVP" not "offensive MVP." if i had to guess I would say that they look at all statistics. Anyway, he may start to sit more towards the end of the season (once they know they completely have it locked) to rest his knee for the playoffs.
9/1/2010 8:48:32 AM
Hamilton should start just calling out everyone in the league. Numbers don't matter as long as you put your name out there. Just look at Jimmy Rollins.
9/1/2010 9:34:00 AM
OUCH
9/5/2010 3:00:34 PM
yep.
9/5/2010 9:05:04 PM
they were planning on sitting him more until playoffs. i think he will be fine. he will play through it if he is not. we just need the rangers to get their act together and start winning these games.

9/6/2010 2:19:50 AM
9/6/2010 3:06:53 AM
^What?Shin-Soo Choo leads with 12 and Josh is 4th. Even still most of the time they don't run on him. You do know he can throw like 90-95 right?[Edited on September 6, 2010 at 3:16 AM. Reason : If 9 is easy, then how come only 3 more in all of baseball have more?]
9/6/2010 3:14:50 AM
who knows. i was drunk.
9/6/2010 9:44:53 AM
Didn't realize Hamilton had played significant time in center, that helps. But what I was trying to get across was that they play the two easiest positions, and neither are gold glove-type fielders. Defensive contribution is such an insignificant factor in MVP voting, I don't think it's going to affect the race at all.
9/6/2010 11:40:10 AM
I'm tired of hearing about these first basemen triple crowners. Its like 2-3 out closers. Hamilton is the fucking man.
9/7/2010 12:16:54 AM

ALCS MVP?[Edited on October 19, 2010 at 10:54 PM. Reason : If Cliff doesn't pitch again]
10/19/2010 10:53:35 PM
that is a big if... because cliff lee will more than likely go on 3 days rest to clinch on thursday
10/19/2010 11:27:15 PM
That would be two-days rest but they don't play Thursday even. He'd have to go on three days rest, which he still won't do (they'd save him for a potential Game 7 I'm sure).
10/19/2010 11:30:47 PM
Rangers don't play on Thursday. Game 5 is tomorrow afternoon.
