congrats, it's a nice quiet area. I used to live off of brices creek in snug harbour during high school.

I put a pool table in mine. I was pretty happy with that purchase. Great for parties too.

Nice place Duke! Congrats on landing it. I love that area and have some friends that live on the north side of town (Mill Run) and some others at Fairfield Harbour, so I like to come down there in the summer. Are you at Cherry Point now? We have made it to the airshow there every year with the boys.

Nice looking place! Definitely has some nice features with the hardwoods, 2 porches, jetted tub, and nice kitchen. 2-car garage is also a plus. And I like that it has a hip roof on the main body of the house instead of a gable; that's something you don't see too often on new houses.

Hope you enjoy it and congrats!

^^ haha, 2 car garage was a requirement, unless i found a nice house that was priced cheaply enough and had a lot that would allow building a big detached garage.

even now, as part of the purchase agreement, i'm having the driveway widened 12' to the right and extended to the back of the house.

I too, work in New Bern quite a bit. I have to take Weyerhaeuser when it's nice out because if I go over the bridge I just want to blow off work and find a boat to steal.

parking pad is now paved, glass door is installed on shower in master bath. That piece of siding is fixed, and a couple of other little things that needed to fixed inside the house are taken care of.

just waiting on my mortgage loan to go through...probably 10 more days or so.

then i have to buy a refridgerator, washer, dryer, and TV. (the only TV that I own uses C-batteries and has about a 4" B&W screen, haha) Anybody have suggestions for the best place to buy appliances?

and I guess I need some blinds or something on the windows, too...but that doesn't have to be done yesterday.

My dad's giving me his 1-year old Simplicity mower and a weed eater, though, since he finally broke down and hired a lawn service. Oh, and an antique table that he doesn't have room for, too.

^^^ I'll probably buy new. I'd buy something a year or two old from Craigslist, but I want decent stuff, and want a stainless fridge to match everything else in the kitchen.

no doubt. i'm just saying that a fridge and washer/dryer is something that i'm not going to go without for mont, or even a week or two, while I wait around and try to find what I want, priced attractively, on Craigslist...especially when I have a pretty specific requirement for what I want (with the fridge, at least)

my parents always buy everything from jeffrey's appliance center. it is in raleigh though so i'm not sure if that is helpful.

i don't know. they seem to think that jeffrey's is good people. just got our stainless steel range oven microwave convection crazy stove thing there!

^, ^^

I'll check them out.

I'm not looking to go crazy with the TV. I don't watch much TV, and most of what I watch is news. I do watch some sports and discovery/history channel, but I'm not really a TV person. I'll probably get a 40-42" 1080p, since they're getting much cheaper, and have become the standard to the extent that there aren't many lesser TVs to choose from. It'll be a low-end model (in the world of moderately large 1080p TVs, at least).

There is also a 30% tax break for Energey Efficient appliances out there. FYI. Do your research and make sure that what you buy will get the full credit. Applies to appliances, doors, windows, etc.

I looked at that very briefly, but my impression was that the credit only applied to water heaters, windows, and all sorts of other stuff that didn't include refrigerators/washers/dryers. am i wrong?

I was told it applied to appliances, but I am still looking at houses and havnt gotten to the finishes of the house yet. Let me know if I am wrong so I can tell my wife to stop looking at expensive ass fridges.

Was the 1 year home warranty included in the deal to buy the house? I close on a house in a week and am looking at a couple of different companies to get one from.

by Brice's Creek. 2 miles from the airport; 1 mile from Merchant's store/boat ramp.

$180k. Had them widen the driveway into a parking pad as part of the deal, too.

There is a row of cedars in the backyard. I don't know if I want anything in the front or not.

I'm going to plant some knockout roses somewhere around the house, though, and a clematis vine to climb up the mailbox.

no, it was a guy named Graves Vann.

Yeah, they included that. I think it was a little under $500, and I believe done through a company that deals with Century 21. Can't think of the name of it right now...don't have the paperwork with me at the moment.

looks nice. I didnt read all the posts but one of the first things I wondered was who chose that color mulch in front of the house? It looks almost red in the pics and doesn't match well.. needs more of an earthy color
