^^^^Tax hikes affect everyone....you may not be directly taxed, but there are definately indirect consequences, especially to local economies.

Take Wilmington for example. The city government is annexing the monkey junction area for more tax revenue. They have no sidewalks, city parks, street lights...no reason to justify the increased taxes; and the residents are outraged. As they tax more, people spend less and local business' begin to struggle. Go out and try to find a job when when businesses are struggling and tell me how it goes.....

Exactly. What's your point?

If everyone is so outraged, then do something meaningful. Something other than this stunt and then acting like its the goddamn Boston Tea Party.

I guarantee that these I-Hate-the-Darkie-President circle jerks accomplish absolutely nothing.

I guess BS is in the eye of the beholder.

I can see where libs are going to think the "Tea Tantrums" are silly and unproductive. But what skin is it off you if they want to gather and vent?

I thought the "Million Man March" was pretty pointless, but if people wanted to do it--good for them.

Cool down! You've got control of the congress and the presidency. Relax...enjoy it! Don't fret over a measly hundred thousand people protesting Tax and Spend statism.

Amen

Cool down

Relax

We're all just patriots questioning patriots

There's no jewels... Just the fate of mankind hanging in the balance

Don't worry about it

In the 1950's we were all thinking about flying cars by 2000

But the other side prevented that from reality

I wonder how the fuck that happened

^^ I don't think anyone is saying they can't or shouldn't get together and vent. Just that the people that would, in general, are hypocrites. And there's bound to be plenty of racism mixed in and obama-is-not-American rhetoric.

I saw a chart similar to this somewhere, but can't find it again, so I just recreated it.

Not that I totally agree with it, because our Representatives are the ones that are screwing us, but the point stands that the comparison to the Boston Tea Party isn't really apt.

The group didn't help anyone commit voter fraud. Individuals hired by the group scammed the group and filled out fake registrations for cash that wasn't properly earned. Daffy duck and mickey mouse were not going to go and vote.

not to mention most of the fraud that people cite is fraud reported by ACORN itself (as they are legally required to do). it only wastes their money for their employees to defraud the system.

The racism depicted can be somewhat debated but i think its highly evident that there is significant stereotyping (often a component of racism) being demonstrated and could have been done by someone who honestly believes that Obama wouldn't have received hes 350+ electoral votes had blacks not been double registering themselves. A notion that is entirely baseless and false.

I dont believe that to be the case(about obama not winning), but I do believe in having the most best system we can. I dont think any group like this should receive any federal funds imo.

Can't say I really dig the tea party thing.

I mean, I don't oppose increasing income taxes to what they were under Bill Clinton because I am concerned about the federal deficit.

And while I do think that the stimulus package is spending a lot of money very poorly, I still thought a fiscal stimulus was needed. So I guess my argument was more about size and execution of the stimulus than the principle (i don't think infrastructure projects will do much for recovery and i don't think politicians are concerned enough about the long-run burden of servicing the added debt).

^^^^^^ Here's the thing.....These people are not just protesting the fact that a massive pork filled stimulus plan was passed without a single congressman reading the bill....this is about something far larger than that. Its about an ideology difference.

For years, under Republican and Democratic leadership, the government on the local, state, and federal levels have been taxing working people's income and giving it to people who dont work. It's been called a bunch of things: wealth redistribution, and social justice are a few examples.

Since this insane package was passed, these people have some momentum. Its the perfect time to get their point out.

No, just dont see how you need to bill taxpayers to do it.

I do think telling people how to vote IS wrong. Or giving something for someone to vote is...esp if it goes back to the taxpayers bill.

No -- it did not say "I hate niggers." It's still racist.

Either way, my misguided uncle is racist as hell and he went to the Wilmington tea party. I'm sure he let the n-word fly. So there is your "evidence". Beat it.

That sign may or may not be racist... it's kind of borderline, given that it's not actually bashing the black guy pictured or even insinuating anything about him besides that he's the target demographic of ACORN. Though, if I were to bet on it, my money would be on "it's racist"... can't really be certain without knowing something about who made it, though.

...However, the "rappers say it too so they must be racist" argument continues to be one of the dumbest ideas ever conceived. I am honestly surprised that anyone on this board would have ever actually used it and thought they'd won the argument. TSB can get pretty stupid sometimes, but that's just too stupid to believe.

^ if you don't understand that the context of a word matters as much in whether its racist as much as the actual word, then you are hopeless.

Well thanks for your "evidence" OopsPowSrprs. I guess that settles it, one racist uncle could have possible said the n word, so the rest of us shouldnt be upset about spending and the direction things are heading.... thanks for clearing that up.

btw, If I hear something racist, Ill try to confront whoever and tell them that isnt the issue or necessary. If I hear a lot of it, Ill leave. I honestly dont think Ill will hear it though.

you guys need to get this thread up to at least 5 pages today

btw it's okay to be racist against illegals, so you won't have to worry about that...

we're only worried about the the cartoonish racist stuff, ie if you see a KKK member or a noose... the under-the surface stuff like "those people are always looking for handouts" is obviously passable and shouldn't bother anyone

and don't even get me started on "threats on the sanctity of the traditional family"

The lefties don't want to talk about the run-away spending of Obama and the congress, they don't want to talk about the bloated federal tax system that cost Americans hundreds of millions of dollars in compliance costs.

They don't want to talk about the money we would save if the federal gov't was reigned back to its Constitutional limits. They don;t want to talk about how Obama and his buddies are trying to use taxes to punish the successful. Right now, the top 1% of wage-earners earn 19% of the income..but pay 40% of the income tax. What's fair about that?

Libs have to talk around the subject of taxes, "They're racists!" "The protests are planned!" "Jon Stewart is making fun of them!" "Those bumpkin tax protesters aren't as sophisticated as I am!"

Don't let them get you off the track. We should get at least one day to point out the bloated tax system, and the runaway tax and spending from both parties.
