Haha, here's what you should do, as it worked at my house when I was a kid for everybody. Keep post-it notes on the fridge (there's a number of products you could use to make this easy). Keep a weekly grocery list post-it note and just write what you see that you need on the list. Whoever has the time takes the list with them to the store (or you could go together) and then there's no issue with who forgot what.Seems like a good idea to me, anyway, before something minor like that comes up in an argument.
4/25/2009 1:00:09 PM
yeah we do something like that too, but then that would have ruined the joke so

[quote]i got a good one regarding my father-in-law and lending of money.it's gonna be a blog entry, so i'll post it up later when i feel like typing more.[/quoteI'm interested in hearing this. My girlfriend seems to think this is appropriate behavior. Meaning that we should borrow large sums of money from her father in any circumstance we should 'need' it. In most of these situations its not so much needing it as it is providing the opportunity for us to live above our means. she can't get why i'm so against it and it pisses me off.I'll be married in 8months and counting.

Trust me i agree with you. I've pretty much beaten it out of her over the past two years. I admit her restraint isn't so much an indication of her understanding of things as it is her fear of disappointing me by making unnecessary purchases. As for the borrowing money, its mostly to get into a nice house ITB and furnishings, which, if its that important to her I say we wait patiently for. Delayed gratification isn't a bad thing. bobbyd spill the means guy

we are both cranky as fuck when we're sleepy, especially first thing in the morning - NOT the best time of day to have important conversations, we've finally started to learn. and i am definitely guilty of freaking out when he's driving sometimes, and it irritates the shit out of him. i think the ez-bake oven glove compartment would be a godsend. first, a source of distraction, and later - delicious cupcakes, yay! as far as money goes we're totally struggling right now cos i'm looking for a job and we're living off just one paycheck. we are the people with one stove burner - the house we're renting "as is" didn't come with a functional oven, and we sure as hell can't afford to buy our own, so we are limited to a one-eyed hot plate from wal-mart. my parents and his dad have helped us out with a little bit of money here and there, but we haven't had to ask anybody for a big loan yet. after years of practice we're both really good at living on the cheap, so that helps keep the financial disagreements to a minimum, although we are behind on some bills and sometimes that's a source of tension. if i could get somebody to hire me, we'd be straight. SOMEBODY GIVE ME A DAMN JOB, PUHLEEEEEZE. then i could afford an ez-bake oven for my car!

I don't understand why the situation given in the OP should be a problem at alljust say (in so many words) "Fuck that, bitch. I'm making this chili for ME. You want some milder chili, make it yourself."I'm not that experienced in relationships, though, and maybe it's not so simple. But none of my past girlfriends (or any whom I still respect) would ask me to spoil my chili on their account.]

To further clarify for the OP, I believe this thread is just for people to vent about mildly annoying but not at all serious/real problems with a significant other. He doesn't want pity or advice and he knows his problems are trivial.

Life lesson that all people should learn, people dont change. Small things can be changed sure, but general personality and habits wont. If you marry someone thinking that stuff is gonna change you are setting yourself up for failure. Everyone does things that annoy their SO I am sure, but if its not stuff you can live with forever then dont get married!

1st anniversary this past Sunday....w00t! So far...so good. *knock on wood*
9/24/2013 3:22:38 PM
our 5 year anniversary is coming up this friday... i can't believe how quickly time has gone!
9/24/2013 4:21:13 PM
1st anniversary was 1 month ago yesterday.Couple woes:1. My ability to play video games seriously hinders my ability to do other things...like household chores. We just bought a house 2 months ago and I, being my lazy self, can't seem to do anything around the house which is, rightfully so, making my wife a little pissed. This is something i am working on. (btw, its not like I just lay around and do nothing. I do the dishes a couple nights a week and the yard work once a week...but I haven't been holding up my end of the bargain on just keeping the house generally clean. Something i need to work on)2. This is a bit of a bigger issue that I HATE is an issue, but it still is. In February my injured her leg, somehow, while exercising. She can't describe the pain, but just says her calf hurts every so often and is worse when she exercises. In ALL OF HER INFINITE WISDOM, she went to the doctor afraid that it was a blood clot (face palm). Of course, it wasn't...after an ultrasound and a $400 bill. So...here she goes to the chiropractor. $1,000 later...leg still hurts. All of that was about 4-5 months ago. We have dwindled the bills down to about $700 total left. So NOW, she wants to get an MRI done on her leg because she still feels pain. She only complains about it every so often, but when she does, she says it hurts ALL THE TIME. The MRI is, at minimum, another $1,000 bill. I am walking the treacherous line of, "How much more is this gonna cost for a pulled muscle?" and "Oh baby, I'm so sorry you are hurting, we'll do everything possible to get this fixed for you." To add to my frustration, I've been living with a bum right shoulder and two knees that swell up anytime the weather gets cold for the past 5 years because I didn't want to spend any money on it and, for the time being, I can live with the pain it causes every so often.3. She doesn't cook. Truthfully. I could count 1...maybe 2 nights out of the past 3 weeks that she has cooked a meal. This was a bigger issue right after we got married as I was cooking meals after I got home at 7:30 every night when she got home at 5:30 and just sat around. We made a deal shortly afterwards that on nights I worked, she would cook and nights I didn't work, I would cook.(I'm off 3-4 days out of every week). Well, that hasn't lasted long as I've been back to doing most of the cooking. There is nothing more aggravating than getting off work at 7:00, calling the misses and asking, "Hey babe, whats for dinner?" and hearing, "Oh, I don't know." back. Ok...So there you go...three married life woes. One that is my fault, One that is her fault and One that is nobodies fault but still a woe.
10/16/2013 4:37:29 AM
^ That cooking one sounds pretty bad...if only because I've gotten use to my fiancee's cooking. We usually do a big shopping trip on Sunday to prepare our meals for the week. If we don't get all the nights covered, then I'll stop by the grocery store after work and pick up a meat/veggie/starch to cook that night. If there's grilling involved, I'll handle that. But most of the time it's her cooking with me sitting at the kitchen counter, talking about our days while I surf the internet. Its a time I've come to enjoy very much over the past year or two.Is your wife a shitty cook?
