I see the capitalist stock market loves Obama
2/20/2009 12:33:58 PM
^^ brilliant. do you get your talking points from hooksaw? I ask, because thats exactly the same tortured logic he used on a regular basis.its no secret Congress *ALWAYS* has a low rating. Nationwide, people like "their"congressman, but hate Congress.the 2 years that Pelosi and pals were bumbling about, the damage had already been done of 6 years of complete control of the government by Bush Admin. and If you recall, the 2 years that Dems got congress back, they couldnt get a cot-dam thing accomplished.

agreed, Pelosi is kind of a thug

pelosi is terriblei think most other lefties would agree
2/20/2009 6:22:11 PM
No doubt Bush was quite awful but why does that mean that Obama should be given a free pass to be worse?Honestly though I don't think it is really Obama's fault it is those clowns Pelosi, Reid, and Frank that are the worst. Obama is just in over his head and is listening to people like that because he doesn't know what else to do.
2/20/2009 6:35:15 PM
you honestly think obama is taking his cues from pelosi, reid, and frank?give me a fuckin' break man.
2/20/2009 6:48:28 PM
lol your head must be buried pretty deep not to see that one
2/20/2009 7:14:40 PM
yeah i guess. here all this time i thought obama was actually using and listening to all those advisory groups full of applicable industry experts he was putting together. god i'm an idiot.[Edited on February 20, 2009 at 7:29 PM. Reason : .]

Remind me of where the point is relevant to passing retroactive Telecom immunity by a wide margin, extending the PATRIOT Act, etc.Oh wait, it isn't.Don't let inconvenient facts spoil the narrative, now.

Remind me who pushed for these sub prime mortgages, what got us into the situation we are in, Bill Clinton, plenty of blame to go around, not just Bush's fault, and anyone that claims that = ignorant

Republicans are getting so shrill that soon only dogs will be able to listen to talk radio.A Senator from South Carolina was on Hannity's radio show this afternoon, claiming that the stimulus plan is threatening our civil liberties more than any government action has in modern history. Would anyone care to elaborate on this point?
2/20/2009 11:16:35 PM
The issue is that it's a huge power grab. If the government is given more control over economic affairs, it gains more control over the people. The fact that anyone even calls it a "stimulus" indicates that they haven't read what it really is.
2/20/2009 11:22:53 PM
have YOU read it?
2/20/2009 11:28:00 PM
It IS another very unfortunate expansion of government power, but most republicans hardly have any ground to complain. Given the party's policies in the past 10 years or so, they'd do the exact same thing but put a different PR spin on it.[Edited on February 20, 2009 at 11:31 PM. Reason : another]

Clinton was a lib turned opportunist after Republican tidal wave in 1994. He pretty much did whatever the polls said from that point. It's hard to give him blame or credit for anything.

^^^ That isn't the worst approach in the world. Sometimes you have to make the unpopular call, because the idiot masses are just that, but it's not a bad plan from which to deviate.^ What I want to know is this...How come I heard a ton of Democrats/liberals/leftists (rightfully) going on and on about W. Bush's out of control spending, but see them toeing the party line now with trillions of extra dollars being spent on various "bailout" packages?
2/21/2009 3:18:32 PM
because we don't like spending that goes to shooting people and less taxes for rich people
2/21/2009 3:42:25 PM
^ nah - sometimes people need to be shot, and a lot of times rich people deserve their own money back because they did infact create new value -- what i want to see is the same amount of money that goes into those efforts, go into investment in technology that will emancipate us from the slavery to fossil fuels. we go dollar for dollar on that front, and i say we'll be out of those godforsaken hellhole deserts in no time. and sooner rather than later, those investments will make the Suez Canal and Straits of Hormuz moot points - there will be no need for crusades. our silk road is over the Pacific in massive airfleets powered by something other than fossil fuels. technology will set us free.
