2/20/2009 5:59:22 PM
11-8 was the final.I couldn't believe how the pitching just imploded after the 5th inning.
2/20/2009 6:35:25 PM
^blame it on him, he left early to go to a play

top moments of the Rhode Island game:1) their left fielder, Jeff, missed 1 pop-up, 1 grounder, 1 warm up throw went over his head, and he threw 1 warm up throw over his partner's head. dude was a train wreck in the outfield.2) their closer was 6'6" 289 lbs, so funny in itself, but his catcher couldn't throw the ball back to him. I think it was the 7th and 8th inning, there were about a dozen balls the catcher threw back to him which went over the pitcher's head or were thrown too low and rolled past the pitcher.3) Rhode Island players running back and forth from the dugout to the bullpen were greeted by a dead bird in the dirt, which the students were more than happy to point out to the players as they passed by. a few of them bit, and looked at the bird in disgust.aside from those moments, the best of course being Jeff's fielding antics, the game sucked as yet another NC State sports team failed to close out a game after having a solid lead. Too bad the weather was cold, which seemed to keep a lot of students away. The student attendence was pretty sad, and we were down to about a dozen students by the end of the game. The hazing was decent, but it's always harder to haze the other team when they are beating our ass the 2nd half of the game.Tomorrow's weather should be better, but I'm sure the Virginia basketball game will end up impacting our attendence. If the basketball game only takes 2 hours, it should be over by the time the baseball game starts. I plan on doing the double header of basketball/baseball, and hope to see our 1st W. Good luck tomorrow and go Wolfpack.[Edited on February 20, 2009 at 10:51 PM. Reason : ]

in case anyone is looking for verbal ammo vs. Xavier today....#1 Matt Kleifges is only 5'6" (pop warner baseball?)The Coach, #7 Scott Googins use to play Vollyball for Xavier#10 Drew Schmidt plays Infield, while his BROTHER #5 Zack Schmidt is the Assistant Coach#30 Nathan Mutsch will be the starting pitcher for Xavier, but I can't find any worthy dirt on him
2/21/2009 8:23:32 AM
Please do not heckle when our pitcher is in his windup.

somebody please fill me in on the student ticket/seating situationi haven't been to a game since I came back to State and I want to go to as many games as possible this year
2/21/2009 9:21:36 PM
you show up with a student ID, you get in
2/21/2009 9:27:34 PM
khow about seating. GA?
2/21/2009 9:30:14 PM
^games this weekend students have been allowed to sit in the GA seats.....BUT, last season they made it where students have to sit on the hill. I'm not sure, once the "good" games come up, where they will make us sit
2/21/2009 9:45:10 PM
I'll be working all afternoon so I'm missing today's game...we better start winning otherwise this could very well be the most all around disappointing athletic school year I've seen since I got to State.[Edited on February 22, 2009 at 1:13 AM. Reason : -]
2/22/2009 1:12:28 AM
^^We were always allowed to sit in general seating on the 3rd baseline last year.[Edited on February 22, 2009 at 1:13 AM. Reason : .]
2/22/2009 1:12:31 AM
^no, not always. Maybe they would let you around the 4th or 5th inning in some games when it was going to be noticeably empty.......but they didn't always allow you to sit in the GA seats as a student
2/22/2009 1:21:59 AM
^The last 3 sections on the 3rd baseline were for students last year. It is like that again this year. For the ECU game though they did make everyone pick stands, or hill. Section 13-11 are for students, but if you sit in an empty section 10 just across the aisle that guard will come after you and make you move.
2/22/2009 1:25:21 AM
at the start of last year they tried to make the students sit on the grass hill only.they abandoned that, but it was in effect for a while.
2/22/2009 2:08:58 AM
Damn I was thinking we would win all three games this weekend.Even baseball looks like its going to disappoint now.
2/22/2009 2:10:32 AM
Hopefully it's just cold, these teams are from up north...That's the only hope I have.
2/22/2009 2:23:57 PM
Beat Santa Clara 9-3
2/22/2009 7:17:13 PM
Three great starting pitching outings and lose two of them....Not a great start against decent competition.
2/22/2009 11:03:30 PM
i'd have thought for sure that we'd get waxed by santa clara after the first two.
2/22/2009 11:06:22 PM
my boy Pratt Maynard kicked some ass against Santa Clara
2/22/2009 11:32:29 PM
Pack beat High Point 8-2. Rutter did a much better job today.
2/24/2009 6:26:56 PM
Buchanan and Brown will split time tomorrow. Both will get their starts on the back end of this weekend's series also. Should be a tough game, as Elon took 2 of 3 from Auburn last weekend.
2/24/2009 6:50:11 PM
I think we should handle Elon fine, not that our relievers have gotten back into the swing of things over the last 2 games.
2/24/2009 9:27:01 PM
Elon is a tough game even though we smoked them last year. The pen has gotten it together. They are doing great considering we keep throwing inexperienced guys out there to prep them for the bigger games. Fact is that the offense has to keep rolling. Where did you see that we are going to use two weekend starters in a midweek game? [Edited on February 24, 2009 at 10:43 PM. Reason : pitching]
2/24/2009 10:40:52 PM
Beat Elon 3-1 with Buchanan, Brown, and Sasser pitching.I didn't get to go because of work but we are 3-2 now.How good is Hofstra?
2/25/2009 11:07:50 PM
Hofstra is 0-4 and got outscored 40-16 by FSU last weekend.
2/25/2009 11:24:43 PM
Things are looking up!
2/26/2009 12:17:59 AM
Double header tomorrow starting at 2 due to possible weather on Saturday. If the rain stays away, we will play Hofstra 4 games and then A&T on Monday.
2/26/2009 9:15:51 PM
I don't think I'll be able to make it out to a game again until we play Mason.
2/26/2009 11:30:54 PM
Heading out to Doak for a doubleheader. LET'S PLAY TWO
2/27/2009 1:15:13 PM

I present the White Manny RamirezPratt hit a bomb off this guy in the 9th. I can't remember who had the hit, but it hit this guy's hat off without really hurting him.[Edited on February 27, 2009 at 10:31 PM. Reason : Thank you Matt for the 4 runs in the 8th with 2 outs]
2/27/2009 10:31:02 PM
Bill Edwards scalped him in the 8th immediately following Pratt's hr. The guy had a dew rag under his hat just like manny.

Marathon of bad situational hitting ends in an 18 inning 5-4 wolfpack win. We just need to sleep all day tomorrow after playing baseball for 8 and 1/2 hours today and then get ready for miami.
3/4/2009 10:49:19 PM
3/4/2009 10:51:27 PM
Well we did a good job of using a bunch of different pitchers for only short amounts in the second game, so those guys should be fine for the weekend. I'm sure they were probably planning on pitching Sogard against Miami, so maybe he can still give us 3-4 innings on Sunday. However, Schaeffer must be about dead after having caught for 27 innings by himself. That was evident by him going 0-8 in the second game. We need Maynard to recover from his stomach illness pretty quickly, he'll definitely be needed this weekend to catch, and maybe even to pitch. Of course his bat will be needed against the big guns at Miami too. Another negative is Drew Poulk hobbled off the field with a foot injury after sliding. Hopefully it won't be long-term or anything nagging over the course of the season.
