^^^^ I saw a guy with a postcard sized hole on his windshield swerving down Lake Wheeler... made me feel extremely safe on the way to campus.[Edited on January 21, 2009 at 9:07 PM. Reason : BBR is too fast ]

apparently some guy in a porsche wasnt a great driver because he was in the ditch on 40 yesterday as I was going to work

UPS guy got sideways on purpose today at work in the icey parking lot. reminded me of the ups "race the truck" ads

^^ I posted about that this morning in Ahmet's 911 thread. It was still there this a.m.

Yeah that's a nice Porsche down there, love the wheels. Fucking idiot for trying to drive in the snow though.Saw some moron pull onto the street tonight with a totally frozen over windshield, except for two tiny slits where the defroster had worked so far:carlface:and yet speeding is what cops look for!

I think a 911 does rather well in the snow. I would rather drive it than the WRX, as far as driving dynamics go. Some are avail. in AWD also, obviously. Now if he's on max perf. summer tires, hasn't cleaned his windshield (or lights, etc.), that's different. I do agree this is a MUCH bigger deal than speeders. That said, I actually have a ticket for 70 in a 55 in the snow in Cary in an M3.

I drove my z3 around before the road crews had ruined all the roads! was a good time

^^^well, considering the layout i should hope it does well, as should any rear engine rwd vehicle.
1/23/2009 10:55:35 PM
^true that. Whenever I couldn't make it up a hill in the snow in my GS-R I'd just turn around and go up the hill in reverse.60/40 weight bias FTW!

been snowing here for the past couple days, i don't think its been much over 35 in a month, this shit is gettin old
1/28/2009 6:03:23 PM
get used to it, global climate is trending back to a colder clime.

e36 doing great in 2nd Connecticut winter. I'm running 205/55/16 winter tires on all for corners. With limited slip, no problems with uphills. Few weeks ago during an ice/snow storm, on the uphill, civic in front of me started slipping and rolling backwards towards me. Turned off traction control and off I go around him. Will never buy a RWD car without a limited slip. It makes world of difference in snow.after 300 mile trip on new england highway

If I lived in a climate that reliably got snow year after year I wouldn't hesitate to get a full set of snow tires.
1/28/2009 7:18:51 PM
BTTT! who's ready to ride tonight?
2/3/2009 10:02:36 PM
That's awesome w/the M3. I already miss mine a bit.

The old Integra was pulled from reserve duty last weekend for a 700 mile round trip to Snowshoe. Lots of snow on Sunday, but she was rock solid, even accelerating from a rest on a steep hill with no problem.[Edited on February 25, 2009 at 8:41 PM. Reason : though the heat wasn't working]

did you heater core freeze up? I had the same problem for a little while til i added more antifreeze to my coolant mix
2/25/2009 10:41:09 PM
Nah, its not frozen. I'm 95% something's wrong with my thermostat. It read coolant temp all the way cold for the entire trip, both ways, haha.
2/25/2009 10:56:48 PM
def. t-stat
2/26/2009 1:57:14 AM
how much do t'stats cost and how hard is it to swap in?
2/27/2009 12:03:09 AM
you unscrew the passenger side of the water pipe in the back of the engine. place it in, and screw it back together. just look under your throttle body for a huge cluster @(@* of hoses coming out of one location.
2/27/2009 12:08:06 AM
yeah, it's easy and they cost like $10...
2/27/2009 12:18:30 AM
the bleed valve is an absolute bitch to find on honda's I-4s. it took me 3 hours to realize where it is....same thing with coolant release screw/bolt thing on the back of the block. fucking nightmare.[Edited on February 27, 2009 at 12:25 AM. Reason : ,]
2/27/2009 12:24:39 AM
The big 6 point plug to the left of the dipstick drains the water jacket.the bleed screw is right where the radiator hose enters the head (8 inchs above that plug).unscrewing the bottom one while the exhaust manifold is in place looks like it would spark a few curse words.Which one did you stumble into, lol?[Edited on February 27, 2009 at 9:21 AM.
