a teammate said that the year he sucked he was just going through the emotions (he hasnt wanted to be here for 2 years)....so, if they franchise him, watch for another 2 sack year...hell, I would show up and give it about 25% each game. He already takes plays off,, he probably would just stand there now and do nothing.Just like Mario Williams when he was here, his big games came against shitty teams...stat builder...Peppers was the same at UNC.Maybe if he is traded to Houston, between Williams and Peppers, at least one shouldnt take off the play or game...both have that reputation.[Edited on January 19, 2009 at 1:31 PM. 1 of his 14.5 sacks came when we were trailing and really needed a defensive big play2006: 13 sacks - 11 when we had the leadand yes i understand that naturally when you have the lead, the other team will have more passing downs, hence pep would be rushing the passer more...i also know there are tons of times when he needs to step up and make a play, and he literally gives up[Edited on January 19, 2009 at 1:48 PM. I wouldn't go so far as to say "good riddance" to the guy. He has dominated games/seasons for us before, but he wants out and if we can get something decent in return then I'm not gonna cry about it.

we just need to face the facts that the delhomme/smith/peppers era is over. Not saying that delhomme and smith won't be back, they will and smith will be here for awhile. But these have been the face of the franchise for the last 6 years. We have seen the peak and I believe another recession is upon us. This was our best chance and while we are nowhere close to a rebuilding period i don't know if we'll have this level of success next season especially with what is occurring in Atlanta. Lets get what we can for Peppers and turn the page on that chapter. And Delhomme, i'm not sure what direction we'll end up with him but its time to write the final verse in that chapter as well if we have not already done so.

Peppers plays when he wants to play and only when he wants to play. He had 2 SACKS last season. He wasn't injured or coming back from one, he just didn't try. There is no excuse for that. Unfortunately, that's how he's always been. He was like that in college.
1/19/2009 3:37:27 PM
no thats not what it's like. you don't win the bednarik and lombardi awards in college by being lazy and not trying, so don't talk about that bullshit

its kinda sad because he's got the skill set to be the greatest defensive lineman ever, but lacks the drive. maybe it'll change in a different city

This is really disappointing for me. I grew up and played with JP at Southern Nash....everyone here pulls for the Panthers (Hometown guy/homestate team) and even Jerry Richardson himself (Panthers owner) is from Spring Hope.I know pro ball is about the $$$ but this is like family here.

When do you suspect they'll make a decision about his future?

hey look, a UNC homer comes in to defend Peppers

So, I was never a Peppers fan, but I do respect his ability. He has been a solid defensive player, and a strong defensive presence, but GREAT he never was. I would hope that we can & do franchise him and then trade him for picks or some quality players. I do not want to see him walk and we lose on all angles. But I will not be sad to see him leave, while at the same time I am not wanting to push him out the door. We do have enough issues i.e., Lucas, Delhomme, and keeping Smitty here for the future. Might be time to invest/look for another receiver to replace/back-up Mushin in the future. By the way, OC still needs to be addressed. III

DC too ,trgovac sucked ass towards the end of this year.
1/21/2009 2:22:42 PM
smitty is locked up, yeah?despite what people say about Jarrett, I think he'll ultimately pan out for us. He did too much at USC to not at least be a competent receiver in the NFL. But yeah, we will need some help.what do people think we need out of the draft?
1/21/2009 2:40:17 PM
Jarrett was a poor man's Mike Williams at USC. He sucks, just like Williams sucks.SC makes a lot of guys look like future hall-of-famers.
1/21/2009 2:48:04 PM
corners
1/21/2009 2:48:19 PM
^^ I am beginning to think the same thing. But they do be the shit in college. But I am hoping Jarret at least can fit a slot role.^Yes, cornerbacks are a must in the draft. III
1/21/2009 2:54:49 PM
corners or defensive linei think Jarrett can be ok...I think he's just a slow learner (dumb)...he does have great hands
1/21/2009 3:45:04 PM
So wassup on our Defensive Strategy next year...any word on possible coaches? III

Pep hates the Panthers. Get over it. He's gone.
1/26/2009 6:33:15 PM
I hope that they release him and he doesn't get picked up for months on end, and then finally gets picked up by the Lions for $200K/yr. Fuck Peppers.
1/27/2009 3:34:29 PM
^while that would be hilarious, it would be shitty for the Panthers...I want that 1st round draft pick
1/27/2009 3:38:12 PM
bttt so hopefully he can get traded today
4/25/2009 2:28:06 PM
yea i dunno what to do w/ my jerseyobviously i can't wear it anymore if he is gone, but i dont particularly want to wear it anymore anyway
