^btw Duke the newer S2000s have a seat sensor that automatically disables the passenger airbag.

in my opinion, the sweet spot for S2000 bang for the buck is either a fairly high-mileage AP1 for super cheap (like 8-10k) or an early AP2. If I was going to spend the money to get a newer S2000, I'd get something else.In any case, I'm leaning away from S2000s, because it's a hassle to put a roll bar in them...and they have fairly small trunks, even by 2-seat sports car standards.Plus, I don't trust the weight sensor. If I strap her carseat down tight on the seat, then put her in it, etc...I want to know for sure that it is completely turned off.

^there's a light on the dashboard that tells you. Its located just underneath the lower dashboard air vents.And I know you tried to pursuade me to get an older model, but I wanted as new a car as I could get, b/c they feel more solid not to mention suffered less abuse and warranty, w00t.

^I wouldn't put my child in that seat until they're like 6-7. However, I was just saying. And I've put stuff weighing up to 25-30lbs on that seat and the airbag has still deactiviated.

^ yeah, i think it sounded like a good idea to you right up until the point where you actually thought about it. ^^ my biggest beef with getting C5, aside from the lack of a backseat, is the fact that I want a C6. I told myself for a while that I'd get one after I got home, but I just can't bring myself to spend that much money on a car until I'm in a position where I won't be deploying for a while. I feel like I'll likely end up with one in a couple of years, though...part of me wants to get the M3 out of my system now--then I can move on to the 'Vette (and maybe a 911 of some sort whenever I get tired of that).

It would be easy to install something to manually set the sensor on or off with some sort of keyed switch if you actually got one. I know I sure as hell would if I were you.

yeah, it's doable. sort of a pain, from what i hear, due to concerns over liability and stuff. i read that GM discontinued their kit (which they charged $400 for, which is about the least I've ever seen for an airbag disable kit. ridiculous.)I still think I'm as likely to do the M3 as anything. The C5 rocks, but as much as I like to have different stuff, I kinda want to wait to play the Corvette card with a C6. There are a handful of cars on my "to-own" list:C6 corvette997 porscheE46 M3(and to a lesser extent, a Viper and Z4 M-Coupe, and maybe another Evo IX one day when they become really cheap, but I don't know exactly when or where they would ever fit into the mix.)The idea I've had in my head for several weeks now is to check the M3 box when I get back, then maybe sell it for a C6 Z51 after the next deployment. That would keep me occupied for quite a while, I think, and maybe I'll be done deploying for a while after the next one.
