I know absolutely nothing about Andrew Brackman the baseball playerDoes he throw a straight curve, like 12-6, or a slurve-type pitch like Randy JohnsonA big hook from a guy his size would be nasty
2/25/2011 3:06:41 PM
i always heard his slider was sick but i may have it confused w/ a curve[Edited on February 25, 2011 at 3:36 PM. Reason : dfasdfasghaehwergasdfg]

Anyone else here listen to Up and In, the Baseball Prospectus Podcast? They were really pretty down on Brackman on Wednesday's show when they released the top 10 Yankee prospect list. Apparently his control is way off right now.
2/25/2011 3:42:26 PM
maybe he should have focused on basketball?
2/26/2011 12:59:55 PM
The next bull durham. Or

I sat behind you in AnthropologyGive em the high stinky cheddar

He hasn't been doing so hot in Scranton. Control has been way off for 2 seasons now, mostly. I guess they think this might break him out of his funk and let them determine whether he's worth the long term attention?

^^^ Did you even read the quoted text from above. Yes he was having control issues and then made a mechanical adjustment that has made a difference. The Yanks are calling him up because they think he can help the team, not to experiment with his control.
9/7/2011 3:04:50 PM
Pitched 1.1 innings last night for the Yankees at Yankee Stadium
9/23/2011 4:37:54 PM
This took my attention away from what we call a football team for a bit.
9/23/2011 4:39:11 PM
brackman is pitching vs Rays right now
9/26/2011 10:10:07 PM
9/27/2011 12:25:43 AM
pretty sure i read that he was called up too late to be eligable for post season play, which i didn't know there was a rule about.
9/27/2011 2:59:14 AM
^^ no chance, but he's been able to give the Yanks some spot relief which gives their pen some extra rest heading into the post season. Hopefully Brackman can make the 25 man roster in the spring.
9/27/2011 6:51:12 AM
they said there is a good chance he will play tonight- I hope he doesn't cause I don't want to have to route against him!
9/28/2011 12:51:56 PM
You could always route around himOr even route through himWere he part of some transportation network, that is
9/28/2011 12:55:24 PM
Route route route for the home team!
9/28/2011 12:59:30 PM
^^^^ yeah i know he won't be on the playoff roster. if you don't think he'll be on the playoff roster, and since he didn't throw an inning for the yankees until the day after they clinched the division, i dare say that he was called up to work on his location.
9/28/2011 1:11:15 PM
Did he get the axe today?
11/2/2011 12:05:23 AM
yes
11/2/2011 12:08:30 AM
11/2/2011 8:21:22 AM
does he still have college basketball eligibility ?
11/2/2011 8:48:37 AM
he's still young, I'm sure he'll catch on somewhere. It would be nice if he went to Tampa, Cleveland, Cincinnati or another city who has had success developing young arms
11/2/2011 8:56:34 AM
He got a $3m signing bonus.Even if he does absolutely nothing for a long, long time, he'll be just fine assuming he didn't do anything ridiculous.
11/2/2011 9:48:12 AM
I wonder if he would have been more successful at basketball. He had a lot of basketball potential.
11/3/2011 7:59:21 AM
he had potential until he added muscle and forgot how to shoot threes.
11/3/2011 12:50:47 PM
the option on his contract was too much ... but he'll definitely sign somewhere else for much less than the 3.3 mil he got before - way to cash in on potential alone
11/3/2011 2:13:07 PM
Brackman is now a Cincinnati Red
12/13/2011 4:23:24 PM
"Congrats on making it to the big leagues! Here's a 4% raise."
12/13/2011 4:26:17 PM
good for him. It's good to see him doing better.
12/13/2011 4:45:47 PM
i think he's originally from cincinnati
12/13/2011 6:41:55 PM
Yes, he's from Cincy. Baseball America still had him at #3 on the Yankee's prospect list last year, he still might have something left. Too bad the Mudcats lost their Reds affiliation last year.
12/14/2011 12:44:34 PM
12/14/2011 12:47:23 PM
I guess I should have mentioned that they lost their AA status as well, since some people might pick apart my posts out of boredom. THANKS, CHIEF.
12/14/2011 12:51:28 PM
Didn't know that, I thought they were always high-ABut still, not like he would be spending any time at AA, either. AAA with a cup of coffee and then it's on to a career as a high school basketball coach.[Edited on December 14, 2011 at 12:53 PM. Reason : why the fuck don't you just use pinkandblack]
12/14/2011 12:53:12 PM
Stephen Strasburg spent a good chunk of last year in AA on his way back. I have no idea why the Reds would do the same thing, but if they want to develop him more, he might start in AA and move up to AAA by season's end.But yeah, for those who don't know, the Mudcats are now the Indian's high-A club, which is more fitting for their ugly stadium in the middle of nowhere.
12/14/2011 12:57:41 PM
12/14/2011 1:00:33 PM
Who cares? He's not going to be what we thought, blah blah, whatever, hope he enjoys his time in Pensacola with the Blue Wahoos or Louisville or Indianapolis or the St. Paul Saints or whatever.
12/14/2011 1:09:19 PM
signed by reds
1/4/2012 8:51:57 PM

3.25 mil doesn't go as far as it use to. his house probably doesn't even have a HEATED pool.
1/4/2012 9:51:50 PM
a majority of players in any sport mismanage their money and are broke within a few years after leaving the sport.
1/4/2012 9:52:47 PM
he and mccauley were frequent customers of the five points bars in the fall
1/4/2012 10:06:46 PM
I mean on 3.25 mil you can't really live out to the end of your days and not work...hahahaha, yes you can.
