^Same. All four of mine came in perfectly straight. However, my dentist insisted that I get mine pulled anyways "because everyone else gets them pulled".I no longer go to that dentist.

One of my teachers in high school had her wisdom teeth come in under her tongue. My teeth before removal, just over 3 years ago (had them removed the day before Thanksgiving in 2005):(remove "_small.jpg" from that url and you can see the full sized jpg)My bottom two were completely impacted, growing perpendicular to my other teeth, towards the other teeth, crowding my bottom row. One side pushed harder than the other and my bottom row shifted in relation to the top, so my top and bottom rows no longer line up vertically. Also, they pushed one of my teeth 'out' of the row towards the front just a bit. I really need to have that taken care of.My top two wisdom teeth were growing in the normal direction but were pointed out slightly onto my cheeks. I woke up one morning with my cheeks hurting, looked in the mirror, and saw the cups digging holes in my cheek -- first time I'd ever seen my wisdom teeth (hadn't been to the dentist since the end of high school for a regular cleaning...in fact I still haven't..... )I had all 4 removed with very little hassle.

i'm having my wisdom teeth taken out this friday and i have a couple of presentation next week on tues and thurs. i've done a lot of research and i know recovery time varies for everyone, but i was wondering about personal experience as far as soreness particularly with speaking and being able to speak clearly.i'm thinking that 3-4 days b/t surgery and presentation should work, but i'm not sure if i should try and get these presentations moved.[Edited on October 19, 2009 at 9:37 AM. It all depends on the swelling, everyone if different.I had mine out last year and did not have very much swelling, just a deep lingering soreness for about a week. As has been mentioned, AVOID straws, or any form of sucking at all costs. Dry sockets develop when the holes close before the gum has healed and the process to fix this is pretty horrible. My orthodontist told me its essentially a pipe cleaner with novacaine on it that they re-open the holes with, and the pain is so intense that even prescription narcotics will not provide relief. Keep up with your sockets, you have to wash and use the syringe after each meal to avoid infections.Talking-wise I was fine, the first 12 hours after the surgery I was still high on laughing gas and anesthesia so I was in no state to talk, but if you have a week in-between you should be fine. The most lasting effect from getting them out is the soreness.

I had all 4 done at once. I was good to go after like 2 days, didn't take any of the pills they gave me. My sister on the other hand did not have it so easy. Her's were bad, and then she had some sort of "hole" thing. There's a term for it. But it was pretty tough for her.I'd definitely let your boss know you have it coming up beforehand, just in case. But hopefully you'll be over it pretty quick.
