We should enjoy the last year we'll see Wilson as starting QB next year. He's definitely going pro after next season as a second basemen. Glennon will still have 3 years to do his thing afterwards. And there's no way Glennon starts over the 1st Team All-ACC QB.

Good post^However, RW fumbled on a hit by Alphonso Smith in the WFU game. So, two turnover's total. Still a great decision maker and I'm excited about him leading us to ACC Championship next year.
12/30/2008 2:43:30 PM
yep, russell is the man... all i ask for, for his sake not mine,,, is that he can learn to avoid the injury prone hit positionshe went to his knees and head first in the concussion against south carolina and to his knees head first vs. rutgers,,, that position is begging for trouble, but i know he will have it worked out by next year. and i do say he did not have room to slide in the rutgers injury hit, he seemed hesitant on sliding or taking a hit so he did do the child's pose and... ouchhh

are people really upset about losing this bowl? you knew we were done once wilson was out, enjoy the offseason.

wilson's problem is that he doesn't know how to slide. Early in the year, he was sliding head first and got knocked the fuck out. And he's a baseball player so he should know not to slide with his feet under him. And it's funny that the team seemed so motivated with him in there but were like "oh we're fucked" in the second half. Standing on the sideline and watching a lead you made evaporate and there's nothing you can do because the other qb's have the decision making of a 3yr old has to be one of the worse feeling in the world. oh well, here's to continuing that no interception streak in 09.
12/30/2008 7:58:50 PM
^well you've seen Evans and Burke play. How would you feel if a guy going out with a 16/1 ratio and has lead you to a bowl game went out and you had to play with these two fucks??Every one of the fans had the same feelings, and the players did too. We all knew we were fucked....thats why we went so apeshit when evans led us to that TD
12/30/2008 8:36:33 PM
^^ What the fuck are you talking about, he got his concussion on a designed run play behind the line of scrimmage when Underwood failed to throw a decent block.
12/30/2008 8:44:05 PM
and on that play he went head first and the cocks made a russell sandwich with his head. And he was diving head first before that too.
12/30/2008 8:56:01 PM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEjcagpW-8QYou lose.He was sliding feet first and one guy hit him and from the other side he got a knee to the head.
12/30/2008 9:41:20 PM
I must've been thinking about another play, but even that is far from feet first. looks like he was going to slide on his knees with head up. granted he didn't have enough time to blink.
12/30/2008 9:45:11 PM
the concussion from south carolina was pure misfortune. i'm not really sure why people keep trying to blame wilson for getting hurt; he did well to stay alive with the line we had at the beginning of the season.

I'm one of the most critical people in the world of athletes. This kid is straight balls. The cost/benefit analysis rings completely true. Wilson HAS to realize that his presence in the game is worth infinitely more than a spare yard or two. This is the same reason Jordan shouldn't dive on the floor for loose balls, Papelbon shouldn't pitch back to back nights with a 3 run lead, and Tim Duncan shouldn't play 40 minutes/game in the regular season. Some people are completely above the "hustle play".However, Russell Wilson is a terrific QB BECAUSE of his threat with his legs. He absolutely must run or force the defense to respect the run to be a top notch QB. This guy has a relatively strong, accurate arm but it's not like he's Peyton Manning back there. I don't want him to lose any aggressiveness by choosing to run the ball, although he does need to learn to finish his runs with safer moves. In actuality, Wilson should be running MORE frequently because he is so effective that way. He's not incredibly fast but he is very shifty/agile and he picks up yardage at a more efficient rate by running than he does by throwing. If we get more talented receivers (Bowens back?) and he continues to buy time with his legs we could have an offense that averages 30 ppg next year no problem. Our defense already has a few playmakers. If we get a commitment to the weightroom and playbook in the offseason we could theoretically win the ACC next year.Look at how much our team has improved midseason under TOB. The only problem thus far is that we have started at such a low level each season. That can easily be attributed to inexperience and a new system.I think we open next season as a marginal team and finish as a very good team.We finish top 25 and either win an easy bowl or put up a fight in a competitive bowl. Obviously we need Wilson to be healthy and it won't hurt to have a reliable backup on standby. But a year from now the papajohns.com bowl result will be a distant memory.

What did the announcers say in the Oregon/Oklahoma State game?
12/31/2008 12:31:00 PM
they said they liked the way masoli (oregon's qb) moved around and improvised when things went down hill. Said his scrambling ability reminded him of Russel Wilson only a little slower.
12/31/2008 12:37:10 PM
Said Masoli (Oregon QB) reminded him of Wilson but Masoli is bigger (30 pounds bigger)^and that too[Edited on December 31, 2008 at 12:42 PM. Reason : s]

Great posts by Erios and Jaybee. I really have nothing to add except to reiterate that Russell Wilson is the man. Any update on the severity of the injury? I know he looked fine on the sidelines and that it was listed as just a sprain, but knee injuries make me nervous.
12/31/2008 3:24:03 PM
^ They don't know right now, and may not until he returns to campus. He left Birmingham with his family and returned home for the rest of break

Heard from "my inside source" that he wanted to get back out there and kept begging TOB to let him play, but the doctors advised TOB against it and that's was all she wrote. Said that Wilson was soooo frustrated watching on the sidelines and it was basically killing him to not play.

^^^I seem to remember everyone talking about Evans having some really high numbers coming out of high school as well. It's been a while, so I don't remember. Basically, high school performance means nothing - IMO.We'll finally see what Glennon has to offer when/if we're up by 3 scores in the 4th quarter.[Edited on January 6, 2009 at 1:37 PM. Reason : -]

I don't really need someone claiming an inside source to tell it was frustrating for Wilson to sit on the sidelines during the second half of the bowl.

Yea he should be fine. I really messed up my PCL bad wrestling Junior year in the state tournament. It was definitely worse than his too, there was no way I would have quit the match if I could finish but I couldnt push off at all and basically couldn't walk immediately after and I was certainly on "limited activity" for a good while. But once I got to that point it really healed fast.long story short: I think I tore mine worse than he did, I didnt even have the kind of medical attention he will receive and I was 100% by the start of offseason practices easy.Unless he does something to make it worse he'll be just fine
