well, we won at leastdegand really does have a bad habit of barreling down the lane and praying to get fouled to save his out of control shot
12/20/2008 4:33:05 PM
at least he is trying. sometimes the threat of a drive is good enough if it frees up one of our guys for a rebound. He'll obviously have to start finishing, though.
12/20/2008 4:35:59 PM
Mays actually loooked competent today, he has made real progress since the begining of the season
12/20/2008 4:39:54 PM
^I agree. I think that getting a lot of the playing time at the start of the season will help him a lot down the stretch

We obviously did not give that game all we had.... Very poor turnout from the fans as well
12/20/2008 6:21:11 PM
well if the team is going to half ass it, apparently the crowd is going to too.crowd was just over 10k
12/20/2008 6:29:25 PM
^^ Um, just which part of the game did you think we didn't show effort in?
12/20/2008 6:45:07 PM
Some positives: only nine turnovers, 8-16 from 3, mccauley and costner both almost getting double-doubles, mays with 9 points, 7 assists and no turnover, ferguson going 4-8 from 3, smith getting 5 offensive rebounds. What's up with 10-22 from the line?Glennon and (i think) Barnes looked good @ CFS
12/20/2008 7:02:53 PM
very poor turnout? what did you expect for a game against a team no one has ever heard of when all students living on campus have been forced to go home?the free throws were atrocious, so i'm glad we got that out of the way. smith's offensive rebounds are misleading because 2 or 3 were from a play that he couldn't initially finish and he kept trying to tap the ball in. i did love the whole bench laughing at cj williams when the rim blocked his dunk though.
12/20/2008 10:14:16 PM
Speaking of poor turn out, I wish that douche behind the dance team would have kept his mouth shut. What a clown.
12/20/2008 10:15:10 PM
Ferg can't play defense. He is bad off the ball and god awful on the ball. Every time his man got the ball he went to the basket. He can't keep playing big minutes...unless he hits like 90 percent 3's to make up for it.
12/20/2008 11:57:34 PM
yeah, we have a dangerous amount of whities on the court.

some dude at the ecu game yelled 'hey ecu, nice stds' at least four times and people around him laughed every time. i was embarrassed for all of them.
12/21/2008 12:16:46 AM
one time in 2004 when we played ecu in charlotte in football i said "the only TDs ecu will catch are S-T-D's and it make some folks laugh
12/21/2008 12:20:05 AM
we were playing UNC one time, and everyone chanted S-T-D at their player who was shooting a FT, he made a funny face, then he beat us single-handedly.

^^ Talking about Rashad McCants?? I think that's who we did that to.
12/21/2008 2:33:05 AM
^I remember that game. Yes, it was Rashad McCants. And we had a 10 point lead with 2:30 to go yet wound up losing by 7. Oh Herb, the memories . . .[Edited on December 21, 2008 at 3:17 AM. Reason : .]

actually the chant was "o-ral her-pies *clapclap*clapclapclap*" when mCcants was taking free throws...It made SC - stuart scott called us out for it.

^incorrect

I went to the carolina-state game at the dean dome hansbrough's freshman year (very disappointing game btw, up 11-0 at the beginning, then we got blown out). Anyways, this was during gavin grant's questionable citizenship incident and everytime he shot free throws, the unc student section waved green cards. I thought it was funny.

^CJ did open up the Davidson game with 2 straight 3s from the corner. (Of course, he went on to miss his next 6 shots). but I remember a few upperclassmen complimenting his shot in the pre-season. hopefully it'll come after he gets some confidence in game-time situations. But yeah, ferg's playing well, and as scary as it is, his 3 pt shot will probably be a make-or-break factor in a lot of games this season.
12/21/2008 1:52:15 PM
I'm really hoping CJ gets more aggressive. You can tell he's really athletic, but he doesn't create while he has the ball.I also hope Thomas keeps getting better and better. He can jump through the roof. He went up for a tip in last night and I swear he could have touched the top of the backboard if he tried. I've seen him make some nasty dunks during warm-ups too. Hopefully he'll get a chance to show it off the season.
12/21/2008 2:13:39 PM
^^^ I was just pointing out he got more time than the 2 best (healthy) players we have. I can understand McCauley losing some time to Smith. But I feel like Costner can (as in he has the conditioning now) and should be playing just as many minutes as Fergie.[Edited on December 21, 2008 at 3:57 PM. Reason : .]
12/21/2008 3:48:25 PM
^ Why? To increase the chance he gets hurt in games and to make sure our bench has no in game experience?? Smith needs to work on his rebounding if he really wants to contend!
