Sorry, I at least intended to agree with you. I agree that it is stupid to argue preferences, but that doesn't excuse people whose preference is indicative of bad taste.

no apologizing. i seriously got a kick out of that (bc i, for one, will readily and easily make fun of any nickleback fan)
12/21/2008 10:04:39 PM
I saw them December 4th in Charlotte with He is Legend. BTBAM and He is Legend are two of my favorite bands of all time, but He is Legend was awful that show. Luckily, BTBAM more than made up for it.
12/22/2008 1:32:55 AM
yea HIL just isnt the same band anymore. I hated suck out the poison, and the lineup has changed even more since then. Now, the new stuff they are doing in the studio actually sounds decent but Schuyler has really gone down hill live imo
12/22/2008 9:02:04 AM
Also, that guy is a huge asswipe.
12/22/2008 9:13:23 AM
just bumped to post this video. blake's brother posted an old beloved video today -which is awesome by the way(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDExBdckFMk&eurl=http://dumpoff.com/discussion/20056/beloved-at-533-uprisings-fest-2001/) and it got me looking around at his youtube channel and I found a performance of "more of myself to kill" at an old BTBAM show I was at in winston:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyL9VfqTQQI&feature=channel_pageand just for kicks, this video is the best sounding performance Ive seen on youtube of them playing "shevanel cut a flip" way back in the day. its in baltimore around that same time as the more of myself to kill video. I remember seeing this on pheer.com when that site was big.I know a lot of people liked mark on drums (silent circus) and blake definitely fits great with their new sound but will was an awesome drummer for that first record and Ive always loved his singing voice.but yea, those two songs destroyed live back in the day. actually those 3 if you include "kiss it goodbye" from beloved that i posted too heh.[Edited on January 28, 2009 at 9:16 PM. ok so i guess i should give some real recording news since i bumped the thread, just told me that May is kind of penciled in as a recording date but nothing is set in stone...thats a lot earlier than I thought they would be in the studio, pretty awesome though.
1/28/2009 10:58:01 PM
recording end of may and all of june. only parts ive hard are tight..maybe a little "heavier" than colors...which is good. but who knows...only hearing a few parts from this band is never a good view of the overall album, which is also a good thing.
3/7/2009 1:46:12 AM
i generally dont like metalbut i fucking love BTBAMwell, some of their stuffwhat i do like, i like A LOTlike shevanel, selkies, aspirations, decade, etcand Mr Briggs is my personal hero, thank you very much

3/10/2009 10:45:31 AM
haha the only clip that is online that i could direct you to to hear is on their blog that was linked on the OP. they have a video up with a short clip http://btbamofficial.blogspot.com/Beyond that youll have to wait They are recording directly before us with Jamie King this summer (in fact our first week and their last week/buffer week actually kind of overlap) so beyond what ive heard and that clip on their blog with audio in the background, I think thats the next chance I'll get to peep anything besides anymore writing/studio videos they put up.oh and BTBAM and telescreen mini tour4/2 Atlanta GA @ The Masquerade4/3 Charleston SC @ The Music Farm4/4 Columbia SC @ Brookland Tavern4/5 Raleigh NC @ Lincoln TheaterI will be attending at least 1 or two of those. (most likely raleigh and columbia)[Edited on March 10, 2009 at 11:00 AM. Reason : ]

cool. i haven't gone to that link in a while. (wish there wasn't laughing over the video there, lol. but you are right, it does sound heavier.)and thanks for the heads up about the show! i'll definitely be attending the raleigh show. i haven't seen telescreens in forever; i'm definitely looking forward to hearing them again.(and i didn't know you were recording with jamie king. cool )[Edited on March 10, 2009 at 12:44 PM. 3/10/2009 12:43:30 PM
april 5 so there.
3/10/2009 2:34:30 PM
yea, once again, good triangle show on a sunday night ...The worst part is that I may be in Raleigh that weekend (ie missing the SC dates) and then leaving raleigh for SC sunday (ie missing the raleigh date) haha. originally I thought it was th, fri, sat - sc, sc, nc. But I'm going to try and make it to one of them.
3/10/2009 2:41:27 PM
i think seeing one of these shows will be worth being tired for a day at work.
3/10/2009 8:54:04 PM
oh I agree. that following week of work is just going to be a big one so it would suck to start the week off that tired
3/11/2009 11:28:07 PM
actually... i think im closer to coumbia, so i might just travel down there for that show
3/13/2009 3:49:26 AM
well if I stay in town in greenville thats the show ill be at too. we'll have to chill if we both end up going there.
3/13/2009 8:13:00 AM
need....join...hardcore band...
3/13/2009 11:13:36 AM
For anyone that cares, they are finishing their first week in the studio today. They'll probably put some studio videos online over the next few weeks when more stuff besides just drums is recorded.
6/4/2009 9:48:34 AM
Sweet
6/4/2009 10:12:20 AM
can't wait
6/4/2009 11:17:31 AM
yea im pumped; i can't wait to hear the new stuff recorded. The little bit ive heard is definitely a little different. They are using different guitar setups than their previous records this time. PRS Customs instead of Ibanez S series as well as d-activator pickups instead of EMGs. I'm assuming Blake has his new drumset too, but I forget when he was getting that. I'm sure Jamie King will make sure it sounds fantastic as usual no matter what equipment they use. His new studio is definitely ridiculous.
6/4/2009 1:16:32 PM
BTBAM will be out of the studio in 2 weeks. In other news, I'll be hearing the BTBAM album in about 2 weeks Hoping they post some studio videos though. Thought they were going to be doing that earlier this week. They might till their out of the studio though now.[Edited on June 25, 2009 at 2:16 PM. Reason : ]

I've really enjoyed the studio videos they've done for the past two albums. It get's me super pumped up for the release. I know I watched the color's one many, many times.

The Great MisdirectOctober 27th, 20091. Mirrors2. Obfuscation3. Disease, Injury, Madness4. Fossil Genera - A Feed from Cloud Mountain5. Desert of Song6. Swim to the MoonDVD coming in the CD packaging with tons of studio footage etc.I'm hit or miss on the fact that there are only 6 songs because Blake told me the album was about 60 minutes so that means definitely some epic long songs again. This can be awesome, but I do also miss some heavy hitting 4 minute songs. Either way I am sure it will be great. Mixing and Mastering will be complete this week.I'll report in in 2 weeks on what I think of it.[Edited on July 6, 2009 at 9:53 PM. Reason : ]

7/6/2009 10:26:32 PM
haha, wish I could but I just couldnt do that even if I did actually have an actual copy. I'll most likely be listening to it off of the board. def didnt plan our dates like this on purpose but i'm not complaining [Edited on July 6, 2009 at 10:56 PM. Reason : ]

nah, i know man, i'm just playin. i got alaska like a month and a half in advance somehow and now i want them all early. (colors was only a week or two early)please, please let us know how it is though.
7/7/2009 9:37:23 AM
their drummer was in my english class freshman yearthats all I got.
7/7/2009 9:51:41 AM
^^ haha, don't worry I will.^ Blake's awesome, I'm glad he still reps the pack now and then too . For any drummers out there, he had a 4 page spread in the April Issue of Modern Drummer.
7/7/2009 9:59:51 AM
he's pretty damn good.I think he was in glass casket when I was in class with him.
7/7/2009 11:27:40 AM
w00t!
7/7/2009 5:54:59 PM
I think I had colors a month or two in advance and picked up the CD the day it came out, I would love to do the same with this album...
7/7/2009 10:34:20 PM
I don't want to wait until Oct.
7/9/2009 12:23:26 AM
1) jamie king's brand new recording setup sounds absolutely phenomenal as heard on the new btbam album.2) the btbam record is musically great. it will probably divide the fans even more than the last record though. this record is even more prog and less metal than colors but still just great music.
7/22/2009 1:34:29 PM
7/22/2009 4:50:57 PM
7/22/2009 6:08:48 PM
^^ nah I really like it. Definitely was hoping for a little more metal...but after hearing it (and only 1x through at this point), it really is a very solid album; it is just certainly even more different than the sound BTBAM originally was known for.^ if its not metal enough for you, maybe you'll enjoy our new record instead
7/22/2009 11:21:16 PM
i'm thinking i'll still enjoy this album, even if it is less metal and more prog. i can dig it.
7/23/2009 12:16:27 AM
This prog development is kind of bugging me. Watershed, Crack the skye. I mean i like the music, but i think the diversion from the heavier sound is kind of a cop out. Theres plenty of good super heavy music thats equally as progressive. On the other hand, i accept that its pretty boring to be in a band for 15 years and still do the same thing you started doing.
7/23/2009 12:24:33 AM
7/23/2009 9:40:15 AM
^ agree completelyI can see what ^^ you are saying though. Sometimes it takes me a few runs through to get the feel and idea behind an album. Crack the Skye was that way for me. I didn't like it at first, but after a few listens it hit me in the head and could be my fav album of the year now.
7/23/2009 6:20:16 PM
I mean, there is plenty of great progressive music out there that didn't require a band to totally stray from everything they'd done before. For example Edge of Sanity - Crimson II. That album is the epitome of progressive rock and death metal. Even though its Dan swano almost all by himself, he didn't have to cut out all the growling, cut out all the blast beats and tone back the distortion to create that album. I agree that it must be boring playing the same thing for 15 years, but there just seems to be a trend of dropping the death in progressive death metal.and honestly i think it has a lot to do with potential fans thinking growling is less 'musical and technical'[Edited on July 24, 2009 at 11:47 AM. 7/26/2009 6:01:10 PM
yea, I didn't get to attend the greene street show, but they did also play Charlotte the night before listed as a "CD Release Show" as well that I got to attend. I just hope wherever they do it that I can make it so I can keep my BTBAM CD release streak going haha. Our record is going great. All drums, guitars, bass, keys are tracked. Vocals are about 80% tracked (finishing as we speak). And we have several parts we created in Reason that are about 90% imported and synched. Today and tomorrow have been/will be finishing vocal tracking and the start of post-production and mixing. I'll make sure you know when we have some final mastered tracks available to peep [Edited on July 29, 2009 at 7:30 PM. Reason : ]
