Just got back from seeing it. I liked it. Cruise wasn't terrible, he wasn't great though. Tom Wilkinson was terrific as always. Kenneth Brannagh was great although his role was rather small. I didn't like the actor who played Olbricht

this movie surprised me. I really enjoyed it.

If I hadn't known the ending I would have loved this movie....it was still better than I expected.I would recommend it. Several Pirates of Caribbean cast members in this.My only gripe is all the actors are British and don't even attempt a German accent.

i'm glad there weren't a lot of fake/horrible german accents floating around. the movie basically wrote off the language thing at the beginning so it wouldn't be a distraction.

^Yeah I guess so...I didn't look at it that way. It would have taken away from it.

definitely a good move to write off the language thing at the start. people speaking english with german accents would be silly and would make no sense.

i thought it was a good movie. hell, i'd see it again in theaters

I enjoyed it but I don't see it as a movie that I would enjoy watching a second time

I don't know about the accents. If you weren't familiar with the story you would get confused for about 15 minutes. Tom Cruise had an American accent, most everyone else had a British accent, and then Hitler and the reserve forces commander had German Accents.

Yea I don't think it was necessary for everyone to speak with a German accent, but it is sort of confusing to hear british accents coming from people in full German military uniforms.I am sure there were many confused (non-WW2 buffs) people

i wish they gave the part to someone like ed harris or jason statham .. shit, johnny depp or edward norton would have been better than that nut job

I just saw this movie, don't waste your money.

Not nearly as much action as the trailer would suggest. Semi-interesting though since it is based on a true story.

I saw Valkyrie tonight and it was better than I had expected it to be. it is definitely a story worth seeing/hearing about. If you enjoyed the subject matter of Valkyrie I would also recommend you see "Sophie Scholl - The Final Days". It is also a movie about resistance to Hitler and the Nazis within Germany during WWII. However, this movie was made in Germany, by Germans, and thus has English subtitles. It is a well-done film and you should definitely see it.This is a pic of Sophie Scholl, her brother (left) and a friend who were all members of the White Rose, a resistance group in Germany during WWII.

Fuck my history teacher for spoiling the end of the movie for me 7 years before it came out

David Bamber is amazing. I barely even recognized him. I had previously only seen him as Mr. Collins in Pride and Prejudice (1995 version - the good one), and then he pulled off a very good Hitler. He'd lost a bunch of weight too.[Edited on January 2, 2009 at 9:12 PM. Reason : s]

I was wondering who he was! Yeah he's lost quite a bit of weight... I enjoyed it, of course if you know anything about WW2, you knew they failed in the end just the manner of how it went down was what made the movie entertaining to me. I kinda felt bad for the Reserve guys, they seriously got pitted on side against the other.
