according to the refs, its also a TD if you gain possession of the football with both feet down in the endzonei know i've seen td's in the back or side of the endzone where the ball was out of bounds and the players feet were in and those were touchdowns, but the ball had also crossed the plane[Edited on December 14, 2008 at 7:21 PM. Reason : .]
12/14/2008 7:21:13 PM
yeah, it has to cross the plane, so they decided that when his feet were down the ball was across the plane... very close
12/14/2008 7:22:57 PM
but the explanation he gave was about having possession of the ball with 2 feet down in the endzone, not anything about the ball's position on the goalline's plane, just about his feet being in the endzoneif i had dvr i'd rewind to hear what he said[Edited on December 14, 2008 at 7:24 PM. Reason : .]
12/14/2008 7:24:26 PM
he said it crossed the plane
12/14/2008 7:25:05 PM
I didn't rewind to check but I'm 99.9% sure that the ref didn't mention anything about the ball crossing the plane because I was listening for it. He said the WR had possession of the ball with two feet in the end zone.
12/14/2008 7:29:26 PM
"the recevier had 2 feet down in the endzone with possession of the ball. we have a touchdown"that call rubs me the wrong wayhe didn't say it crossed the plane[Edited on December 14, 2008 at 7:33 PM. Reason : asdfgh]
12/14/2008 7:32:36 PM
I went ahead and rewound it too and ^ was what the ref said word for word.edit: Harbaugh handled it well, but I don't think the ref that made the call knows the rule.edit x 2: Trent Dilfer said that the ref said after the game that the ball crossed the plan though, I dunno.[Edited on December 14, 2008 at 7:39 PM. Reason : weak refs][Edited on December 14, 2008 at 7:41 PM. Reason : meh]
12/14/2008 7:33:29 PM
12/14/2008 7:39:39 PM
wtf i think tiki is about to make out with eli on nbc
12/14/2008 7:46:56 PM
there was not enough video evidence that showed the ball crossing the goal line. not enough for the ref to call it a TD
12/14/2008 7:48:35 PM
Steelers clinch AFC North and a first-round bye.[Edited on December 14, 2008 at 8:31 PM. Reason : because the Steelers are in the other conference]
12/14/2008 8:15:51 PM
Steelers are AFC.TV said that if the Cowboys lose then Panthers will clinch a playoff spot. If Giants lose and we win out then we get homefield throughout. Tough call to know who to cheer for.
12/14/2008 8:17:09 PM
if dallas wins tonight, then next week would be for the number 1 seed and if the panthers were to win, week 17 would not matter.but if dallas loses tonight, we clinch a playoff spot... and have to win week 16 and 17 to get 1 seedim conflicted
12/14/2008 8:18:37 PM
hahaha owens you faggot
12/14/2008 8:28:01 PM
How could any Panthers fan be conflicted about this? A Dallas win would be the best thing that could happen to the Panthers.
12/14/2008 8:28:49 PM
The Cancer should have caught that ball. he'd rather bitch like a little school girl instead of making plays.
12/14/2008 8:28:51 PM
^^ because week 17 would not matter if DAL wins, and we beat the Giants... but i hate the cowboys, so im def pullin for the giants
12/14/2008 8:30:02 PM
steelers arent gonna make the playoffs...oh wait, where is he?
12/14/2008 8:31:30 PM
12/14/2008 8:32:07 PM
You don't know what can happen the next 2 weeks...the safest thing is to just have a playoff spot tonight. So go against Dallas.(But everyone knows I'm a Giants fan anyway)
12/14/2008 8:33:03 PM
oh shit, misread ur post
12/14/2008 8:33:27 PM
I mean, yeah, if all you're trying to to is make the playoffs, then go Giants. I'm just sayin' a week 1 bye and homefield advantage would be nice too.
12/14/2008 8:35:53 PM
I'm regretfully pulling for the Cowboys.
12/14/2008 8:37:54 PM
you are a tarheel fanhow are you upset that you are jumping on a bandwagon?
12/14/2008 8:38:39 PM
^^well a week 1 bye is guaranteed basically if we win the division
12/14/2008 8:38:42 PM
The week one bye actually depends more on the Vikings because the Giants have virtually locked one of them up but since the Panthers lost to the Vikings they have to hope to finish ahead and not tied.
12/14/2008 8:40:51 PM
^^^ I'm also a UNC grad so no bandwagon here. Furthest thing from it actually.
12/14/2008 8:45:22 PM
I guess they assumed it was already across the plane and it was more a question of it being a catch or not
12/14/2008 8:45:49 PM
Feagles is the God of punting.
12/14/2008 8:49:03 PM
Tell me I'm not the only one who hears "demon Madden" and occasionally "demon Michaels"...like sometimes the audio has some metallic sounding echo?
12/14/2008 8:58:31 PM
12/14/2008 9:05:12 PM
why does romo wear such huge fucking pads? i hate him even more for that
12/14/2008 9:05:21 PM
12/14/2008 9:12:13 PM
good god now they are going to hype romo's back bruise for the whole game.come back when he plays with a torn ACL in a game.
12/14/2008 9:18:15 PM
12/14/2008 9:31:12 PM
When Dallas beats New York, and Carolina Beats New York then losing to New Orleans, and New York wins their last game; who gets the top seed in the NFC, would the panthers because of head to head?[Edited on December 14, 2008 at 9:58 PM. Reason : .]
12/14/2008 9:56:13 PM
duurr yes
12/14/2008 10:02:20 PM
Michaels just said no matter what happens anywhere else the winner next week NY vs. Carolina is #1 overall.
12/14/2008 10:04:52 PM
no he didn't. that is incorrect[Edited on December 14, 2008 at 10:08 PM. Reason : .]
12/14/2008 10:05:38 PM
yeah that assumes we beat new orleans
12/14/2008 10:06:31 PM
WTF. The one time I want NYG's to win and they're choking against the Cowboys.
12/14/2008 10:09:18 PM
i'm completely torn for who i want to win- i hate dallas- a dallas loss would mean a panthers playoff berth- i want the giants to lose for panthers' record sake- i wouldnt mind eli being out next week
12/14/2008 10:13:37 PM
I really think that Eli and the Giants have been exposed with out Plax. And I don't think it is all the Giants but more so Eli.Now I know you Gnat fans will say Jacobs wasn't playing this evening but the Giants def weren't playing like a defending SB champion.NO GO TO RECEIVER MAKES ELI CRY!!!!!!!!!
12/14/2008 11:33:18 PM
that interview was surreal
12/14/2008 11:36:11 PM
the mighty new york football giants have lost 2 straight
12/14/2008 11:36:25 PM
not having Jacobs was far more important that not having Plax. The effect Jacobs has on pulling the linebackers up to the line, thus creating the playaction (which can be thrown to anyone, not just plax) can't be measured. Ware took advantage of this tonight as he didn't give 2 shits about what Bradshaw and Ward did.Jacobs effect is far greater than Plax's.
12/14/2008 11:39:06 PM
He did say that, and it was correct, assuming Dallas won tonight. Next weeks game determines home field advantage, regardless of anything else in Week 16 or 17.
12/14/2008 11:39:40 PM
I haven't studied the records that closely, but I'm amazed that the Panthers haven't locked up a spot in the playoffs yet. You mean to tell me that they could go 1-1 over the next two games and be #1 in the NFC, but go 0-2 and not make the playoffs if the right combo of other stuff happens? That's amazing to me.
12/14/2008 11:43:18 PM
The Cowboys, Bucs, and Falcons would all have to go 2-0 with the Panthers going 0-2 to miss the playoffs.
12/14/2008 11:47:14 PM
i think the craziest thing i heard was that falcons/bucs playoff decision could go to strength of victory? wtfand the giants are def missing jacobs and plax - jacobs more i think[Edited on December 14, 2008 at 11:50 PM. Reason : .]
