I guess the good thing about it is that if I get sick of the watches, I can sell them and recoup some of my money. At least that's what I'm telling myself. I think the two luxury brands I like are Omega and Breitling, and maybe Zenith. I never like Rolex for some reason, maybe when I'm older.
11/23/2008 11:15:52 PM
this is it but the background of the watch isn't correcthttp://www.kenmarwatches.com/images/prod_oversize/42/bulova_12242.jpg ]]

i want Pharrells gold plated G-Shock

Zenith has a great movement.... they used to make the movements in Rolex Daytona's before Rolex produced their own......... but they're in the LVMH group. There are a few 36,000VPH Tag Heuers that house Zenith movements.....You're entitled not to care for Rolex, but you at least have to 'not care for them' with respect. Google the article "10 reasons it's OK to hate Rolex," if you care to see my point. What they do as a company is hands down more pheonominal than any other brand on earth.[Edited on November 23, 2008 at 11:26 PM. Reason : ]

I don't hate Rolex. I just don't see myself wearing them right now. I tend to associate them as more of the middle-age crowd. They do hold their values really well, and they rarely give discount when you're buying them, so they're not a bad purchase from the financial standpoint IMO.
11/23/2008 11:28:49 PM
Patek & Rolex hold their value better than any other brand, and in the vast majority of cases in Rolex - you can own it & wear it for about 4 years & sell it for more than you paid for it.... so you are correct.

^are you familiar with Kobold? I'm starting to grow fond of the PVD Phantom Tactical. Rolex is a great buy. I might buy a Sea Dweller when I get older. I know alot of people love the Submariner, but the magnifying date window is kind of a turn-off for me.
11/23/2008 11:42:43 PM
SeaDweller or Basel release = Deep Sea = Date and no cyclops - - Milgauss is pretty rockin' too (no date, but 41mm)I stick to the major Swiss contenders..... (At least the 8-10 that I consider the 'majors')
11/23/2008 11:49:35 PM
11/23/2008 11:50:29 PM
It's a very pretty watch.... and you never have to take it off (that's a requirement of mine).

There are several of mine that I wouldn't mind letting go - but the Breitlings are my babies... the only one of those I'm not sentimentally attached to is the 18kr Montbrillant.
11/24/2008 12:18:39 AM
i <3 breitling
11/24/2008 12:20:53 AM
i think i've owned like 2 fossil watches ever and some cheap 10 dolla one from kmartstill have the fossil watch but it needs a new battery
11/24/2008 12:24:13 AM
^^^if I get breitling, I'd probably buy it with bracelet, but then get a strap for it. Breitling bracelet has too much bling for my taste, but I'll get it with bracelet so I can sell it easier later on.

11/24/2008 12:30:43 AM
^^Or you could just buy it the way you want it, and refer the person to a dealer later to buy the bracelet as an accessory. That's the greatest thing about them - you can make them practically any way you want....^ Sweet, but I'd still rather have a New GMT or Milgauss - - Why is it in an old style box?[Edited on November 24, 2008 at 12:33 AM. I haven't worn a watch since I hit puberty.I rely on a combination of iPhone, computer taskbar, asking other people and the SUN to tell time.I've seen a few dive watches I'll probably end up buying eventually, but I doubt I will ever wear one without a specific event in mind.

thank you...it was a christmas gift from my parents a few years ago the trade-off for the thin and light titanium is that it scratches pretty easily, so the shined part of the links are now brushed like the rest

11/24/2008 9:43:03 AM
i used to wear a watch all the time. I mean I felt so naked without it. I started working a couple years ago full time and would always take my watch off when at my drawing table and now i never wear one. Just use my phone.
