http://www.charlotteobserver.com/breaking/story/416460.htmlApparently it's only going to be in select neighborhoods, and people will be notified by mail if they can receive service. I really want to drop TWC, but guess I will have to wait till my neighborhood is deemed worthy.

https://uverse1.att.com/un/launchAMSS.do?target_action=serviceabilityCheckyou can see if you can get it, i can, someone go get it and tell me how it is
12/15/2008 9:11:01 AM
Did you do it with the phone number check or by zip code? If zip code, where are you?
12/15/2008 9:17:44 AM
engadget gave the via to tww...so it's as confirmed as this thread is.

I am in the same boat as you BigMan. Though I probably wouldn't switch. I just want to call up TWC with some leverage. My cable bill is mighty high.
12/15/2008 10:50:38 AM
At this time, AT&T U-verse service is not available for this address or phone number as entered:fuck.....

Anyone seen a price list?
12/15/2008 9:46:23 PM
yeah, put in your address and it will let you choose options along with prices
12/15/2008 10:37:36 PM
so their DVR can record 4 streams at once, and play recorded content anywhere in the house.sounds 100000X better than TWCs castrated DVR.and their prices look pretty decent too: http://www.att.com/Uverse/files/ServicePackages_2-23.pdfand it sounds like their promotional pricing doesn't expire like TWCs, and a 60 day money back guarantee is always good too.plz to post reviews
12/16/2008 9:20:52 AM
OH SHIT SONAT&T IS COMING ON THURSDAY TO INSTALL U-VERSEwe got the U200 package with 18 down/1.5 up and 3 DVRs i'll report back once everything's installed
12/16/2008 10:26:49 AM
My fiance's father had this installed yesterday (not raleigh)Neither Z nor I had heard of it, but we're going to switch as soon as possible. Even if it's not unequivocally better, it'll be a new evil.[Edited on December 24, 2008 at 9:08 AM. Reason : lksjdf]
12/24/2008 9:05:13 AM
why has evan not reported back
12/24/2008 11:13:08 AM
LikeNot to rain on anyone's paradeBut channels aren't going to look any better on Uverse. And their content isn't going to get magically improved either. So whats the big excitement?
12/24/2008 12:10:59 PM
an alternative to TWC
12/24/2008 12:15:44 PM
^^You've repeated yourself two times now. The upload on the internet is higher if you really want a specific improvement beyond the benefit of another competitor. Maybe someone will finally pay for NFL network!
12/24/2008 12:24:49 PM
well, for $69.99 you can get the u100 and 18/1.5mbps. to me thats a steal for just the internet
12/24/2008 4:29:03 PM
I would never pay that much a month for internet. What are you legally doing that requires those speeds?
12/24/2008 10:27:45 PM
^plenty of things. Mainly i'd love the 1.5mbps upload compared to 512kbps w/ TWC. For streaming media, FTP, webcam, game server, etc. There's plenty of legal things that would benefit from that type of upload.
12/24/2008 11:03:54 PM
Just making sure I didn't miss anything.

12/25/2008 9:32:35 AM
that homo needs to get back to us yoI gots to know about this shit
12/25/2008 9:36:53 AM
I'd like decent upload so I can stream my music to myself at work and not have it hiccup when my email syncs or my roommate browses the web. the increase in downstream is cool and all, but nothing to do backflips about
12/25/2008 11:07:49 AM
i haven't been back in town to try it out yet, i left on tuesday of that week my roommate was there when they installed iti'll be back around jan 2nd, i'll report back then
12/25/2008 3:25:36 PM
I hope this service is worth a shitTWC just got much shittier after dropping all those channels
12/31/2008 8:57:12 AM
12/31/2008 3:21:26 PM
i heard that satellite is only 23.99 for the basic package
12/31/2008 4:26:54 PM
DirecTV sucks. First two months I was charged $80 (as I should have), then out of nowhere I was charged $180 (November 20). I called, and the man said he corrected it. I was charged $150 the next month (December 20), and I called; they gave me a credit for the 2 months for what I was overcharged, but did not reverse the charge (so in other words I'm still short $170 during the holidays). I get back from out of town today to find my DVR had not recorded anything; apparently I was not authorized to view either PBS or NBC, even though it's on every one of their plans... but no biggie, I'm not missing much, since PBS isn't in HD either. Not bad for month 4 of a 24 month contract, if I may say so.Hopefully 2009 won't suck as much; but as far as I'm concerned, their customer service and predatory nature to get people under 2 year contracts is on par with cell phone companies.
12/31/2008 8:18:12 PM
I'd really like to hear something on this from someone who lives in the Cary area. I'd really like the option of being able to watch the NFL network on a hard-wired service provider.
1/1/2009 2:55:49 PM
supposedly the dude is at my place installing it right now with my roommatewhen i left this morning i took a picture of the VRAD (their DSLAM) right outside my subdivisionsupposedly all of them basically look like this, so look for one of these if you want to know if you can get u-verse or not.
1/8/2009 7:11:37 PM
after reading up more on U-Verse, it sounds like it's not capable of supporting 2 HDTV's in the house.
1/8/2009 7:16:29 PM
yes it isyou can have up to 4 streams, but only 2 of those can be HD
1/8/2009 7:38:29 PM
I keep reading conflicting stories on that. Maybe it depends on the area you live in?
1/8/2009 7:41:16 PM
yeah, they haven't rolled that out to all areas yet but they said they expect to have it everywhere very shortlywe have it here... at least, that's what the rep said last time i called. i still haven't left work yet.
1/8/2009 9:20:45 PM
from my roommate, ScottyP, in another thread:
1/8/2009 9:43:19 PM
OHHHHHHHHHHHHH SHIT
1/8/2009 10:16:20 PM
Are you sure it's MoCA and not HPNA? VZ/FIOS is a supporter of MoCA.
1/9/2009 7:06:59 AM
I hope they have an internet only option by the time they get to my area.
1/9/2009 7:30:38 AM
^^ what internet package did you get?
1/9/2009 7:30:57 AM
want
1/9/2009 7:57:12 AM
yeah, it's HPNA - i just assumed it was MoCA we have the U200 TV package with 4 receivers and the 18 down / 1.5 up internet packageas you can see, that's the MINIMUM. the installer told us that we'd only see it as low as 18 down when we had all 4 receivers watching tv as well.
1/9/2009 2:35:45 PM
this must be the most spotty coverage of service that exist's...I cant locate one damn address in Cary that has service.Has anyone found a map of coverage yet?
1/9/2009 3:00:39 PM
their website has been sorta strange on accepting addresses latelyyour best bet is to call them and ask
1/9/2009 3:06:58 PM
gah i wish this shit was available in asheboro..but hell, i can't even get TWC where I live
1/9/2009 3:25:45 PM
what's the verdict evan?yay or nay? It seems like a yay at least for the internet. What about the cable? What is the HD service like? More HD channels than TWC?I have soooooo many questions because I'm so excited (and jealous).
