All I can think of after reading this (besides YAY for the Eric bit) is that I need to reread some of the last few books. Def blew through them way too fast!! Thanks for the fun info

no...Eric's maker in the books is an older vampire named Appius.Godfrey (Godric in the show) was just an old child vampire that liked to feed on children, not Sheriff of Area 9 in Texas (Stan was Sheriff and a nerd not a badass cowboy), that just went missing. Eric was just merely concerned about an old vampire being kidnapped so he asked Sookie to help out. There was no personal connection.[Edited on September 2, 2009 at 2:17 PM. Reason : ]

Who could the family member be? Another fae? Couldn't be her cousin's son... I am confused. And I am sad I am going to have to wait all the way till spring to find out.

i have a question, do Zombies exist at all in the books? i mean has anyone been brought back from the dead long after they lived?
9/4/2009 12:25:06 PM
No. No zombies, or anyone brought back from the dead. There is witchcraft and apparitions are brought back to find out how they died, but that's the extent of life after death in the books.

i thought about putting this in the show thread, but i think it's best served in here since it does have spoilers, and some of the questions the interviewer asks only one that has read the books can possibly ask.SO...SPOILER WARNING here's a link to an interview with Alan Ball about the conclusion of season 2, changes made from the books to fit the series, and what elements may come for season 3 from Club Deadhttp://www.tvsquad.com/2009/09/11/alan-ball-of-true-blood-the-tv-squad-interview-full-transcrip/

Dennis O'Hare to play King of Mississippi Russell Edginton in Season 3http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/09/14/true-blood-scoop-denis-ohare-crowned-king/?xid=rss-msnbc(I have no idea who this guy is... )
9/14/2009 3:35:42 PM
Well the books are written from a very feminine point of view I think and limits the reader's experience explicitly to Sookie's experiences. I think True Blood does a great job in ensuring that each character is well developed through their relationships with other characters. All in all, it's still a good read.

new cast member 4 & 5...and Kristen Bauer (Pam) is moving to the permanent cast role instead of guest star--w00t!recently cast has been Talbot (Theo Alexander) and Coot, the leader of the werewolf biker gang, (Grant Bowler)http://www.buddytv.com/articles/true-blood/true-blood-season-3-casting-ro-33043.aspxhttp://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/12/08/breaking-true-blood-promotes-pam/And I guess this is the best thread for cast announcements versus the other thread. Since they are primarily casting people from the books and new characters might be considered a spoiler to non-readers...except for Sam's brother and Bill's wife. Anywho! YAY PAM!

im going to be very careful with how much of this thread i read because i'm just starting upi got books 1-4 at the library and read book 1 in two sittings. im also netflixing true blood and i'm almost done with season 1. its fun for me to read ahead of the show then see how the show portrays it. i know i will get way ahead of the show once i get deeper into the series but the books are really quick to read and interesting. time just flies by.i look forward to reading more of the thread once i finish more of the books and tv series

I just started Dead and Gone. I want to read it super slow since Dead in the Family won't be out for a few more months. Any other books I should pick up to read while waiting? Someone suggested the blood brother novels but I don't know much about them.

Read Dead In The Family...Not my favorite. I waited for this book for months and now I'm like...THAT'S IT? Really unimpressed. Jumped around too much, no real action...Sookie just kinda floated through the entire book.[Edited on May 16, 2010 at 3:31 PM. Reason : boo hiss]
5/16/2010 3:27:45 PM
Yeah I'm not the biggest fan of it, but I didn't hate it. I agree there was no real action and Sookie just kinda floated around, but at the same time as over the top and packed full of action book 8 & 9 were I felt a slower pace and more establishment of Sookie & Eric's relationship was needed.Hopefully the next will pick up the pace a bit.
5/17/2010 10:09:00 AM
I was also kinda hoping for more with the Sookie Eric storyline....or the Bill and his sister line. Anyhow, agreed. Maybe the next will pick up the pace. Also, when is the next one coming out?
5/17/2010 5:32:45 PM
I checked her website earlier when I posted, but there wasn't a release date yet. Seems like it's always a May release, so my guess is next May. And yeah, the Bill/vamp sister storyline was pretty interesting and I wish that was fleshed out more. unfortunately we don't get as much w/ it all from Sookie's perspective (a reason I love TB...more perspective + new directions/better fleshed out plot lines in some cases [except Maryann--wtf]) so I'm sure that's why. My hero! So I watched the 1st 8 min after game of thrones went offJesus that was bad...cheesy effects...just hurt...BUT! They seem to be, like many other story lines, introducing the fae conflict earlier which is good and i can get behind that.
6/19/2011 11:04:06 PM
Finished the next book...kinda boring. ergh.
6/20/2011 5:21:20 PM
The end is near http://io9.com/5821203/charlaine-harris-13th-sookie-stackhouse-novel-will-be-her-last-true-blood-bookAnd anyone upset that Claudine is dead in the show? Anyone think it might not have been her? (another fae is disguise mayhaps?? This was suggested by my SIL). Personally I'm not upset. I think the show has gotten crazy adding new characters that aren't in the book (except Jessica...good addition w/ her), and just adding characters in general. If anything this will really kick start the fae war (if they are going there). The one dead character I wish was still alive like the books is Calvin Norris. And I'm not upset about Sophie Ann cause ERW ruined her for me over time.

word on the street is Christopher Meloni (Detective Stabler from L&O SVU) is joining the cast...perhaps as a powerful Vampire, but I wonder if they're casting him as Quinn! I could totally see him as Quinn (albeit maybe a little short)

Sweeeeeet!I've got to pick up book 12. Beethoven I saw where you just finished the first 12. What do you think of this one in relation to her last two?
6/1/2012 11:34:22 AM
I thought it was a good book. I finished it on Sunday. It definitely moves at a slightly slower pace, and it's more fae than previous books. I liked it, but I was bothered by some of the plot (just felt very contrived and woe is me). When you're finished, we can complain about the cliffhanger ending together! It's killing me to wait another year until the next one.
6/1/2012 11:37:12 AM
6/1/2012 11:39:42 AM
Yep, but I think it's time to end it. Although I don't know why Charlaine Harris won't make Sookie a vampire. I think she'd be a bad ass vampire.[Edited on June 1, 2012 at 11:41 AM. Reason : ]
6/1/2012 11:41:27 AM
I'm making my way through Season 4 of the series. I dislike Bill so much more watching the series than I did in the books. I think before watching the shows, I would have been happy with a Sookie/Eric, Sookie/Sam or a Sookie/Bill ending. After watching the adaption, I don't think I want Sookie to end up with any of them, except maybe Eric just a bit.
6/5/2012 3:05:52 PM
Finally read book 12, and I'll def be picking up the last one when it's released in May. The previous two I was not a huge fan of, but this one has me excited for the resolution of the series.
3/11/2013 1:30:00 PM
And the final book is out, and I just finished it in one sitting. Very happy with the ending
5/10/2013 1:25:01 AM
I do not like Niall's portrayal in the show. He's trashy. So far not nearly as cunning and regal.
7/1/2013 1:51:22 PM
With the head shot, Alcide could've been prime candidate to become Bubba. Opportunity missed./book shitRIP Alcide.
