the kubota is only 20 hp, but it is fairly fast. as far as the 4wd and zero turning radius is concerned, it is something in the rear diff that allows the wheels to turn in opposite directions(or keep one wheel from turning depending on degree of turn) at the same time. kubota calls it glide steer.

^yeah, i understand how it would work since i've driven j.d.'s zero-turn tractor. however, the front wheels were castors so i don't see how it could be 4wd since the front wheels would have to pivot.

is that rolling diameter? typical l&g 23" tires are about 21.5 rollling diameter, and 22" tires are at 20.5"Basically you have the equivalent of a dana 35. It works fine for most people throughout the life of the product, but for those guys that put on big aggressive tires and drive the shit out of it will most likely fail. If your yard is mostly flat, you can get away with it. Its hills and pulling heavy objects that will kill them.

Got the Gator blades from Agri-Supply installed, so far they work about twice as well in leaves as the regular blades.

the WHITE was semi ressurected this past weekend. got it cleaned up a little, started it for the first time in 2 years, and took it to my parent's place at the beach where it will now reside. still needs a little tlc from being neglected so long, but nothing major. so, i'll be in the market for a replacement soon. hopefully i can find a winter deal on something.

someone asked about zero-turns with the deck out front. I spent several summers on one and hated that shit. mowing fields and shit all it was good for was getting the clippings into the wind just soon enough for you to drive through them.like this it was a diesel and had 1 joystick instead of the normal 2 bars. the joystick wasnt great for straight lines, especially if you could manage to doze off on the loud ass thing like i could.

It's so damn easy to service my little Deere and you don't even need any tools really. Wish it were easier to keep it clean, although in her defense she does see a bit more mud than your average unit. Hopefully I have finally located the perfect tire to replace the turf tires, and if all goes as planned getting stuck will be a thing of the past.

Ive got a Gravely 20-G lawn tractor from like 92 or something like that. 60" deck, red paint, you cant kill that thing. Its been run hard its whole life and still works great.

Carslile Tru Power FTW! 23x8.50-12, a little narrower so had to use some tubes to get them seated but holy fuck the thing is damn near unstoppable now!Old turf savers:New cleats:Diameter worked out perfect too, couldnt be any bigger and not rub the deck when it swings back and forth.Got em on and went right back to the hole I was stuck in for the above photo, drove into it, stopped and drove right out. It never spun, never hesitated. As far as damage to the grass goes, I only notice it after I have been doing wheelies.

The downside is definitely front suspension, or lack thereof. I get so much traction in the rear now that its sooooo easy to plow the front wheels insead of them actually turning the tractor. That seems to be the only way I could get stuck now, if that happened and the rear tires just dug and dug.Anyone here use a dethatcher? Will it get all the sticks out of my grass?

we used to use a dethatcher sometimes at work. it'll pull the sticks up to the top if they're embedded in the grass or something, but you're still gonna have to go around and pick them all up.

Hell yeah they were, then I double checked the sidewall. It literally takes 5 seconds to swap the tires on this thing.[Edited on October 28, 2009 at 8:55 AM. Reason : I think I was less prone to get stuck with them backwards actually]
