My point was yeah the mr2 is slow. But it isn't THAT slow. Esp compared to a 300zx non turbo, or a 328ci. I would think 140hp in 2090 lbs is similar to 193hp in a 3200lb car (328ci). An mr2 should be capable of epic MPG. I wouldn't be surprised to see 35-40mpg out of one. I wouldnt buy an mr2 though. E36 M3 four door baby! I never said you COULDN'T daily drive it. I'm saying you're choosing to live with A FUCKING LOT of trade offs for not much if any gain. The visibility is terrible. The gas mileage is compromised by the angle of the windshield. The engine is very buzzy. The cabin is small. It's a honda but it's not a civic. You are not going to see boatloads of 250k mile S2000's ever. Thats my only point here. There are plenty of cars PERFECTLY suited to be daily driven that perform. Comparing a 3,000$ miata to a 13,000$+ s2000 should be a crime amongst itself. Go sell all your car(s) for a convertible you cant buy with one paycheck and come back. You may think differently.OP you're welcome to check mine out if you want. It has a rollbar and a hardtop though so you might not get a good feel of what the car is really like stock. The bar kills some leg room and the top gets rid of all the blind spots/visibility problems and wind noise.$0.02[Edited on October 2, 2008 at 8:05 AM. If the 300zx is really clean, stock, low miles, and twin turbo, I'd definitely consider it

^^Dude, you know my name so no need for that remark. Plus, I was just saying that SOME people can DD one. As you know I'm looking to get one myself. Sure visibility out of the back isn't good, but that applies to any convertible so why bring it up. Gas mileage compromised by the angle of the windshield? The low gearing is probably more responsible for that ^Not going to find a TT for $13k.From what I recall the MR2 can go 0-60 in the mid 6 second range which is great for a 138hp car. FYI I looked up trunk space for a few of these cars. The MR2 has 1.9 sq ft, the Miata 5.1 sq ft, and the S2000 5.0 sq ft. Also, if you care the S2000 has an ULEV rating.

If you take the spare out (mx5 has no spare) you probably gain another 1.5cu feet of space.

^I agree, but a convertible top will still never have the visibility of a fixed top.I've seen magazine numbers for the MR2 of around 6.7 to 60. And of course, after the 1/4 mile i have no doubt it fades back.
10/2/2008 8:12:00 PM
^ Not necessarily. Exige vs. Miata => Miata has more visibility. In general, sure, but we both know that wasn't the point and I'm sure every single person in here understands that in general convertibles sacrifice some visibility.[Edited on October 2, 2008 at 8:33 PM. Reason : ]

i've seen quinn bitch about trying to daily an s2000 a lot & i've come to the conclusion that he is just a pussy. the same kind of pussy who thinks their factory sport suspension is too "harsh"
10/2/2008 8:54:06 PM
I wouldn't call him a pussy over that shit. "sensitive" yes... [Edited on October 2, 2008 at 9:09 PM. Reason : .]

Dude, the suspension in a stock S2000 is downright tame and compliant. I'd love to "have" to live with an S2000 everyday, god damn son.[Edited on October 2, 2008 at 9:14 PM. Reason : ]

No, it sounds like an absolutely sick nasty 9000rpm I-4 (At least the 2.0, son). NOTHING about it is buzzy or beehive like. There has never been a car that sounded like a beehive. In fact, there would be absolutely no way I could handle not putting a Buddy Club Spec III single on there.[Edited on October 3, 2008 at 8:31 AM. Reason : Buddy Club Exhausts FTW, ho.]

I was behind an S2000 the other day with a nice sounding exhaust. I saw the name of the exhaust but can't remember it. It was something like Invicta, that sound familiar? The buddy club exhaust, is it inexpensive or is it cheap?

to hell with a Yaris. I'm not a fan of any car with the speedometer in the center. fuck that noise.

A MR2 is definitely a hairdresser's car.

I used to be gung ho about getting an MR2 as a daily driver until I drove one. From all the reviews it's a reliable, fun car to drive that can get very good gas mileage.I'll admit, it's a fun little car, but you couldn't pay me to drive it daily. I'm 5'7 and change, and not only is the cabin tiny for me, but there really is no storage space to the point where the odds of me being able to fit a pair of shoes in the frunk without removing the spare tire are right around "slim to none". Not to mention that the pictures of the storage space behind the seat (even though they make it look small) still make it look deceptively large compared to what it is.I'm not a "car guy" so take my advice for what it's worth, but if I wanted to spend X amount on a car and a "luxury" car was in that price range, I'd go for that.
