Thats the ultimate thing that gets me. They were complaining about how some state workers got a bigger raise than them, or how they don't get paid enough, but then I want to say "You have a problem with me making the same or money than you, but I'm in the office all summer while you are hanging out at the house? WTF?"

"This wasn't about labeling teachers Soldiers as overpaid. I think they are already fairly compensated for the job they do. My problem is with the way salary increases and promotions are handled. TeachersSoldiers should not get salary increases (other than cost of living that the rest of state employees get) simply because they have been working for longer."

I think this argument could hold true for US military personal as well as a variety of other civil service jobs also.

"My point was that in the limited sample I come across there is clearly not a problem with income. The 5 teachers in questions are 29-35. They were all teachers straight out of college. We are all first-time home owners and come from middle class backgrounds"

You simply don't know that. They very well could be the next folks on the foreclosure list.

And for fucks sake, first time home owners at 29-35? Are you joking? I don't think anyone here is implying they are starving, but having a job for 7-12 years along with a second income to purchase a home with is certainly not "well off" as you people are trying to imply.

"Let's be honest. You know teachers are more than adequately compensated for the job they do."

It's not what I'm arguing at all actually. I'm just trying to get you to realize your generalizations based on the limited info you have are pretty absurd.
