to be honest, after going back over my list, i could easily swap some ranks, ie colston, andre, etc...i just think Moss is the best, TO and Ocho are right up there, and Smitty is ballin also
8/3/2008 1:54:27 AM
Anyone putting Holt in the top 5 is an idiot. Hell, its hard to even justify him cracking the top 10. He is a shadow of his former self due to age/injury. Just did a quick search and found these from last year:- 2 of 6 ESPN NFL analysts said Steve Smith was the best WR in the league http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2887078- SI writer (and former NFL player) Bucky Brooks ranked Steve Smith #1 http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/bucky_brooks/06/25/top.receivers/index.html

i specifically said i wouldnt put Holt in my top 10(due to age/injury)[Edited on August 3, 2008 at 2:56 AM. Reason : why]

re: my list
8/3/2008 2:53:33 AM
cooli like smith but i'm not COMPLETELY biased
8/3/2008 2:57:19 AM
This is a Bengals fan who can't believe people have Houshmandzadeh over Smith. TJ is a borderline top 20 receiver in a top 5 situation
8/3/2008 12:40:13 PM
i ed at that myself, but as a trying-to-be-unbiased panther fanno offense to tjh
8/3/2008 12:41:34 PM
Yeah, I had a lot of questions about your list, too
8/3/2008 12:51:33 PM
heres my top 15 list:1. Randy Moss2. Terrell Ovens3. Braylon Edwards4. Steve Smith5. Reggie Wayne6. Larry Fitzgerald7. Andre Johnson8. Marques Colston9. Plaxico Burress10. Chad Johnson11. Marvin Harrison12. TJ Housh13. Torry Holt14. Wes Welker15. Anquan Boldin
8/3/2008 1:07:44 PM
if i were to make a list, it would look exactly like ^, except chad johnson would be higher than 10th[Edited on August 3, 2008 at 1:13 PM. Reason : ocho]
8/3/2008 1:11:05 PM
Steve Smith: Damn son, they paid you that much money and you can't even cover meKen Lucas: RABBLE RABBLESteve Smith: *TKO*
8/3/2008 1:18:53 PM
8/3/2008 2:37:12 PM
Now that I've had more time to think about it, I'm adjusting my list per my post above:1. Moss2. Owens3. Wayne4. C. Johnson5. Holt6. Harrison7. Edwards8. Burress9. Driver10. Houshmandzadeh11. Smith12. Fitzgerald13. Jennings14. Colston15. A. Johnson
8/3/2008 2:48:57 PM
too bad steve smith isnt like 6'2"
8/3/2008 2:50:37 PM
Here is my list, I am not going on talent, or potential. This is my list based on predicting production for the 2008 season which to me is what actually matters. So I am factoring in qb, team, situation, not punching people in the face, effort, etc. along with talent.1. Moss 2. Reggie Wayne3. Owens4. Fitzgerald5. Edwards6. C. Johnson7. Smith8. Colston9. Holt10. A. JohnsonHarrison I left off because I feel he'll have a tough year w/ injuries, and Wayne is going to have a monster year. Burress is a physical beast, but I just don't like him as much as the other guys.
8/3/2008 2:52:27 PM
LOL at all this love for Braylon Edwards and none for Brandon Marshall. It's shocking that Marshall hasn't even been mentioned in this thread yet.2007: B. Edwards 89 rec 1289 yds 16 TD2007: B. Marshall 102 rec 1325 yds 7 TDMarshall is younger, he caught more passes for more yards last year, and he's better after the catch. The only thing Edwards has on him is TD's. I guess you guys all play fantasy football. I'm not saying he's better, but having Braylon in the top 5 and BMarsh not even in the top 15 is stupid.PS Greg Jennings is not a top 15 receiver in this league. I don't know who gave you people that idea, but there are a lot of guys better than him. He went from being very underrated last year to being extremely overrated on this board seemingly overnight.[Edited on August 3, 2008 at 2:59 PM. Reason : 2]
8/3/2008 2:55:50 PM
9 More td's, and a better YPC average(depending on how you want to look at the receptions vs. yard issue). 9 more tds isn't like some minor amount. That is a career for a lot of players.
8/3/2008 3:00:59 PM
I put him at number 13 in my post back on page 1and that was conservativeIf Cutler develops this year, he could easily be top 8
8/3/2008 3:01:25 PM
8/3/2008 3:02:21 PM
If you haven't gotten a chance, you should watch Marshall play sometime. The guy is a beast with the ball in his hands. Like a young Muhsin Muhammad before he decided that tearing his hamstring on every catch wasn't worth it.Being a Charger fan, I hate him. But he's gonna put up some monster numbers this year if the league doesn't suspend him for too long.
8/3/2008 3:04:11 PM
^FWIW I had Marshall on the outside looking in. He is talented, but 13.0 YPC is an awfully low rate for someone who has so many drops. Like Jennings, I'd like to see more. I wonder when I'm going to see more though, considering the offseason injury and possible suspension.
8/3/2008 3:08:26 PM
heres my top 15 list: (based on expected production THIS YEAR)1. Randy Moss2. Terrell Owens3. Reggie Wayne4. Chad Johnson5. Larry Fitzgerald6. Braylon Edwards7. Steve Smith8. Brandon Marshall9. Plaxico Burress10. Torry Holt11. Marvin Harrison12. Anquan Boldin13. Marques Colston14. Roddy White15. TJ Housh16. J Cotch [Edited on August 3, 2008 at 3:17 PM. Reason : 2]
8/3/2008 3:14:59 PM
Production vs Best receiver will produce markedly different lists for lots of peopleLike you with Roddy WhiteFew would argue that he's one of the top 15 receivers in the leagueBut being Atlanta's only real option, he may very well produce top 15 numbers
8/3/2008 3:21:20 PM
Yeah, c'mon Prawn Star
8/3/2008 3:22:04 PM
8/3/2008 3:23:21 PM
^^Thats why Housh is so low, and Plax is in the top 10 despite never gaining more than 1250 yards in a season. Production not being just stats but production on the field.Of course I considered the offense they played in. Nobody actually saw because he's on Atlanta, but Roddy White was pretty damn sick last year despite catching passes from Joey Harrington. Plus he's young and will only get better. C'mon, how is 1200+ yards in Atlanta's anemic offense not impressive?[Edited on August 3, 2008 at 3:29 PM. Reason : 2]
8/3/2008 3:25:46 PM
8/3/2008 3:27:29 PM
The same reason scoring 25 points for the Bobcats wouldn't be that impressiveWhen you're getting the vast majority of the opportunities, the numbers will come
8/3/2008 3:27:39 PM
^What opportunities? Atlanta's passing attack was pathetic, and he shared looks with Crumpler, Jenkins and Joe Horn. I was high on Roddy before he blew up last year, and I expect him to build on it this year. Just because his team sucks doesn't mean he sucks.^^I phrased it badly. My list is who I would most want on my team for 2008. In retrospect Hines should be on there, I forgot about him.[Edited on August 3, 2008 at 3:48 PM. Reason : 2]
8/3/2008 3:30:14 PM
looking at reciever rankings from 2006 moss wasnt on anyones top 10 list, now he's number #1yall and everyone else have a dumb way of ranking people by their statsobviously having a great QB and good team will give the reciever a much better opportunityi look at the player's talent like catching/dropping, speed, jumping, routs, etc to gage who is goodand by those standards T.O. is in the bottom of the top 10 list& eat my shorts
8/3/2008 9:44:22 PM
laftaAll American10056 Postsuser infoedit post i think owens and smith are over the hill and moss is getting there, but hes still got enough game to be the best DUDE STEVE IS ONLY 28 years old dude. top 5 for sure.

12/14/2008 5:56:19 PM
He's the best!
12/14/2008 5:56:49 PM
He's not even in the top 10!
12/14/2008 5:57:45 PM
12/14/2008 5:58:15 PM
I'd put him in the top ten this year
12/14/2008 5:58:22 PM
Lots of our lists would change....Holt, Ocho Stinko, Edwards, and Marvin Harrison would not be near top 10 lists this year.[Edited on December 14, 2008 at 6:32 PM. Reason : Andre Johnson is #1 as long as Schaub is throwing him the ball]
12/14/2008 6:32:23 PM
