^^^^ I know that, but they still might pull small pieces. I really hope they don't go with the books, since they introduce some supernatural bullshit in the 3rd. But pulling a few ideas here and there I can see happening

i think the reason for the frequent scenes of jimmy smits (besides it probably being in his contract) is to make the audience feel as crowded as dexter

that was the rumor during season 2 last year, but nothing else has been said since. it's still so hard for me to see him as a straight man, despite the hot sex he's been having with Rita. my first love is Six Feet Under, and we all know what kind of character he played then

i agree. season 2 wasn't nearly as enjoyable for me as season 1 was, but i'm optimistic that season 3 will turn out alright.

there's not enough serial killing to be honest. but I'm still loving the show. the subtle humor in this show is awesome

I wish Dexter would find out Jimmy Smits character is killer, and offs him. Thus eliminating him from gaying up this show. It's like, Law and Order:CI adding Jeff Goldblum, just don't do it.

Need more killing, chopped up body parts, something... The first episode of this season was good, second mediocre, and the third one kinda sucked.

I actually CAN confirm this. I saw them both at the Avett Brothers show last New Year's Eve in Charlotte. They definitely looked "close".

He's an Avett Bros fan... just another reason why Dexter rocks.

^^exactly! just one example of how great this season is so far. there's sooo much this season has going for it right now. the WRITING in this season is better than that of any previous ones imo.

the ACTION clearly is not. and there could stand to be some more killing for sure. but the themes that this show is playing with so far this season have been great and consistent. i love how they weave the same themes through not just episodes but also with different people's story lines. they've explored so much more about what it is to be human, what makes you good/bad, etc in this season.

and as for all the jimmy smits...at first i hated the jimmy smits overkill...but now i'm digging it because of how well it plays with this "human" side of dexter.....if that real human side even exists. i love following along and see his character evolve, because just like dexter himself, we're trying to figure out what makes him human and what makes him a robotic serial killer. seeing dexter try to figure these things out and going back and forth on them has been some journey.

this last episode on roles we all play was stellar btw. and the asian guy had me lollinz all over the place.

i was all like at the end of episode 5

but did you guys see the scenes for the next episode?

SPOILER ALERT

made it look like miguel set dexter up to get caught. it'll be really interesting to see how things will end up with miguel and dexter. the options are either a) miguel tries to use dexter and control him so miguel dies b) miguel knows already or finds out that dexter killed his brother, tries to get dex for it, and miguel dies. imo anyway.

also, the chicky hines (sp?) case wasn't mentioned in this episode, but clearly it'll be revisited soon. probably somehow relates to some dirty scheme of miguel's that he ends up using against dexter.

^^ah yeah you're probably right. it was probably some misdirection in the editing to make it look like prado was screwing dexter. the writers wouldn't do it in the next episode at least. they'd play it out some more. and yea i could see miguel taking the fall for dexter. everyone else who saw dexter for who he was ended up dead. it would probably be too obvious to have dexter kill miguel too. who knows?!!?

I think miguel rushing out was actually maybe a diversion, at the least it takes attention away from him as being the one that let that guy escape. and perhaps he has an escape plan already worked out with dexter.

so i guess they weren't supposed to notice the inmate went missing so soon. that random copper said he had to go put the band on his wrist so that's why they discovered him missing and they started the manhunt. if that copper hadn't gone in there to put the band on him, no one would have noticed him missing and the plan would have gone off without a hitch.

that's awesome that miguel managed to get them out of there. and i think it's great how miguel has turned into this crazy guy who wants to kill bad people, just like dexter. definitely enjoying this season much more than season 2.

outstanding. I still had doubts about Miguel up to now. But there is no doubt, now, that he's in it for the long haul. Probably too eager for his own good.

... but yeah, too bad he will end up dead before the end of the season

I am just wondering if the people really into season three have been watching since the first season? This show has gone steadily down hill since the first season. I watch this season with just audio while I do other things on the computer. First season was incredible, two was good but a little over the top, season three is just like the third movie in a trilogy--terrible.

?

I think you'll find that you're in the minority. I've watched since the beginning, and while S1 is still the best, S3 is a considerable step up from S2.

It's taken a different turn for sure, but that was pretty necessary I think to keep it rolling. He couldn't just go on killing person after person, with nothing else in his life changing.

of course, how they decide to deal with the baby and the marriage will have a huge impact on future seasons.

Gotta agree, S1 was the best, but S2 wasn't as good as S3, though the first episode or two of this season did drag along.

I think Miguel is going to do something stupid, and Dexter will end up killing him.

This season is so unbelievably weak...I am baffled by people thinking this is a step up from two. Jimmy Smits character is not interesting in the least. Rita and Dexter's marriage and pregnancy? This is definitely not the kind of drama I watch this show for. Deb's character is more and more annoying and pathetic than ever before. LaGuarda being a slut who just has happened to have some kind of history with every character also not very interesting. The hallucinations or whatever where his dad talks to him? Come on. The plays on words that everyone raves about get an occasional chuckle from me, but even most of those seem very, very cliche and predictable. I cannot believe I am in the minority on this, but to each their own.

^^ im inclined to agree

season 1 was awesome but it was also based on a book

the writers took a different direction from the rest of the books so thats probably why you're detecting the differences in season 1 and 3

we got 2 more seasons, at least, after this one. i hope they dont turn this show to complete shit

I think this is a great season, much better than season 2-- although maybe you guys don't agree because you don't get to see as much tits as you did the first 2 seasons

Also, this rivalry thing thats going to go down-- you know its going to be tense.

True.

Miguel is as good as dead, I think I called it in the 3rd episode of the season. I enjoy this season a lot more than 2. While Miguel is no Doaks, and I didn't give a shit about Lyla (except her boobies), I enjoy this season a bit more. Things really are starting to get crazy, with Dexter realizing he's being used and all. There are a number of things that COULD happen, but I think any of the ways that things can turn out will still be intense as fuck.

I'm curious about the future of the show. I was told there won't even be a season 4, but I am sincerely hoping that is incorrect.

Showtime picked up Dexter for Seasons 4 and 5 back in October.
