It's illegal in the NCAA IMO.The only way they're able to use 11 players with eligable numbers is because they're taking advantage of a loophole in the rules (that's the way I see it at least) and claiming that they are using a scrimmage-kick formation (a formation with at least one player seven yards or more behind the neutral zone, no player in position to receive a hand-to-hand snap from between the snapper’s legs, and it is obvious that a kick may be attempted) on every down. It's an exploit of a loophole in the High School rules in most states and it wouldn't fly in the NCAA as-is.

yes, this has been established.

video wouldnt work for me :*(
7/25/2008 2:53:00 PM
^^ I didn't see anyone actually conclude that is was or why it was illegal...just discussion on if it would work.Anyways, I think it's shitty...and especially how they act like it's the future of football.

^^Ah, the girl said something about it. That's why I missed it. I saw her huge post about the bitchfight everyone was having on page 1 and skipped the whole post.Anyways...works for a lower skilled high school team...that's about it. An adjusted version might be good for a trick play here and there, but that's about it. The article blows smoke up this guy's ass.

^don't see why the fact that it only works in high school is an issue, since the guy is a high school coach
7/26/2008 8:40:33 AM
^Thank you^^The coach is a dealing with a school that is a 1/3 of the size of the other schools in his district and winning football games. There are about 5 guys who post regularly in Sports Talk who have a clue what they are talking about. The rest just regurgitate bullshit that they heard on sportscenter
7/26/2008 2:56:43 PM
^ and ^^ the reason it is important to point out that it only works in high school is because the article and people on this forum were talking about it's potential use in college and pro.

welcome back
11/8/2008 11:42:08 PM
I'm pretty sure I proposed the 2 qbs in shotgun formation idea as the solution to winning games with both jay Davis and marcus stone. Just put both of them in there and have the center choose who to hike it to...then everybody is equally confused and psyched out
11/8/2008 11:42:43 PM
we ran something like this in PeeWee football...called it Max Spread or something like that...Harnett Central ran something similar also when i was in HS...but theirs was closer to the Notre Dame Box formation..[Edited on November 9, 2008 at 4:34 PM. Reason : yea]

oh yeah, definitely.but it was still awesome
11/9/2008 9:58:32 PM
There's nothing new about this. It's the old Emory and Henry formation. Spurrier ran it at his days in Florida, Washington and this past week at Arkansas.
11/10/2008 10:01:56 AM
No he didnt
11/10/2008 1:12:59 PM
11/10/2008 1:39:54 PM
Awesome, except it isn't he same thing as this A-11, where everyone is eligable.
11/10/2008 3:17:53 PM
i was only clarifying that spurrier did use the emory and henry against Arkansas.
11/10/2008 3:36:41 PM
Got it,And I was just saying he didn't run the A-11, which is what that post was implying. Whatever Spur ran and this are 2 different things. Although like I said look similar and can do similar things.
11/10/2008 3:50:45 PM
maybe i don't understand what you're saying, but in this a-11 thang, not everyone is an eligible receiver.
11/10/2008 4:01:14 PM
i don't think so either. I think it just means everyone has the potential to be the receiver right? I don;t think everyone can just run down the field for a pass at the same time (although i haven't watched the videos so maybe they do :o))
11/10/2008 4:18:50 PM
^ no you had it right.
11/10/2008 5:44:18 PM
The NCHSAA has outlawed the A-11 in North Carolina. They claim it is not in the spirit of the game. Of course, the forward pass and spread offense haven't always been the way things were done, either.
11/10/2008 5:50:48 PM
haha yeah my fault i didn't mean everyone could just take off downfield calling for the ball. But what Spurrier was doing is basically just giving huge splits between the guard and tackle. It really isn't that crazy if you think about it.This A-11 thing through motion can potentially bump everyone around to be eligable in one way or another.[Edited on November 10, 2008 at 6:47 PM.
