i parked in the burger king parking lot for the better part of a year and took the bus before they caught onalso used to drive backwards on the one-way road off pullen (now the construction entrance) to get past the main campus gates, then hide behind the 1911 building - i figured they'd think no one should be able to get into there and check less oftenwest lot has plenty of buses you can take

At first I rented a spot from one of the frat houses on Maiden Lane. Then I got tired of being accosted by bums and walking past the sketchy people hanging around the belltower mart. I started parking on a residential street near Ridge Road and rode the #4 CAT bus to campus (free with student ID). The bus was always late, so I had to plan around the bus schedule and get up extra early. I finally gave in and paid for a permit in the Coliseum deck. My final semester I used a forged permit that I made myself. You could park in Cameron Village and walk or take the bus (#12 I think). Just park your car in different places so that no one notices the same car parked in the same place every day. If you don't get back until evening, park it near a restaurant, where it's common to have cars parked at night. Take off any stickers and license plate frames to avoid recognition from repeated sighting.BigMan157: What happened when they caught on? Was it towed or did they just tell you not to come back?[Edited on July 21, 2008 at 5:06 PM. Reason : ?]

my roommate didn't have a permit and parked on campus for the entire school year last year for about $40 (4 parking tickets for the whole year). he parked in dan allen deck and behind jordan a lot and only got a ticket four times. you only get $10 tickets if the parking space is a pay-per-minute type thing such as harris lot (meters) or dan allen deck (pay station), but you get a $40 ticket for parking in a permit lot.

Only time I used my parking pass was when I lived on campus. If you live close to campus, just take the wolfline, saves you time. West lot isn't any further than if you parked at a shopping center. I wouldn't risk getting towed but if you want to try to get a parking spot near campus in a shopping center, contact local businesses. Some of them will sell you a parking spot for cheaper than on-campus parking.
