i can't believe this hasn't been posted here:http://rockband.scorehero.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11340Game Informer article about RB2. So much excellent news, but I'll let you all ready about it.PREMIUM DRUM SET IS ALL MINE, BITCHES.
7/11/2008 12:40:27 PM
this all sounds good
7/11/2008 1:16:38 PM
I do like that the new drum set has attachments for cymbals at a later pointnow if only when I RMA my drum set I could get a pair of those back in the mail.....
7/11/2008 1:24:48 PM
the best part about it: you can just buy an electronic drum brain and plug it in, and you've got yourself a real (fake) drumset. For someone like me, who was considering getting a real set anyway, that's totally awesome.
7/11/2008 1:49:51 PM
Kotaku had an 83 track list of rumored songs. Most of them were in the rumored 60 track list. Take it for what it's worth.
7/11/2008 10:38:00 PM
I wonder how many people will need throat surgery after trying to sing Ace of Spades?
7/11/2008 11:02:35 PM
7/11/2008 11:35:39 PM
looks great
7/12/2008 10:37:56 AM
Ace of Spades FTW
7/12/2008 10:46:15 AM
i really like that list
7/12/2008 1:07:56 PM
Bad Company Shooting Star, Dinosaur Jr Feel the Pain, Fleetwood Mac Go Your Own Way, Jethro Tull Aqualung, Nirvana Drain You, and Talking Heads Psycho Killer = OMGOMGOMGSqueeze Cool for Cats = LOL
7/12/2008 9:35:01 PM
So that 84 song list up there was just confirmed to be legit. Also announced, they will all be master tracks, no covers. And there will be DLC 20 songs available at launch that you will be able to get for FREE.
7/14/2008 2:45:19 PM
WTF? You have to pay to get the RB1 songs into RB2?It's under $5, but still? what is that fee for? http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/14/rock-band-disc-content-can-be-ported-to-rb2-for-5/]
7/14/2008 3:42:39 PM
I think that's a really trivial amount for the convenience. I wonder how they'll prevent people from borrowing their friend's disc and downloading the data. Maybe each RB1 disc has some sort of unique identity.
7/14/2008 4:05:47 PM
hahahahahahaso much for them "caring for the fans"^ even if it is "trivial", when does it stop? Why not $0.25 every time you want to download a demo?$1 to hook up your xbox to your pc to play music?Just because it's not breaking the bank doesn't mean it's not completely BS[Edited on July 14, 2008 at 4:08 PM. Reason : .]

I don't know where people get this idea that game companies are altruistic entities out for the customers' best interest. They're businesses trying to turn a profit. In that respect Harmonix has demonstrated an overwhelming willingness to advocate for consumers. Just because they can't make heavens open and the angels sing doesn't mean they're incredibly greedy. They do have to work with EA, the company who made people PAY to unlock codes.Rock Band 2 already looks to give the best value of any music rhythm game to date. 84 songs, all master tracks and 20 additional songs for free. $5 for the convenience is nothing.
7/14/2008 4:25:49 PM
I was referring more to the people that will break their neck to defend Harmonix
7/14/2008 4:28:20 PM
possible reasons for the transfer fee:-to make a tiny bit off the thieves who transfer the songs from a rented or borrowed disc-to slightly deter said thieves-to recoup the cost to develop the transfer process-if the 'transfer' involves downloading anything at all from live (possibly the entire songs), MS would want a fee even if it would otherwise be free-maybe some bands had a change-of-media clause or somesuch that entitles them to a few cent per transferIf you don't think $4-5 is worth it to avoid disc swapping, just don't pay for it. you're sure as shit not entitled to it at all
7/14/2008 4:31:34 PM
Billy Idol! Now I'm going to have to get this game. I've wanted Billy Idol music in Rock Band ever since I saw that you could create a character to look almost just like him.

they were talking about rb2 on 96 rock this morning and the woman on there was like "i hope this one has a tambourine!!"apparently she's never played the game...
7/15/2008 8:28:27 AM
hahaha wow
7/15/2008 8:33:52 AM
hahahaha, that's awesomeI still think they need a cowbell attachment that will be inserted in the cymbal slot on the drums
7/15/2008 8:35:52 AM
that list above has also been confirmed
7/15/2008 10:57:16 AM
Here's an explanation as to why there's a $5 fee. Basically they have to re-license every song over again in order to put it into RB2http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/15/harmonix-clarifies-rb1-compatibility-to-rock-band-2/
7/15/2008 9:39:41 PM
I'm way excited about the journey songAlso, surprised they chose to include static x
7/15/2008 9:48:51 PM
they also mentioned some of the RB1 songs won't be making it over to RB2. Train kept rollin' is pretty much guaranteed not to make the jump because of GH:Aerosmith. Good riddance.
7/17/2008 9:36:04 AM
So is it better or worse for music gaming that Act and Harm split? On the one hand, it now causes competition and they are always striving to outdo the otherbut then again, we don't have access to several songs because of licensing and all that junk
7/17/2008 9:42:36 AM
so about the new drum set, if it can be converted to a real fake drum kit, then can i go the other way? i have a real fake drum kit, how can i hook it up to use it in rock band?
7/17/2008 10:05:28 AM
i doubt it
7/17/2008 10:29:28 AM
Yeah, that re-lisencing fee is a royal pain. Konami had to go through the same thing for DDR. That's why Pump It Up usually just lisenced a few specific unique artists to do songs specifically for their songs. Unfortunately, that cop-out isn't an option for a game like this that's actually going to be, you know, POPULAR.I cried when I saw Battery on the list. For one, I'd love to play this song, but god damn, I think that's about the only thing I could think of that would be harder than Blackened.

i always thought the game was so dark. i mean i know you have little avatar characters like GH, but it just seems so bland while you're playing...
7/18/2008 8:59:51 AM
Can you really focus on what's going on in the background?Watching some of the youtube music videos on these songs in RB2 though, I do wish they could splash those in the background, lol
7/18/2008 9:16:23 AM
i rarely notice anything but the little multi-colored bars flying by. the only time i really notice anything else that's going on is during black hole sun or any of the other songs w/ the strobe light effect.
7/18/2008 9:21:33 AM
solid game
9/14/2008 11:04:03 PM
I'm kinda hoping the 20 song free DLC will be revealed before the ps3 version comes out at least, but not holding out too much hope
10/7/2008 11:38:18 PM
I'm still kinda hoping the Wii will have DLC at all
10/7/2008 11:49:59 PM
^I'm pretty sure they just announced that. I'm looking forward to the offspring tracks this week.
10/8/2008 7:25:10 AM
^You're right! I'd been too busy to follow it lately so this is great news
10/8/2008 8:06:58 AM

just preordered mine: http://search.deepdiscount.com/search?w=rock%20band%202&free shipping, no sales tax. waiting another week is worth saving $30, i think.i doubt i'll be getting the cymbal pack. it'd be lame to hit the cymbals and have tom sounds come out of them. the double bass pedal in the future might be useful, i might end up getting it.
10/8/2008 12:03:40 PM
In the Drum Trainer and during drum fills, the cymbals act as cymbals. It's better than nothing, anyway.and the double bass pedal is really pretty useless, since they don't even chart double bass.[Edited on October 8, 2008 at 12:15 PM. Reason : d]
10/8/2008 12:14:59 PM
im gonna get the cymbal packalso, i have the new drums, def better than the original set
10/8/2008 1:28:22 PM
has anyone tried using pads with the new drum set? I've got some 1/4" gum rubber covers on my RB1 set and was wondering if the change in sensitivity will prevent them from working with the RB2 set.I really like the velocity-sensitive aspect, and especially the fact that it's wireless. But I'm kinda reluctant because I got a really good RB1 set out of the box, it's the only thing that hasn't crapped out on me and I'm not sure I want to take the gamble with a RB2 set.
