Yeah, like on escalations in the war, future screwed up military interventions, additional spy powers for the federal government, more drug-war nonsense, etc.

You forgot "Wall Street bailouts" and "expanding the military-industrial complex."

Price voted against the war to start with, but kept up funding under a support the troops mentality. Lawson seems more anti-war as a byproduct of being anti-gov more than for any other reason. Under a President Obama I'm confident Price will have a great voting record.

Because I'm sure a President Obama will scale back the War on Drugs, foreign interventions, civil liberties intrusions...

Oh wait, not so much?

But that's okay.

Universal Healthcare!

^Well, he actually MIGHT scale back the War on Drugs. Probably foreign interventionism, too... at least militarily.

You do realize Joe Biden's positions on the WoD, right? And civil liberties? And the fact that Obama turned squeamish even at the notion of even marijuana decriminalization?

And this is the same guy who's promising us new, brilliant interventions like in Sudan.

But just remember: hope, change, and Universal Healthcare!

Well, I had a great morning & evening handing out Lawson flyers at the polls today. Hope it helped, but the early returns are full of straight-ticket democrat votes. Which should be illegal, but that's another thread...

Agreed. That sucks. Shoot, not only straight-tickets should be outlawed - there shouldn't even be party affiliations listed. Only names. If you cannot do your own research to find out who these people are and whether you like them, screw you.

^^shit, lets get rid of the names too. Just have blanks and you have to fill in all the names you remember.

The sad thing is, statically, in non-partisan races the person listed first alphabetically wins more often.

I didn't read this thread, but I voted for Lawson based only on the fact that he stated he was against the bailout bill.

When the biggest chunk of the population in your district is the city of Durham and you are the Republican running against a Democrat the same year Barack Obama is running, you aren't going to win.

Hopefully he makes another run, he'll probably fare much better in 2010.
