^^maybe i'll check that out. Harrah's used to be an 'old folks' hangout, but I know it's been changing a lot in recent years due to renovations/being in the marina next to borgata/ etc.
6/25/2008 3:55:03 PM
my grandparent's used to go to Harrah's. They said something about the "yougins" takin' over. Can I call them up and use some of their comps? Or is it specific to the person it was issued to?
6/25/2008 3:56:49 PM
Not sure, probably non transferrable but I have no idea. I'd call the front desk and ask.
6/25/2008 4:00:31 PM
Regarding Tropicana room rates. I stayed there last month on Friday and Saturday. I paid a total of $250 for the two nights (after tax). The internet rate would have been over $700. so you need to not screw with your 4 hour average. dont put that card on the table to be scanned unless you KNOW you'll make it 4 hours.
6/25/2008 4:01:42 PM
How does that screw with your average?
6/25/2008 4:02:49 PM
oh i see. anytime i want to play poker there it should be for at least 4 hours.any other inside comp tips? [Edited on June 25, 2008 at 4:08 PM. Reason : .]
6/25/2008 4:08:13 PM
CarZin was the pilot, iirc now. You sure you don't want to fly my buddies and me next month?
6/25/2008 4:15:43 PM
btwthe rollover at borgata in the poker room for the comps is between 530 and 6 amclock in in the morning, dick off all day, do whatever, just show up and either start playing the game you clocked in for or hand your card to a floor and point at a table and theyll roll you over for the next day toono one is the wiser when you've got like 4 straight days of playing comps racking up at a few bucks an hour
6/25/2008 7:34:33 PM
3 card poker.best odds in vegas.
6/25/2008 7:41:01 PM
and you sir would be an idiot.
6/25/2008 7:46:58 PM
also bet on 00 during roulettei know, i know, they arent the best odds.but its a fun game. ive lost interest in blackjack (too many people who screw the game up) and hold'em (too many wannabes).i like to pick up a new card game when i goto a casino[Edited on June 25, 2008 at 8:04 PM. Reason : ]
6/25/2008 8:02:52 PM
that place is mad ghetto. Vegas is the best but even Tunica, MS is way better than Atlantic City. If you are going to be walking from your motel to the casino (especially with $$$), then you should probably take a gun. When I was there I felt like I was in GTA Vice City the video game.
6/26/2008 1:48:56 AM
I'll always fly people up to ACY if we split all the costs and we get 4 people total. Plane gas runs around 250 there and back. Its about a 2.5 hour flight, and I've made it many many times.
6/26/2008 9:10:32 AM
One other thing to do. Last time I was in ACY, I went to the Comedy Stop in tropicana to see a show. I think tickets were something like 30 a piece. The in house comedian isnt great, but the 2 after him were really good. They have a lot of really good visiting comedians. Well worth the cost when I went.As suggested, take some time away from gambling and walk the board walk. You'll see plenty of things to do.
6/26/2008 9:57:05 AM
And the beach bars should be a good time. Many casinos along the boardwalk have bars over the dunes on the beach with bands every night.

hahathe ole' playing penny slots, getting free drinks trick!!!!heck, just sit at any card table and watch and you'll still be served.. works if you're with someone and they are playing and you're not.btw, order like 2 drinks. lots of places take a long time. surprisingly in vegas it was fairly quick, of course this was a thursday night
6/26/2008 12:11:27 PM
I got plowed playing poker, I was up about 1200 on poker. The problem was that I was down about 3 grand on table games. I drank my ass off in AC, but it's surprisingly hard to get drunk when you're awake for 40 hours at a stretch.
6/26/2008 12:17:37 PM
I'm starting to think I might not be bringing enough cash. I can set a maximum loss of ~200 dollars a night and get trashed easily. What about food? What are the main areas I should concentrate on money wise?I'm factoring 200 bucks fuel both ways split on 2.5 heads. Wherever our "fallback sure thing" hotel for 4 nights is, it's 45/person. We're going up a night early now because one of our buddies scored a free room at ceaser's.80...........Fuel45...........Room50...........Taxis75...........Food (Can I survive on comp'd meals?)50...........Random shit like Batman300And then, I guess I should be prepared to lose a grand in the casinos over the course of 5 nights? Obviously breaking even or paying for the trip is the optimum situation, but who the hell knows how I will react to live play and such?
6/30/2008 11:57:41 PM
Just use your card for non poker shit.
7/1/2008 9:06:10 AM
Yeah I need to google these cards and how to utilize them to the max.
7/1/2008 9:21:35 AM
debit/credit fool
7/1/2008 9:28:28 AM
my first reply was "I will, but I still wanted to get some kind of projected budget so I don't go overboard. Cash reads 'money' 'cheddar' 'loot' and 'plastic'"Then I deleted it all thinking you meant the FP cards.
7/1/2008 9:30:21 AM
Personally I like using cards for everything but gambling so I can keep track more easily of how much I win/lose. It gets a little harder if its all coming out of the same fund.
7/1/2008 9:41:03 AM
bttt
1/8/2010 8:05:21 PM
so yeah....apparently this thread wins out.As i said, im not really looking for gambling tips as much as i am tips on Hotels, Restaurants, Bars, etc etc in town. Which is the reason i created a seperate thread to begin with. Alas, lets keep it going in here.
1/8/2010 8:08:17 PM
Don't leave the casinos. AC is a shithole outside of the casinos.
1/8/2010 8:09:34 PM
the pool at harrahs is one of the new places to go
1/8/2010 11:21:44 PM
I was not that impressed with the pool at Harrah's when I stayed there a couple of years ago. Seemed pretty much like it was just a swimming pool.
1/9/2010 1:28:51 AM
at night it turns into a club/bar/huge party
1/9/2010 6:32:44 AM
Fucking douchebag swimming pool, thinking its ok to be just a swimming pool

while in ac hit up a little place called whitehouse, best cheesesteak you will ever eat, including philly. I think its near one of the trump casinos if i remember correctly.
1/9/2010 3:57:56 PM
Things have been crazy busy this past year. I only made it there once a year ago. This weekend would have been perfect...
1/9/2010 8:01:06 PM
^^ whitehouse subs is famous, best hoagies at the shore period
1/9/2010 9:12:00 PM
what's the better hotel Harrahs or Caesars?we are getting comped at one or the other
2/16/2010 12:00:14 PM
I plan on going to ACY Feb 6-7. I think I am full, but it is possible I might have one seat. If anyone wants to be standby, send me a PM.
2/16/2010 1:58:13 PM
Caesars' is on the boardwalk, Harrah's is by the Borgata in what I think to be considered the marina. You have to cab or take the jitney back and forth between the two.
2/16/2010 4:53:19 PM
i coulda swore Harrahs was at the boardwalk too and the Hilton was at the Marina. But it could be both "H" hotel/casinos at the marina. oh well, either way we are at caesars. thank you industry hookups.
2/16/2010 4:57:35 PM
^nope, backwards. Our room at Caesars was definitely decent.
2/16/2010 5:25:47 PM
Can anyone recommend a good restaurant to celebrate a bachelor party? Right now we are thinking steakhouse, but any style is ok. This would be for a group of 8 guys to get a good meal, good atmosphere.
3/15/2010 10:52:17 AM
was at a bachelor party a couple months ago in ACwent to Carmines (in the tropicana) its italian food and a lot of italso went to docks oyster househttp://www.docksoysterhouse.com/PDFs/docksmenu.pdf
3/15/2010 11:04:47 AM
recommend Carmine's. it sucks it is in the Trop tho; that place has gone downhill majorly over the years and is not all that great compared to many of the other casino hotels.
3/15/2010 11:21:43 AM
Carmine's is good. It is basically a Magianno style resaturant (big family style entrees). its not good, however, if everyone wants a seperate check.
3/15/2010 11:21:58 AM
awesome! keep them coming. we are staying in Caesars btw.
3/15/2010 11:26:51 AM
bttt. going next week. i have to ask, anyone ever purchased any adult entertainment there? The trip is a bachelor party so i'm talking more visual entertainment, not prostitution. It may just be easier to drop by a strip club for a couple hours.
6/16/2010 9:24:11 AM
has anyone eaten at Gallagher's?
6/17/2010 4:52:44 PM
Avoid the Whores of Atlantic City!!
6/17/2010 6:49:17 PM
^^i heard all they have is watermelons
6/17/2010 10:35:15 PM
Bump for any new ideas? Also going to a bachelor party in a couple of weeks in AC. Staying at Showboat, right next to the new casino Revel.
