^^^that's a big piece of the problem. Hey, a new Superman after 15 years. Who's the villain?Motherfucking Lex Luthor. For the 4th time.It would boost the character tremendously to make another movie with Darkseid, Brainiac, Bizarro, or the baddest motherfucker of them all:[Edited on June 15, 2008 at 2:10 PM. You think he's going to phone Batman and let him know he's on the way over to kick his ass?
6/15/2008 4:01:32 PM
Darth Vader could take all of them."I...will...CHOKE YOU!"
6/15/2008 4:01:33 PM
^^^He would go Philip Rivers on his ass
6/15/2008 4:13:35 PM
batman most likely keeps a small bit of kriptonite on him at all times in a lead case. Just in case superman tries any shenanigans.

I agree with the idea of superman’s invulnerability making him a less dynamic character. Part of the reason the x-men are my favorite is the variety of characters and stories they can offer. Mutants are neither all good, nor all bad, and the characters aren’t static in terms of their morality, their world view, and their powers as they learn to use their powers/have secondary mutations. With the wolverine movie in production I can see why the wolverine centering here makes merchandising sense, but it still has such a broad caste that I think it will be good. As a kid I watched the x-men animated series and was a fan. I haven't ever seen x-men evolution series, but I was never a huge fan of the concept of turning all the characters into high-schoolers at the same school. This series however, with the largest adult caste, has promise.I'm also excited about the Magento movie they are working on. The comics are going strong too. Ultimate X-Men just had a battle between Phoenix and Apocalypse which was a pair up I was interested in seeing, and Uncanny X-men (the main x-men series) is about to hit issue 500 so that should be big too.I enjoyed what I've read of the death of superman. I watched the doomsday animated movie too and it was decent.[Edited on June 15, 2008 at 5:17 PM. Reason : .]

yea it would make no sense for him to wind.btwwhat the fuck is apocalypse. I dont think I have ever heard his back story
6/15/2008 7:56:37 PM
From memory...Apocalypse is the oldest earliest case of all the mutants, being born in Ancient Egypt and becoming one of the pharaohs of the time. He has meddled in the affairs of some parts of history, but at one point he became entombed or something and was recently released. He's dealt with time travel and attempting to change history, one story arc involves him becoming ruler of the world in Age of Apocalypse. As far as a mutant goes, he has super strength on the order of 100+ tons and can change his body however he wishes, creating weapons, barriers, or w/e he wants. He can increase or decrease his body size to whatever he wants. I don't think the true extent of his powers has been established.^^That's Ultimate series, so its going to be skewed in some relation to the normal Marvel Universe.
6/15/2008 8:09:09 PM
Marvel's Ultimate series is good for what it is (to let new readers in) but compared to the 616 universe they are just crappy.
6/15/2008 8:13:04 PM
Ultimate Iron Man has the stupidest story possible for Tony Stark. Ultimate Hulk vs Wolverine is pretty retarded too, esp. considering it probably will never be finished.
6/15/2008 8:20:29 PM
there is nothing someone could say to convince me that batman would beat superman
6/15/2008 8:25:01 PM
^ he has kryptonite gauntlets
6/15/2008 8:40:14 PM
Superman could just fly way above the earth and pinpoint Batman with his raybeam eyes and melt him and everything around him.
6/15/2008 8:51:24 PM
^^^^^^To add a little further to this info...- Apocalypse's real name is En Sabah Nur. He was born in ancient Egypt and is considered the first of mutantkind. His mutant power is something akin to immortality, as he's supposed to be part of a group of mutants called Externals. Only a few other mutants such as Cannonball and Gideon are Externals.- At an early age Apocalypse discovered the crashed Ship of the Celestials. It's from this that he derived all of his technological abilities. He used the technology found in the Ship to augment his body so that now the line between organic and mechanical is VERY blurry.- In the 1700's, Apocalypse met a doctor/geneticist named Nathaniel Essex. Essex pledged his loyalty to Apocalypse, and in return, Apocalypse transformed him into Mr. Sinister. - Over the years, Sinister began experimenting with the genepool to create a super mutant capable of destroying Apocalypse. Only the genes of Scott Summers and Jean Grey were capable of doing this. To make a ludicrously long story very short, Cable is the result of this discovery.- In Cable's future, Apocalypse controls everything on earth. Cable traveled back in time in an attempt to prevent Apocalypse's rise to power. Apparently, Cable and Apocalypse have battled each other for hundreds of years at different points in time.- The Age of Apocalypse is one of the most badass comic story arcs I've ever read. We now return to your regularly scheduled Superman discussion.

it's really easy to see why superman lost his appealthis thread has concentrated on how batman could beat or KILL supermaninstead on how superman AND batman could accomplish things TOGETHERnever even mind the notion that wonder woman has been ignoredthe three of them are the sole reason why there are even marvel comics in the first placeit also exemplifies why sequential art continues to wallow in stupidity and can't legitimize itself

okay, superman can fly, has unlimited strength, can punch through steel, faster than a speeding bullet, can leap tall buildings in a single bound.......all that shit. it's like playing goldeneye with invincibility and infinite ammo- eventually that shit gets old. his only weakness is a strange element that's not even found on earth.batman, on the other hand, dons a kickass costume, has a sweet ride, and uses shit like grappling hooks, batarangs, and various traps and shit to terrorize and capture his enemies. it's not just because he has weaknesses that make him a better character, it's just that he's so much more badass and there are cooler villians in the batman universe (joker, penguin, etc) than anyone in the superman universe (lex luthor, fuckers from krypton)
6/16/2008 1:42:23 AM
in the most recent movie he lifts an entire continent comprised of kryptonite. should we even go on talkin about why that's FUCKING BORING?he has no weaknesses so whats the point.

The best Superman battles are the ones in which he fights someone who is on his same level of power. Darkseid and General Zod are a good examples.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoejLjTx8hQ[Edited on June 16, 2008 at 3:27 AM. Reason : typo]

^^^i'm talking about fanboys hurting the form with over-saturation of super hero garbage...stuff like when you go into a shop and you hear people getting riled about "could captain america win in a fight against the sub-mariner"...it just gets tedious after a whilebut i think at this point, manga is crushing that stuff sales-wisei'm not talking about the art form itselfi've pretty much abandoned any of the superhero stuff (except golden age) in favor of things like tony millionaire, frank espinosa, chris ware, 1900-1960s newspaper comics and a host of other traditional illustrators/painters/graphic designers[Edited on June 17, 2008 at 3:05 PM.
