Understandable. It hardly sounds like a reputable source, but it led to some interesting points of view from the our prospective candidates, so perhaps the bias can be forgiven.

honestly, i think both McCain and Obama are pandering to their base to make sure they're on board come November. i don't think either of them sit on the far end of the seesaw. they're way too intelligent for that shit.they're both centrists, have a good head on their shoulders, and mean well. i think the country is in good hands no matter which of them wins.

Of all the possible founding fathers to choose from, Rat chooses Thomas Jefferson to brand as an advocate of "Christian principles."
6/9/2008 10:24:39 AM
I can agree that an anti-christian movement has arisen, but i believe that is in large part due the hypocrisies witnessed by the hands of those who claim to be the most adamant followers of christianity. What people witness in modern days is reinforced by the historical mistakes made and paints a picture that not much has changed and no lessons learned since the early days of christian dominance aroudn the world. I feel some some lessons have been learned, and that in some ways the push back on christianity is an over reactive action. christianity does have many good principles, but until the people who claim more publicly to be the most devout of christians truly lead by example, and become more understanding/less aggressive in terms of the morality of others then the push back on Christianity will not end.

From the Treaty of Tripoli, written by Thomas Jefferson:"As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion,-as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen..."

this nation was created by people wanting religious freedomthey had that in mind when they went ahead threw religious freedom right at the top of our rights.
6/9/2008 11:46:31 AM
actually i think people came here from england in order to practice their choice of religion more freely, but that does not mean that the nation was founded on religious freedom. the nation was founded on freedom of men from tyrannical governments, and that their right be free individuals who are in many ways self governing individuals remain certain and paramount.

Why do I sign into TWW? I don't have any real desire to bash These Here United States of America. I'm mostly satisfied - mostly - with it, and don't have any real motivation to go elsewhere. BUT...

Do you feel the past 232 years have been good to the peoples of this planet?--Overall, yes.Do you feel we are heading in the right direction?--Overall, yes.Have we as a country learned from our mistakes?--Some.Does it generally upset you that the foundation of this country was based upon Christian religious principles?--It wasn't...I'd like to hear your thoughts about this nation and if you plan on living in it and supporting it or if you plan on leaving to another one for various reasons.--Only way I'd ever move out of this country is if our rights were trashed completely. If that were the case, New Zealand, one of the Scandinavian countries and Canada are my top choices.
