i totally and completely disagree. this well-known saying is recorded verbatim, in all three Synoptics.Matthew 19:24 || Mark 10:25 || Luke 18:25if there ever was a verse in the bible that could even remotely be considered the "authentic words of Jesus" -- it's this one. this verse, taken from the "Parable of the Rich Young Man", is in a very small group of verses that can legitimately be deemed "likely authentic"... if you doubt the authenticity of this one then you might as well throw the entire Bible out. because most of the rest is far more suspect.everything about Jesus' mission -- as described by reasonably authentic verses in three synoptics (Matthew, Mark, Luke/Acts) -- speaks to this concept ... specifically: those who continue to cling to dead things and dead concepts (wealth, political power, familial and social status, etc), are likewise dead in the eyes of God and the coming Kingdom.[Edited on May 16, 2008 at 8:14 PM.
