"Support a party?"I don't support the super delegate system. What, am I to jump ship over a difference in election rules?Should I bring up the 2000 election if you want to discuss political parties taking advantage of awful election rules?

Sure, what was different in 2000 than the previous elections?I just find it funny that people bitch about "the people's voice" and voting. Then when you dont like thier vote, call them names. Its also funny that your party has a system in place that will basically trump the voice of the people. Why arent people calling for an end to super delegates?
5/14/2008 9:41:25 AM
Isnt it obvious that Hillary is just staying in, so she get out of that $20million debt her campaign is in?

By "sex ed" at an early age, he discussed teaching kids about inappropriate touching. I didn't think it was that contraversial, at least for people that don't want to see kids molested.I fail to see how Hilary is "more electable" b/c she wins the states that Democrats traditionally win. They would vote for any Democratic nominee barring something big like the party being split. The appeal of Obama is that he he may make states like Virginia, North Carolina, and Colorado more competitive.Hilary may be the "safe" choice in that she is likely to win the same states that John Kerry won, but Obama is more likely to expand the constituency and transform the electoral map.
5/14/2008 10:55:04 AM
Hillary isn't the only candidate with the ability to draw swing voters as VP.John Edwards--whose delegates are going to Obama, I hear--draws his own share of fence-riders, too.

I just wish she'd stop crying all the time and gather some composure. It doesn't speak well to me when she can be so affected and result to crying in almost any given situation.

thirty. five. percent.
5/20/2008 11:51:59 PM
obama has done poorly in appalachia. that has been basically the whole thing. it's really nothing new.hillary constantly harping on how he "can't win the hard-working white voters" hasn't really helped things much, i'm sure with people's idea that a black person is a viable candidate.but, iirc, bill clinton only won something like 38% of the white vote in 1992 in the country.
5/20/2008 11:56:16 PM
^thats false about clinton and Obama isn't black. Bottom line is Obama can only win far liberal states. Maybe a few swing states but he is very pedestrian in the battleground states. So pedestrian that Mccain will beat him by a landslide due to many of the conservative democrats that are going Hillary or Mccain and people with moral values that simply won't do gay marriage and abortion. Its all over for mr Hussein.
5/21/2008 12:00:10 AM
it's going to be fun to see just how wrong you are in november.
5/21/2008 12:01:08 AM
You just don't get it do you? If you face mccain you've already conceded Florida, Michigan, West Virginia and Kentucky. So if the race is close Obama doesn't stand a chance but to even make it a close race Obama would have to win cal ny and pa all blue states of which he is extremely vulnerable in but can't afford to lose yet heavily hispanic. He isn't very strong in Ohio either. What you have to understand is Mccain has 80something percent of his party in almost every state with only around 10% in limbo. while Obama would have ~50% of HIS PARTY in limbo for the general election. Basically Obama would have to win all of those states and steal several reddish states like nc sc va ga to even stand a chance and even then nearly impossible to win a close race without the "racist states".
5/21/2008 12:25:27 AM
let's see how that stuff holds up when the democratic party stops fighting itself and starts fighting mccain and the republicans (which seems like a pretty easy target given what has happened to the economy/foreign policy under their watch).
5/21/2008 12:36:57 AM
You just proved a point i didn't even think to bring up. All you have is the George Bush argument. Well wake up because this is not w. not even close. McCain is a moderate republican and actually hated w(farrrr right) for a while.
5/21/2008 12:43:15 AM
voted for the war and supports tax cuts on the rich (which he originally opposed because of the war), the whole water-boarding issue, "bomb iran", his temper. i mean, i could go on and on.he's not exactly a dream candidate for the republicans.not to mention, john mccain did pretty poorly before the other republicans nominees knocked each other out.he may not be hated by republicans, but i really doubt he'll get the voter turnout required. and oh yeah, who IS good at getting people to the polls? oh that's right, obama.

hillary doesnt deserve to be the nominee for the simple fact that she didnt utilize reverend wright
6/1/2008 7:36:20 PM
^^^ Hey, at least the delusion involved in attributing electability to victory in the Puerto Rico primary is SLIGHTLY less severe than people who thought Ron Paul was a contender because he did so well on internet polls.
6/1/2008 11:08:50 PM
^ The question is about who has the popular vote in the Democratic Party primary. Since Puerto Rico is included in the primary (though their votes don't count in the general), they should not be ignored. And guess what? Her huge win in Puerto Rico gives her the lead in several popular vote metrics. At this point, there is nothing in the rule books to tell the super delegates how to vote. The Obama-ites think they should vote based on who is leading the delegate count, but there is really nothing in the bylaws to make that the official metric. The Clinton-ites think they should vote based on who is leading in the popular vote, but there is really nothing in the by laws to make that the official metric.[Edited on June 2, 2008 at 4:31 AM. Obama is a dying candidate. He was doing well before people learned that he doesn't want to hlep gas prices and how he will sellout his own grandmother and preacher just to try to win. Hillary will have the pop vote. If they nominate Obama just because they like him better it will be a huge conspiracy when the people have chosen Hillary. That hasn't happened in a very long time. Barring a complete meltdown on tuesday, Hillary wins.
6/2/2008 12:44:15 PM
^you seem to know very little if nothing about politics my friend. Hillary is done whether people like it or not.

Tell me who has the popular vote, it ain't hillary. The popular vote argument is specious and flawed from the get go, since states like Nevada, Washington, Iowa, Maine do not report the actual vote at the precincts, only which candidate won the precinct. This isn't Calvinball, you don't get to change the rules as the game progresses.
