so, stupid question, i know, but generally how much does booze run?i'm gonna be packing plenty of cash, but i don't want to wait til i get into a bar to realize i'm going to have to spend $200 to get a buzz.

^Beers are generally 7 to 8 dollars. But you can find them every once in a while for $3 to $4. Mixed drinks are generally between $10-14. But prices can go higher or lower depending on the neighborhood you are in.

Most every bar has a happy hour special every day. Some have really good ones where you can get out for $20-30 shitfaced. Totally depends on the area of town though.^80% of the bars I've been too don't charge more than $6 for your basic light beer, quit trying to scare this guy.[Edited on June 19, 2008 at 7:07 PM. ^ shit, i can't get shitfaced off 20-30 dollars of booze from the store

go to the continental on 3rd ave and St. Marks. 5 shots of anything for 10 bucks.also grassroots down the street has 7 dollar pitchers of beer until 8pm then 9 after that.if you frequent places that have 8 dollar beers then you're most likely a douchebag.

go to this because i can't:http://www.davidbyrne.com/art/art_projects/playing_the_building/video:http://www.pitchfork.tv/special-presentation/david-byrne-playing-the-building/playing-the-building[Edited on June 20, 2008 at 9:52 AM. Reason : you can play the f*ing building man]

As an example Blackfinn (just off 3rd Ave on 53rd) has $20 happy hours every weekday, 6-8 all you can drink everything except premium liquor. If you can't get smashed off 12 mixed drinks in 2 hrs there's something wrong with you.[Edited on June 20, 2008 at 2:29 PM. Reason : its not an awesome bar, rather okay. Just an example though]

Go by Sirius and see if you can get on Stern. Best bet is to take a smoking hot chick with you that is willing to get naked

Here are my restaurant suggestions for Midtown...posted these and others in another thread...but whatever...Burger Joint (118 W 57th St.): Awesome burgers, fairly cheap, but an even better experience. It's located behind a curtain in Le Parker Meridien, which is a super nice midtown hotel...but once you go behind the curtain this place is straight out of a Texas truckstopP.J. Clarke's (915 3rd Ave.): Pretty good burgers...but one of the oldest bars in the city. Most people have probably heard of this so it's nothing new, but the food is actually goodSapporo (152 W 49th St.): My favorite Japanese noodle place. I took my Japanese buddy here and he said it is just like the Ramen restaurants in Japan. HUGE bowl of soup for under $10Avra (141 E 48th St.): Greek food, specializes in serving many different types of whole fish on the bone. Delicious but fairly expensiveAkdeniz (19 W 46th St.): Good, cheap Turkish food. Nothing really that special about this placeWu Liang Ye (36 W 48th St.): Hardly necessary to mention any particular Chinese place in New York, but I like this one better than any other in midtownTiger Halal (49th & 6th): Street Meat. You probably know that you only eat this food drunk...this is the best one by farBombay Express (764 9th Ave.): Basic, cheap Indian place. Looks normal, but it's really good. I don't consider myself a connoisseur of Indian, but I've heard other people talk about this place tooIsland Burgers & Shakes (766 9th Ave.): Not as good as Burger Joint, probably second best in midtownHere is a map of all my favorite restaurants:http://tinyurl.com/62uw8k(yeah I've posted that before too...but it took me a while and I am proud of it :beatup

Don't forget the Shake Shack in Madison Square Park! Awesome burgers and fries, but if you go around lunch time be prepared to wait in a long line. There's actually a webcam you can look at to check the line status.
