I don't get why everyone gets hung up on length. There are plenty of games that drag on too long and kind of ruin the experience. I'll take 6-8 hours of GOOD gameplay over 10-12 hours of stretched-so-thin-that-you're-bored-stiff gameplay anyday.I mean... you don't look at the length of a movie before deciding whether or not to go see it, do you?BTW, this game is good. Rental for me, but only b/c there is so much other shit vying for my time right now.[Edited on November 17, 2008 at 12:47 PM. Reason : d]

I think people care about length so they can determine if they want to rent or buy the game. Considering the length, I will end up renting this game and beat it in a weekend while I'll end up buying Fallout 3 during the holidays.

yeah people just get pissed after they chuck out $60 and 4 hours later have experienced the majority of what the game has to offerI'm Big Business and i approved this message./]

Played and beat it this weekend. It sucked. If you've played the demo, you've experienced all this game has to offer. There's not much of a story, so don't try and look for one. The last half the game was obviously rushed to meet a deadline... it's clear they had originally planned for a lot more. The entire game can be summed up as jumping across rooftops, through sewers (which are pretty spacious for sewers), and waiting in elevators as you make your way through a dry, linear story. When you're being chased, whenever things start to get exciting, you fall and have to wait the 3-4 seconds to reload from your last checkpoint and try again. The innovative idea of free-running in a video game is trumped by the fact that there's usually only one path to your objective, and most of your time in this game is trying to figure out where the level designer wants you to go next.If you want a REAL parkour experience, but in a middle-ages setting; play Assasin's Creed. This game is only good if you have bad taste in video games, and a thing for asian girls.

so you're confirming that its a rentaldoes it have any really good graphics at any parts? are there any moves you can do (aside from advanced unarms) that you cant do in the demo?
12/1/2008 1:27:05 PM
i was able to find a couple of different moves in the demo, so I can't really see how they would integrate additional combat moves. There's not really any more inputs you can do when all you have to work with is different movement situations and RT:-wall run spin kick: wall run + RT-wall run chest smash: not sure, wall run + jump + kick to land on a guy's chest and kill him-sliding ball buster: slide + RTThere's probably some jump kick that just won't work on the enemies in the demo, and maybe a roundhouse kick when you use the Left Bumper to quickly 180.Now I'm considering telling my parents to avoid buying this game and just renting it over break...however, Target is selling it for $44 this week[Edited on December 1, 2008 at 1:34 PM. If anyone is interested in this game you should definitely rent it. I really liked the idea and hope DICE fixes the really clunky combat, add more moves, add a bigger story, and make the levels bigger with multiple paths. The music/sounds and the look and feel of the game kept my attention during the couple of battles you are forced to have. I was digging putting together a couple of moves as I'm avoiding the SWAT teams.

I have a friend who met the model chick, some designers and even the chick who did the theme song and he kept going on and on about how nice this game was. He even said it was better than Assassin's Creed (which is blasphemy to me). I watched the trailers and such and to me it just looks like a pretty free running game. Yahtzee tore this game apart though. Haha.

i just started this today, i was on level 4 of 9 in no time i know i read it was short like less than 6 hours but its been pretty fun so far, especially when you string a good run together without messing up...but then again there are points where it gets frustrating and she just doesnt do what you want her to do, like running across a wall or hoping up somewhere

I was thinking about bumping this thread... since it came out for the PC and all. I'm not that impressed with it, I honestly don't get the hype. ign gave it something like 8.5. For graphics/PhysX I guess.[Edited on January 20, 2009 at 10:40 PM. Reason : -]

^Yeah, its a great game for just kicking back and running all over the place. Kinda like Ninja Gaiden II, you can just pick it up and start going nuts. Of course, for Ninja Gaiden you have to play it on like, easy or medium for that same enjoyment
4/19/2009 2:30:28 PM
^^no, you're wrong, and you will soon discover this once you get past a few more chapters.the quality of the story is pretty good for the first hour or so, but it's very obvious when they give up on it and realize they're a few weeks away from publishing. then the game kinda ends, and had you paid $60 for this (because you were excited when it came out), you'd be all like "i paid $60 for this? i want the rest of the game!"which is totally different from the feeling you get when you play the OTHER parkour/free-running game, Assasin's Creed, where you're actually free to run through a city instead of the free-running-on-rails that this game delivers. the difference with the ending in that game, is, you win, and you're all like "yay i won", and then they're like "oh also there's going to be a sequel to it someday maybe"

I'm on Chapter 9, which I believe is the last chapter...its a fun game though...but I'm also glad I rented it...also the downloadable levels don't look like something I would get even if I had bought the game...they are more like Marble Blast Ultra levelsbut it sounds like I should check out Assassin's Creed, which I still haven't played
4/20/2009 6:36:54 PM
When you play Assassin's Creed and you're out in the open world make sure you slow your horse down to 2 mph whenever you get within 50 yards of any NPC, otherwise you'll have the infantry after you. Running the horse is right out. Normal walking of the horse will also raise suspicion. You'll have to get off the horse and push to be safe.AC has its issues, still better than Mirror's Edge though.[Edited on April 21, 2009 at 7:43 AM. Reason : -]

^lol I loved it when there was a formation of like 12 guards and you just run through them on the horse at full speed. They get PISSED.
