Gotta go vote--I'm sure you want my voice to be heard, right? BTW, while I'm gone, why don't you ponder just how undemocratic superdelegates are--I mean, if the popular vote is really what matters, why are superdelegates even needed?

yeah i made a thread back during the most recent congressional elections about showing ID...iirc most people were not asked to show ID...I still dont understand why they wouldnt implement requiring showing an ID...i think the only reasons I got were if somebody moved and didnt have the right address on their license or something, they'd have to get a new license...some reason i didnt think was that strong

Actually in NC unaffiliated voters are the only ones that have the option of "crossover". Otherwise you're locked into voting in the primary with the party you're registered as. But I see what you're saying,

Um. . .yeah. Do you even know what Operation Chaos is?

Quote :
"Dubbing the effort 'Operation Chaos,' Limbaugh says he intends to continue to encourage his listeners to vote for whomever is behind in the Democratic primary, to sow chaos and disunity among Democrats during a divisive primary battle. Limbaugh then began to advocate that his Republican listeners vote for Clinton, something the rules of the Texas primary permitted. According to a county volunteer, one voter declared 'Rush Limbaugh sent me', another 'I am voting for Hillary Clinton but I want to see the Democrats implode,' and a great many others mentioning Limbaugh.

In Ohio, Limbaugh similarly encouraged his listeners to re-register as Democrats and vote for Clinton. Although Ohio does not use an open primary, voters who change their registration must attest that they support the principles of the party to which they switch. About sixteen thousand Ohio Republicans switched parties for the election. The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections announced that, at the urging of Democrat Sandy McNair, the cross-overs would be investigated. Later, the Ohio Attorney General's office stated that it would be hard to prosecute anyone for falsifying a change of registration, because of the difficulty of proving a voter's fraudulent intent.

Limbaugh has said that 'The dream end of this [of Operation Chaos] is that this keeps up to the Convention, and that we have a recreation of Chicago 1968 with burning cars, protests, fire, and literal riots and all of that, that is the objective here.'"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rush_Limbaugh

In any event, in order for me to "crossover," I would need to be crossing over from some party. As an unaffiliated voter, I can declare as I choose--no need for a crossover.

I don't get it, what is the problem here?
Your party registration has little to nothing to do with your actual party preference. You can be a registered democrat and vote republican every single year. In fact, I don't see why more people don't register for the opposite party and help to screw up the opponen't's primaries. It's a much more effective tactic than voting up your own guy...

You seriously think there wasn't a grassroots effort within the Democratic Party in 2000 to disrupt the Republican nomination process?

Rush has somewhere between 20-25 million listeners nationwide, many of them in states that do not have open primaries. I'm sure it flatters him to think he has so much power...reminds me, in a way, of how some leftists paint Bush as an evil genius one minute and then a complete idiot the next...

Like I said, you can't get mad at people when they're simply playing by the rules. Besides, what truly matters here? I thought getting out the vote and "making your voice heard" is the most important thing. I didn't know people had to validate their reasons for voting too...

^ You're suppose to vote for someone that represents you, not try to game the system.

It's because of people like you that our legal system is so large and pervasive. You have no personal sense of ethics, and you don't care about the rule of law, or order, so we have to construct elaborate processes to weed out the dirtbags that don't want to play fairly.

It's one thing to recognize that the system is not fair, and never has been, but it's another then to embrace this aspect to make things worse.

LOL ethics? Get off your high horse. Don't get all uppity and angry because people are voting for the candidate that you do not support. And believe it or not, people in those states have every right to vote in whichever primary they choose, and they don't owe you a fucking explanation as to why.

I know you're dense, but clearly we're not talking about the people that legitimately are voting for Clinton. We're talking about people voting for Clinton as an arm of "Operation Chaos," and you'd be a fool to presume they don't exist.

The problem is that I understand the system, and you can't get upset when people are simply playing by the rules. You're pissy that I'm not jumping on the bandwagon getting all uppity about it. The states have every right to decide who votes in their primaries, and if they don't like it they can change it. It's called the democratic process. And until that time people can vote for any reason they so choose without feeling the need to explain or validate their reasoning or method for voting, because people are free to choose without fear of recourse or discrimination. It's a novel concept I know, but I think it'll catch on.

I'm sorry that not everybody who voted in the democratic primary is a racist Wright worshipping Obama voting fanatic like you are, but hey, that's life.

You can get upset. OJ Simpson was playing by the rules in court, wasn't he, yet people were still upset. Just because something is legal doesn't mean its right, or at least that's what people are saying in the other thread: http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=525041&page=1

Sure get upset, try to change it, I don't really care either way. Like I said, it's up to the states to decide who votes in the primaries. But that doesn't change that people shouldn't have to give a reason for wanting to vote. That's entirely up to the individual and not for a know it all elitist individual to decide for them.

So do you support or not support someone, on a personal level, making the decision to instead voting for the person that democratically represents them, they try and screw with another party's process?

And no one's really asking (not in a meaningful way anyway) who they voted for and for what reason. It's actually the reason this problem will continue, because it's extremely difficult to prove in court what a voter's intent was without them admitting it. The issue is that people shouldn't try to cause chaos, because its wrong (as is implicit in the title of the operation).

^ in your view, if someone else does something wrong, it's okay? If you lived in New Orleans, you would have been right their looting with everyone else, right?

Knowing that politics is immoral and unfair is completely different from wanting it to change. Men know that as they get older, their hair will probably fall out or turn gray... but doesn't mean they don't spend millions on Rogaine and hair dye. People wanting things to change has nothing to do with accepting how things are or have been.

Come on.

Things don't change on their own. If everyone thought like that, then when women were complaining about rights, you'd be saying "oh but people can't change, this is just how things are" or when blacks wanted the right to vote "oh those blacks won't ever vote, that's just how it is." If you look at any movement, it starts somewhere, usually with someone talking about how they think something should change.
