if you want 3rd party apps:
iJailbreak was simple as pie if you can get on a mac for 5 minutes. Install on the computer, plug in iPod, run iJailbreak, hit a couple buttons and you can do what you like with it. it does void warranty as it modifies the firmware, so you should never update once you do it (you would restore to factory settings, update, then re-break it). sadly that's just how it is for the time being if you want 3rd party apps. in June it's supposed to have a new firmware update that's $20 last i heard that supports 3rd party apps through Apple's own installer ( an app store with commercial and free apps). there are other methods to jailbreak your touch, that's just the one i've used.

Well, since I have the iPod touch, it seems I won't be able to simply enable disk access.

Gonna try some more 3rd party apps. None so far have worked. Will update...

the disk access is a pretty slick trick. i didn't know about that, i thought you always had to use the 3rd party programs
