Who says I'm better? But it beats taking some huge overarching blanket bullshit nihilist statement about good and decent men and women of our US government.Say and spin and yank on what you want to about any of them, but Clinton, Obama, and McCain's lives of public service are like an elephant on the scales compared to you or I's green pea.

The same way every politician does, by ass-kissing and making promises to wealthy groups.Although I will give credit to Obama for raising a lot of money in small donations. His fundraising skills are impressive. [Edited on April 23, 2008 at 4:47 PM. Reason : 2]

He was 8 when that guy did that. That's that, you can't make any mountains out of that molehill. And who gives a flying shit about his pastor. Are you some super Christian that it offends you that his chruch has a dude spouting out bullshit criticism that portends as the brimstone 'godly criticism' at his worst moment? It isn't the first time pastors do that, it's not the last.Or maybe you're just really catty and you worry about stupid stretch associations that have nothing to do with ability to lead and be president? I've never brought up John Hagee for instance with McCain...but that's an association almost as bad or worse, and McCainACCEPTED his endorsement for fear of upsetting the ridiculous evangelicals and their votes.

I guess I'm of the opinion that Obama is not really religious but has to use it as a front to run for office. I get the sense when he talks about it that he's one of the more intellectual types that gets that religion is all tales, stories, and fear, with some good lessons thrown in but more bad to outweigh them. And that doesn't bother me as all as I'm agnostic and could give a shit what religion our president or any official has. It has no place in government as far as i'm concerned. Can't run for president with that ethos though, so Obama chose the wrong church. I can concede he should have seen that coming though. That's the only area at which I will say he had a little bad judgement....
4/23/2008 5:17:32 PM
^^Who cares? Wright's name was drug through the mud by Fox News. You don't know him, you know the 15 second clips they took from 30 years of preaching. I haven't heard 1 person, black or white, who knows the man PERSONALLY say ANYTHING bad about him! The closest was Obama saying he was bitter from growing up in an are where he couldn't even sit next to your dad on the bus.[Edited on April 23, 2008 at 5:19 PM. Reason : ]
4/23/2008 5:19:04 PM
^^i'm an agnostic toojust seems like at some point over the years, when obama heard wright bashing whites and bashing the US and coming up with ridiculous claims, he'd realize that he "chose the wrong church" (I'll bet his wife actually chose the church...women...lol) and try to cut ties...doesn't seem like it would take him 20 years or however long he's been attending that church to realize it^wow, are you seriously still trying to act like wright isnt a racist and is a good person? holy shit...i figured most Obama supporters had realized that by now]

4/23/2008 5:28:10 PM
Terp wont admit that wright is racist.. but again wont address the US of KKK or that whites created HIV to kill blacks.... nah, thats not racist. LOLBut you better not say Obama is a good speaker... hot damn there is some racism. Terp, I know I give you alot of shit. My gut feeling is you are a pretty nice guy. You are just SO emotional over your candidate that you tend to really contradict yourself and blow off reason.

oh i was going on either you think what wright said is racist or not
4/23/2008 8:53:47 PM
^ that's silly, no one is saying that. In fact why is race coming up in this exactly? I don't think it has shit to do with shit. Except for the Wright thing and the black demographic vote being so overwhelmingly Obama...naturally some guarded white people, and yes, racist white people get intimidated.Look - Wright just said some stupid bullshit, as do a billion preachers I hear. When I was a kid my parents made me go to this vile baptist church and there was this complete asshole preacher that said some real fucking zingers about sororities being full of whores (ok maybe that's true. lol) and gays needing to burn in hell, and all sorts of bullshit. In fact evangelicals like Hagee are worse! I remember watching these guys out in Colorado Springs (that have the GOP's votes by the way) in a movie documentary out a year or two ago called Jesus Camp, and they were FAR SCARIER than Wright.....people made Wright look like a cinnabon.I'll never forgot these crazy evangelists and their sadistic jesus camp indoctrinated kids had a cardboard cut out of Bush and did a prayer to bush daily. Unbelievable. To your point treetwista, I think that Obama didn't realize it was THAT bad. I really don't think he realized or knew the height of it. And partially I bet you money is because if you logged his chuch attendance, you'd find he was hardly in the pews! (which goes back to my point about it being a front for him being religious as an necessity). And even when he was in the pews, those soundbytes were likely the worst the guy said over a 30 year career. He was an ex-marine and all, he did serve his country. Oh well. Not saying I'm agreeing with the statements, but come on people - let's grow some backbones and not be so pussy about this situation and 'OMG CONCERN ASSOCIATONSTHAT OBAMA SEES IT LIKE HIS CHURCH'S PREACHER'Sigh. Doesn't matter, I will not change anyone's mind...more talking to myself. [Edited on April 23, 2008 at 9:11 PM. Reason : -][Edited on April 23, 2008 at 9:15 PM. Reason : 3]

no, I gathered my opinion from the fact you went to college, work, and you are trying to better yourself by going to law school. Those are good qualities.Like I told you before, I do think you act very immature at times. Sure I think you blow off reason. You chase your tail around trying not to answer or admit guilt if it is associated with your candidate. Rev wright NOT being racist... claims he spoke out about whites controlling america..thats all. Then ignore the comments I posted earlier.Ive been pretty clear. I dont want either socialist to win. I get emotional over my income, not emotional over defending a candidate. You dont like mccain? Me either. I dislike him less than the marx brothers...er sister..whatever.
4/23/2008 9:26:48 PM
I actually do like McCain at times, and I think overall he's a better person than Hillary Clinton (who doesn't?)I just disagree with the fundamentals of the "conservative" economics - which on average has netted us TONS more national debt in my lifetime. You say democrats are fiscally irresponsible, but I believe it's the conservatives who are; who pays off the national debt? who earns money off the treasury bonds that fund our deficits? Mostly rich people. blah blah rich republicans blah blah crazy religious republicans, blah blah blah - damn i get tired or repeating myselfTHEN THERE IS THE WARSo, I guess I would have to vote for Hillary between her and McCain because of these 2 huge disagreements I have with McCain... other than that, I think the guy's awesome. 4/23/2008 9:42:02 PM
Nice reasonable arguement. kudos.First let me say I dont consider W to be anything close to conservative. He did cut taxes..good. But then introduced massive spendings, including a massive NEW entitlement program while running deficit. Totally unacceptable..Totally. Then you have the amnesty bill, again totally unacceptable.Who pays off our national debt? The real answer is NONE OF THEM. Clinton borrowed against SS to get the "surplus" its basically cooking the books. But that money is just borrowed for future generations to pay off.The main reason I cant support either dem is the massive spending. If we had a politician that said, we are terribly in debt. WE need to cut spending across the board and raise taxes across the board to get out of this mess" He would have my support, bc that is just what needs to happen. But to admit we are in serious debt, and propose MASSIVE NEW programs and spending is just ridiculous. Esp when thier palpable tax the "rich" proposals will only bring in a fraction of the amount. EIther they are lying on the programs, or lying about how is taxed and how much. Either way I dont like it.There was a republican senator that proposed a budget admendment to actually fund some of obama's proposals, showing how ridiculously expensive they are. The amendment, which Allard calls “The Obama Spend-o-Rama” proposes funding 111 of the 188 spending proposals put out so far during Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) Here is the linkhttp://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=25496I think you will just dismiss it, but it does illustrate just how costly and impractical these proposals are.

You guys are crazy Wright can't be racist.....only white people can be racist. I think that Rat had a good point on page 1 that Hillary is winning and doing better in the states the Dems need to take the election. You know it doesn't matter which one wins the nomination some states (see: North Carolina and most of the South) are voting for McCain.
4/24/2008 2:52:52 AM
*words below*I am really amazed at how much weight is being given to Pastor Wright's comments, with respect to Obama. People are so caught up on things Obama (the actual candidate, btw) didn't even say. Is/was Wright kind of crazy? Probably. Were his comments downright ridiculous? Yes. Does that have anything at all to do with Obama being a worthy candidate to be president? Absolutely not. Think about it. Look at TWW as a whole. There is so much stupid, racist, sexist, pornographic (including a dash of child porn), and plainly insensitive content on here... sometimes I can't believe I still log on. But I do. And so does everyone else on here. So if you were running for some office, applying for a job, trying to date someone, etc.; how would you take it if the decision-maker looked at this website and thought, "OMG, look at all of the trash and smut on that message board... and he/she is a registered member by choice? He/she is obviously not fit for this office/job/date." Because some people (in his case, one person) you choose to be associated with are off their rocker, has absolutely no bearing on who you are as a person in any way, shape or form. Now if he was his personal advisor, assistant or something like that... then maybe it would be relevant. But his pastor? Really? If you don't like Obama or his policies or whatever - fine. But to make it be about comments his pastor said? Come on. I like Obama because I believe in what he is saying. I agree with many of his views/goals and how he plans to achieve them. Most of America could benefit from better gov't programs and assistance, but there's no free lunch. I, for one, am more than willing to pay taxes to have them. I think of it as being in the same family as "paying dues" in any other association or group. With the state of the economy, the value of the US dollar, the housing market, unemployment (jobs going overseas), and yes - the infamous gas prices... I don't see how anyone can say Bush has done a good job. (Not even taking into account the war itself). But this all is my opinion. That's all. Agree or not, I'm entitled to it as much as you are to yours, so flaming is not necessary.[Edited on April 24, 2008 at 6:48 AM. Reason : .]

This is basically the deal here.
4/24/2008 7:48:30 AM
Why cant Obama win the big states???? Why is he winning SOLID republican states that neither Hill or him have a snowballs chance in hell in winning in the General (ie ALL the south, sorry, McCain will beat either by double digits in all the states Obama won in the South). Heck, he is winning states that he has no chance AGAINST McCain. Hills voters will probably vote for McCain and then Obama will get creamed and when McCain is like 100 in 4 years Hill will run again on a "I told you so" tour.....he cant bring CHANGE unless he is ELECTED which he has a very very difficult path. Even Hill has a difficult path but not as difficult as Obama. Fl is in play with Hill, not for Obama.and race is playing a issue in this, if his name was Bob White, he wouldnt have a chance, and he wouldnt be getting 90% of the african american votes. Hill, is getting the racist old farts and educated voters. Sad to say, but the people that vote the most arent the young in Obama's corner, it is the old folks (happens every presidential election, OMG, the young people are coming out to vote....OMG.....and it never happens)
4/24/2008 8:04:18 AM
I think people are making a mistake when they think that McCain will sweep the South. Obama is energizing a lot of new voters, a lot of black voters, and the South is the blackest part of the country in terms of both straight numbers and percentages. According to the 2000 US census, 18.5% of the South self-identifies as African American, the North-east comes in second at 11.0. There are 15.8m self-identifying blacks in the South vs. 5.7m in the midwest (the next closest). No non-metropolitan area outside the South exceeds 25% black population. Hell, Mississippi alone is 37% black. Given the historical trend of literally 98% of the black vote going to Democratic candidates, if Obama wins only 1/3 of the white vote he'll carry Mississippi. Not that Miss is a powerhouse state, but Republicans can't count on the old Confederacy to be a lock-up for them. Virginia will probably go for Obama, North and South Carolina will be close. This election will revolve around turnout, and right now Obama is turning them out.And you're all fools to assume politics has anything to do with what a candidate believes in, if they believe in anything.]
4/24/2008 8:16:12 AM
WHAT DOES LOSING A "BIG STATE" TO HILLARIOUS CLINTON IN THE PRIMARIES HAVE TO DO WITH THE GENERAL ELECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Somebody explain to me how losing PA, TX, OR means he will lose them to McCain in the general election!!!I dont get it.
4/24/2008 9:07:18 AM
especially when both hillary and obama have turned out more votes than mccain (or any other republican) in basically every primary
4/24/2008 9:08:14 AM
Actually, Barack won TX - Hillary is just saying she won it b/c she loves twisting the rules to work in her favor
4/24/2008 9:24:23 AM
People also forget that Obama will put the Mountain West at play more than anyone is taking into account right now. Obama is clearly a stronger contender in Colorado, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nevada, and Iowa, maybe even Virginia....Louisiana, Georgia are possibilities. NC a stretch. What will matter is how he can perform in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, and Missouri. I think if he puts 2 of those in his column he'll beat McCain. I think there's a fair shot he can. He'll have to keep Michigan blue though...
4/24/2008 10:52:52 AM
WHERE IS YOUR MOCHA COLORED GOD NOWSeriously, if this primary has shown us anything, it's that Obama is extremely vulnerable. Obama gets the spoiled white elitist young liberal vote and the black vote. Every other demographic is Hillary's and a good number of those are Reagan Democrats (you know, the kind of people who turn to God and guns, oh my!11!!!). Spin and rationalize all you want, but Obama is a walking wounded candidate who can't close the deal, considering how he lambasted the airwaves in PA and still got his ass handed to him.
4/24/2008 11:35:09 AM
Got his ass handed to him? When where? Hillary had a 20 point lead. He managed to cut that in half in a month, with all the negativity floating around.People keep saying, he cant close the deal. What is the deal??? What deal is he supposed to be closing? Hillary has stated plenty of times she is running til the end. Obama says she has the right to run til the end. So what deal is he supposed to be closing??Winning the popular vote, number of states, and number of delegate........ the deal has already been closed
4/24/2008 11:52:46 AM
4/24/2008 11:53:43 AM
He cant force her to drop out. All he can do is continue to get votes and delegates, which he is doing. He is far enough head to where she cant catch up. PERIOD!! its simple math. This is why Clinton supporters are clinging to "she won big states" and "she is more electable". When in fact winning a big state in a primary doesnt have shit to do with winning it in the general election. And polls show he is more electable.
