^^ someone being late would not bother me in the least. NO matter WHAT happens your gonna wait. Plain and simple. Doctors or rather Doctors office managers screw you over by overcharging for EVERYTHING and not being up front with patients about cost until its too late. So I know two wrongs don't make a right but it is the one single thing that I can control when it comes to my healthcare, which is retarded since I am uninsured and I pay CASH, but nonetheless its all I can control so I do it.

That still doesn't make it any better.

"maybe 80% of the people are now late because they constantly see that you guys are running late"I have to concur. Not once has a Doctor had the courtesy of being on time, or calling me to come in 2 hours late because his walk ins were high this morning. Anything I can do to make a Dr.'s schedule comepletely fucked up, and his return home to cold dinner 4 hours late is a victory for common man.

I'll show up on time when he sees me on time. If he has a walk-in patient going over my time kick his ass out and see me.
4/21/2008 11:12:41 PM
don't make me wait in the room by myself for 20 minutes for the doctor to waltz in and i will have a stronger sense of urgency to get there on time...have the doctor show the same courtesy by starting the appointment on time

Jesus Christ, it's clear that some of you dumbasses have never worked in a doctor's office before. More often than not it is tardy, inconsiderate patients that start clunking up the schedule and force everyone else to wait. Granted it's not always their fault, a lot of times it can depend upon the doctor's style (whether he likes to sit with his patients and talk about all their problems or whether he's trying to rush them out the door to see the next patient). But I've seen too many times when people show up late, then want to know why we've rescheduled them.

make sure everyone is clear on the $25 no show fee.some offices give a warning the first time, and write a card and say in person that the next time they will be charged.and yeah, like everyone has been saying, people are going to be late. and yeah, make sure the Doc isnt running late and thats why people tend to show up late because they know they will not be seen on time.give your patients a quick survey before they leave or something to get some feedback on why they were late, or why they are/were upset.and a lot of times the Doc cant help being late, if the patient has a lot of Q's that no one else can answer, you cant just tell them "hey its time to go"... sometimes you'll have to offer them a discount of some sort for waiting a long time. you pretty much need to do anything to make these people repeat customers.

Simple solutionAlways ask to be scheduled 1st each time you need to go to the doctors office. This may mean pushing your appointment back a few days, but if it's just a checkup or physical it doesn't matter all too much. If you are the first or 2nd person of the day you should be able to be be seen on time if you arrive on time.

If the doctor was rushing you pricks out the door to see his next patient on time, you'd be in here bitching even worse.Shut the fuck up, and do the next patient a favor and arrive on time.

"maybe 80% of the people are now late because they constantly see that you guys are running late"yes. i'm way impatient anyway, so sitting in a waiting room watching the clock tick 15 minutes, 30 minutes and then 45 minutes PAST my appointment time with "with no apology or excuse" pisses me the hell off. how hard is it for, well you (as i'm assuming you are a receptionist or something) to poke your head out of your glass box and say "excuse me, ms. x? Thank you for your patience, I realize our doctor is running behind schedule, but I just wanted to let you know he will be with you within 10 minutes"do that next time, it will get you far. in fact, i might even be compelled to buy you lunch if you did that for me.

I do regularly tell people when the doc is running late. But it's very hard to know that the doctor will see you "within 10 minutes". I can't guarantee that. For all I know, the doctor could be out of the room he's currently in within 5 minutes, or 45 minutes. And can you imagine how pissed off you'd be if you were constantly interrupted to ask "when will you be done?". So I try my best to inform people if I KNOW the doc is running late, but he could be on time when you show up and get delayed with the patient right before you. It's a crapshoot. Just realize that doctors try their best, and there's no reason for you not to either.

I love how so many people in this thread think it's okay to be late. Some people talk about how they are always late to things.I don't understand. Maybe 5 mins late to things or even 10. But I don't put up with people being late with me. If I tell someone I'll meet them at such and such time I'll wait for at most 20 mins (If I like the person) after I say we'll meet. I know there are situations (some that I've been in) which you can't control that will make you late. If after the time I wait I haven't gotten a phone call from them I leave, and call them while I'm leaving to let them know I'm leaving. If they call me and tell me that they were gonna be a little late, then if I don't have anything else to do, I'll wait for them, but if I'm on a schedule I'll tell them that I have other things I need to do.I hate being late myself, if I tell someone I'll be somewhere at a certain time, I either get their earlier or right on time. I hate waiting on people.

one surefire way to make sure they are never late again is to wait in the alley behind your office and inject them with arsenic when they leave.if you do this, you will feel much better about them having inconvenienced you. They probably deserve to die anyway.

I was sitting in an overcrowded waiting room with my mom one time. People were visibly annoyed. After about 45 minutes had passed she started chatting with the person beside her. It turned out that the person beside her was scheduled for an appointment with the same doctor at the same time as her. More people chimed in and it turned out that several people were all scheduled for the same time. WTF kind of office management is that? Were they counting on people to not show up? Either way, we got burned and I doubt she ever went back to that doctor.
