If any fellow slacker non working folks are planning to go to Greensboro tomorrow, you can probably ride with me if you want. I think we're gonna hit Morning Times at 8:30 then immediately drive to the Coliseum to get tickets there.

Yeah, I think I'm going to hit Morning Times at 830. I hope it's not necessary to camp out. If anyone does go early, can they post in the morning on what the line is like?

I was going to do that w/ the Morning Times, but their tickets aren't distributed until Saturday. By the way I read it, they can be picked up during early voting tomorrow, so I'm going to go to the DAP and pick them up there at 7 am.

I don't wanna take the chance of them being given away and then left with few to give away at Morning Times on Saturday.

Where does it say that? It clearly says "Tickets can be picked up in Forsythe, Guilford, Randolph, Almanace, Orange, Durham, and Wake Counties at the following locations during early voting hours starting Thursday April 24"

Morning Times is one of those locations, so I assume they'll have tickets at 8:30 tomorrow morning.

and I have class at 8:30 tomorrow morning.

^ sorry, I misread it.

The way the hours were listed, it appeared as if the Morning Times tickets weren't distributed until a later date --- sorry for any confusion.

Just ignore my post, re-read StillFuschia's post and all should be cleared up, Wilso.

I am at work, half distracted and misread the information.

my g/f just went by morning times cafe and they actually don't know what's going on yet because they haven't gotten a call from whomever is running it yet. They said for her to call back later.

I did find this out from the Morning Times ---

they will begin handing out tickets at 8:30 am and you can ONLY get a ticket if you have proof that you participated in early voting.

If you've already voted then why would they want you at the rally lol

How the fuck do you prove you voted?

weird, I wonder how you'd get proof

plus the only place in Wake county open for that right now is at the Board of Elections office

which coincidentally also opens at 8:30

if you're unaffiliated, you can still vote in the democratic primary

if you're just not registered, that also isn't a problem

^^For what it's worth, unaffiliated voters can vote in the Democratic primary.

But yeah, it's pretty lame

well it didn't say you had to vote for him

it just said you have to prove you voted

but someone should ask how you could prove such a thing (maybe one of those "I voted" stickers? LOL)

I guess the solution, if they're truly doing that, is vote at BOE at 8:30, then walk two blocks to Morning Times

god bless the north raleigh schoolkids

got me two tickets to see SP at the cradle with only 30 minutes of campout

because the badass who worked there printed out 150 right when the system opened

and then just sold them by hand

haha, I promise the confusion is unintentional.

This was the email I received from the writer of a blog in regards to the show:

Quote :
"hey -- just back from Morning Times, where they said they're supposed to hand out tickets at 8:30 am Thursday. they also said something about having to provide proof you've voted early & if that's the case, I'm SOL because I voted yesterday & didn't get anything but a sticker that I already threw away. oh well..."

You do NOT have to vote for Obama, whoever insinuated that, lol. They just want proof that you've voted early.

ETA --- personally, if true, I don't see how they'll enforce this as people will be lined up out the ass for these tickets
Now, whether they actually enforce this or not, who the hell knows. I was just passing along the information.

The Obama thing was just a joke, obviously, but this is a valid question: if they want everyone at the rally to have voted already, why are they having a rally?

I called the Obama campaign Raleigh office and spoke to the person who will actually be at Morning Times tomorrow handing out the tickets. She has no idea how many tickets they will have (way to plan), but they'll be there at 8:30 am.

And you do NOT have to vote to get a ticket -- they just want to encourage people to vote. (The Wake County Board of Elections office is about two blocks away from Morning Times, hence the location choice.) The people at Morning Times I talked to today I guess were misinformed about that.

It's gonna be a clusterfuck.

I guess my other question is this:

When planning this on short notice, did they not realize they were coming into an indie rock hotbed?

It didn't make sense to me either, man. I'm just telling you what the people at Morning Times originally said.

I'm fairly sure they also have no idea WTF is going on. Don't shoot the messenger, lol.

we're going at 6:30 to load up on coffee and wait until tickets are handed out

and i voted yesterday and instead of a normal "I Voted" sticker you now get "I Voted Early"

pretty lame if you ask me

i'm wondering if it's the type of thing where they will give away a ton of tickets, but only allow a small amount of people in.. kind of like those movie passes where they give out thousands but only the early people get in. i hope this is the case because my car is in the shop and i have no way to get to the times tomorrow morning! fuck

my buddy had a table and got there around 7:45. I guess I got there around 7:55 and just sat with him. The line pretty much doubled from 7:45-8:15

I'd say there were 60 or so people when I left. they had a whole box of tickets, so it seems as though there were plenty to go around
