you know, i consider myself to be just as liberal as the next guy here in the city of Seattle...but yet, i dont think i've ever listened to Air America. I've never listened Randi Rhodes, not even once: I wouldnt recognize her if she came up and slapped me.I dont even /know/ anyone who listens to Air America. Except for one dude when I worked at Microsoft, but he wore a beret.now, as a liberal who likes to consider himself reasonably well-informed, i do listen to BBC, NPR and Democracy Now, i read various mainstream news and magazines (including WSJ) ... and, when im in the mood for idiocy, i occasionally even listen to the local moonbat conservative ranters on KTTH 770 ( "The Truth" )but I honestly wouldn't know but a fraction about Air America if it wasn't for hooksaw alternately railing about their station and whatever Rosie O'Donnell is doing.I mean, am I missing something here? When did Air America come to represent the voice of progressive politics? who even listens to them? Besides people like Hooksaw and the writers for Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly, that is.see here's the thing. Most conservatives somehow NEED a voice of authority to tell them what to think about things. Hence the plethora of rabidly right-wing talking head radio and tv pundits getting their audiences all lathered up in a rabid froth. But there just is no liberal counterpart. Why? because liberals (at least the ones I know) tend to synthesize news from a variety of sources and come to our own conclusions.so, I'm sorry, hooksaw. No one cares about (or even listens to) Air America except you and the Fox News crowd.[Edited on April 7, 2008 at 5:05 PM. Reason : ]

Yeah, I've always been of the belief that the left was doing ok in electoral politics without an answer to right-wing radio programs which, from my observations, usually involve a lot of slobber and screaming and talk about why (insert celebrity talking head here) hates America. Most of my exposure has come from WPTF and whatever the conservative talk station is in Tampa and from it I've learned that Michael Savage is a closet homosexual, the nighttime guy on WPTF likes to scream a lot about nothing in particular, and Glenn Beck revels in his own drunken stupor. Of course, this comes from a handful of instances, so who knows. I tend to catch NPR Morning Edition for the AM drive and that's about it. I have more of an obsession with magazines. I try to read The Atlantic, Mother Jones, and The Economist, and sometimes National Review or American Conservative when it's not just Jonah Goldberg ranting about LIEberals and Darwin or Pat Buchanan being his racist self.A friend of mine met Kevin Dubrow once in Tampa when Quiet Riot was opening for Sebastian Bach, I think, and my ex-gf got to meet Sebastian Bach here in Raleigh. Ok, this thread is now for discussing encounters with 80's metal.[Edited on April 8, 2008 at 12:25 AM. Reason : .]

I once met a guy who exclusively listened to 80s metal. Weird dude.

well, i sure as hell don't think poor people are poor because they're all a bunch of morons and welfare queens and I'm smart enough to realize that you helping one person fix their life is noble and good but a drop in the cosmic bucket that can't be measured and shouting "BOOTSTRAPS, MOTHERFUCKER" does nothing to fix institutions and such. I have morals, and if you don't like those, I have other ones. Call them whatever you want. I'm just sick of posting them in threads where the discussion is not what should be done but rather what sort of bootstraps we should tell poor people to go buy.Furthermore, I forgot to post the pic I found of Mr. Saw:[Edited on April 9, 2008 at 8:33 PM. if he thinks Kevin Dubrow and Co., minus Randy Rhoads, was somehow better than Bruce Dickinson and the rest of Iron Maiden on Piece of Mind... well, he's fucking lost his mind.
4/10/2008 12:49:07 PM
^^ Like the old saying goes, if you can remember it, you weren't really there. ^ Again, with your lack of attention to detail, Schmoe. I never posted that Quiet Riot was "better" than Iron Maiden--I indicated that I enjoyed Quiet Riot's performance more. There's a difference. And there's this:Host Out at Air America

wow. you've really got a hardon for Air America don't you.so funny. maybe I'll just have to listen to them sometime. i wonder what station they're on.... are they like only on satellite radio, or are they on the AM dial somewhere?
4/11/2008 2:13:09 PM
^ No. I mean, I didn't need to have a "hardon" for Air America--they went bankrupt all on their own, remember? And, to be honest, I don't know if Air America is on satellite or terrestrial radio or both. I don't listen to them or Neal Boortz--but I know of both because I try to stay informed.
4/11/2008 3:16:37 PM
Why would you try to stay informed about Air America?
4/11/2008 3:17:22 PM
^ Um. . .for one thing, bad news about them is good news to me? Did you think before you posted that? Guess not.
4/11/2008 3:19:45 PM
How is bad news about a left wing radio station good news for you, personally?Do you find opposing viewpoints polluting the national airwaves physically repulsive?Or are you unable to exercise your God Given Right to not tune in and spend a majority of your time cursing liberalism and thus adversely effecting your every day life?[Edited on April 11, 2008 at 3:24 PM. ^ I welcome opposing viewpoints. If these viewpoints happen to be wrong--and in some cases dangerous--I welcome their failure, too.
4/11/2008 3:41:21 PM
How can a viewpoint be wrong?

I'd like you to go ahead and try an argue any viewpoint as being wrong without slipping into personal morality and ethics.

sounds like someone admits to being immoral and unethical
4/11/2008 4:30:26 PM
