Weird. Remember Duke's AD is at LSU now too, probably will make the hire. I can see why he would leave Stanford as far as recruiting, but this one is a surprise. Who the hell is gonna coach Stanford now?[Edited on April 9, 2008 at 2:27 PM. Reason : lsu]

people make too much out of what a school has done in the past. what does that have to do with now? NOTHING. i guess its because this is an ncstate message board and thats all we have to hold on to but you don't tali up all time wins championships and such and look at "tradition" (ya i'm questioning the credibility of the term) to decide which would be the best school to coach at. Silliness. Especially if a coach wants to make his own name for himself.
4/9/2008 3:07:57 PM
CalledToArms isn't talking about tradition. He's talking about this season. Get off your high horse, Earl.

So who are the underclassmen that have declared so far or will declare.HicksonGreene from SyracuseLove/Collison - reportedly, nothing officialBeasley - no way he staysBudinger and BaylessEric GordonSome dude from Miss State?Who else? Hickson will be lucky to go in the top 20.
4/9/2008 5:57:12 PM
^x4 Yeah I definitely like Purdue and forgot to put them in there. I've been high on the Baby Boilers for quite some time now, especially after watching a fair amount of their games, b/c a coworker of mine is a Purdue alum. I'd put them where Ohio State is at 16 and move Ohio State down in the 20s.
4/9/2008 6:43:44 PM
Tyler Smith may... he said if he is rated as a definite 1st rounder than he is going... his dad is dead and his family is poor as shit. From a playing standpoint I think he needs another year, but I cant really blame him. But it looks like he is staying for now..
4/9/2008 6:57:50 PM
I think i saw that ronald steele was going to declare w/ out an agent

Why was Maryland so high on that "historical rankings" poll?I know I'm from there and support them way more than I should, especially since the Terp-TDub niche is all terpball, but really, they only have two Final Fours and one National Title to their credit.
4/9/2008 7:35:25 PM
they had a lot of good teams, though.
4/9/2008 7:36:43 PM
4/9/2008 7:43:09 PM
^^^ if you notice 14-23 are all teams with 1 national championship. Like simonn said, they have had a lot of good teams throughout the years. After North Carolina, Duke, and State what are the most historical programs after that? Wake, Maryland, and Georgia Tech. ACCT Championships: Wake 4, UMD 3, GT 3. Final Fours: Wake 1, UMD 2, GT 2. National Championships: Wake 0, UMD 1, GT 0. It's pretty easy to see that Maryland is the fourth most historical program in the ACC. I'd say that warrants being in the Top 25.

http://www.auburn.edu/administration/facilities/arena/arena_main.htmAuburn's new arena, which will be opened in time for the 2010-2011 season. Why build an arena that's seats less than your current one? I've got to admit that I'm not to impressed by it.
4/10/2008 12:19:40 PM
It is Auburn, didn't they try to fire Tuberville the summer before they went undefeated?
4/10/2008 1:03:30 PM
^^Southern Cal's new arena seats 6,000 less than their old one- ~10,500. I think they sold out 1 game this year.
4/10/2008 1:09:38 PM
^^^ Auburn has a basketball team?I mean I figured they did, but I can honestly say this is the first I've ever heard of it.
4/10/2008 1:13:56 PM
haha, I just checked and their average home attendance is less than 5,400 per game. I don't know the exact # but they were worse than the top 100 schools...
4/10/2008 1:16:21 PM
So what's the predicted starting lineup next year? Degand/Javi/MaysFergie/Williams/JohnsonFells/ThomasSmith/Costner/HornerMcCauleyAt least we'll have more than one senior on our team with Fells and McCauley...
4/10/2008 1:34:06 PM
^^^^ yeah but that's a different situation. USC played in the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, an off-campus arena. USC built the Galen Center so that they could have an on-campus arena and keep more of the money.Auburn's Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum is on-campus and owned by Auburn, meaning they get all of the profit. I just think that they could use half of that $92.5 million to renovate, add on, and improve the building they have now.I found this funny.

haha. yea.
4/10/2008 2:57:36 PM
Yeah I saw that Parrish poll the other day. I'm going to stay as far from the Mainstream Media as possible this year. Their rampant retardedness is overwhelming.

4/10/2008 11:43:13 PM
since grant is gone, who's going to be the go-to guy to chuck it up at the end of games? T-Ferg?
4/10/2008 11:52:48 PM
Fells. I mean he was our man to shoot at the end of games too. Remember the botched play against GT where Javi was to pass it back out to Fells for a 3, but they ended up double teaming Fells and leaving Javi open for that airballed 3 pointer.

i don't think they're the number 2 team in the country eithernext year will be a weak year for college basketball though. so many early departures are gonna hurt big teams

Nike Hoop Summit tomorrow at 4:00 est on FSN. 10 US players from 2008 class vs. 10 International 19 and under players.http://www.primetimepdx.com/nhs/nhs_rosters.htmUmmm, UCLA didn't do too bad recruiting this year (4 of the 10 players)
4/11/2008 6:07:06 PM
they never do bad at recruiting. they run a bad offense for the talent they have
4/11/2008 8:42:18 PM
Gavin at the Portsmouth Invitational:
4/12/2008 11:01:08 AM
Gavin has had "intriguing athleticism" for 4 fucking years. It's nice that he developed the shot, too. He never developed leadership or killer instincts, though, that would have caused him to use his strengths to put pressure on the other team.
