call me naive, but do you guys think this level of sexism is accurate? Its insane. No doubt it existed, but i would have guessed at like.. 6/10ths the level this is showing. Its pretty over the top. I'm gonna call my grandma and ask.
9/14/2008 5:04:58 PM
Yes, it's accurate. Just talk to old guys at work.
9/15/2008 1:19:34 AM
This show was my favourite - last night I fell asleep half way. Sad, as they are losing viewers. With the emmys next week - will be interesting to see how many awards they actually do win.Looking like a one hit (one season) wonder.
9/15/2008 11:13:00 AM
^ Not quite...considering this is its second season.
9/15/2008 12:43:50 PM
i think the level of sexism is fairly accurate from what i've been able to tell. people with whom i've spoken have said that there were a variety of things that used to occur openly and publicly at work that would now have you fired and/or arrested. its an interesting change, in all honesty. also i expected more out of last nights ep, but will continue to watch because i really don't have anything else left to do during sunday nights at 10

The blond housewife is smoking hot.[Edited on September 16, 2008 at 2:05 AM. Reason : hahaha, her name is January Jones]
9/16/2008 2:04:55 AM
^and i like this show a lot. but it's often awkward as hell.
9/16/2008 11:57:07 PM
^it is often awkward. I'm on about ep 7 of season 1 now.. its getting a little repetitive w/ all the cheating/sex scenes. i'm ready for something interesting to happen.
9/17/2008 1:30:40 AM
They should focus more on the Ad game in the 60s, less on the cheating.
9/17/2008 11:13:11 AM
I like this show. Congrats to the writer from Mad Men that just won an Emmy for the pilot episode.
9/21/2008 10:29:17 PM
***Spoilerish***I'm on Ep 5 of Season 2, and it's interesting that Don called Peggy to help bail him out, and she still calls him Mr. Draper, takes care of his girlfriend and bends over backwards for him. It's definitely a sign of the times.holy crap, he knows about the baby V That is very true, this episode has been a huge one]
9/30/2008 4:37:51 PM
^it's more than a sign of the times. it's a reflection of the relationship between Don and Peggy. Don has helped her out in a big way and she deeply respects him and feels indebted to him.

I loved last weeks episode, happy for tonight's

I'm out - the last three were dull. Nothing (nothing) ever happens to these people. Makes General Hospital look good.

[no]

I enjoy the slow pace, because it makes you pay attention to the details (which are important and well done). But this show is obviously not for everyone.
10/6/2008 11:12:03 AM
i thought last night's was great
10/6/2008 11:40:11 AM
Shit's about to go down...
10/6/2008 5:43:04 PM
Yeah, I felt like last night's episode was slowly mounting lots of things further and further up. And the clip of next week's episode only made it seem more tense. Not that I ever expect this show to explode with multiple happenings in one episode, but the slow degradation of some and building up of others.
10/6/2008 7:44:27 PM
i would like to slowly mount Mrs. Draper, slowly degrade her, then explode
10/6/2008 10:05:54 PM
Yet agan impressed by Mad Men... but John Hamm's newest movie they were advertising...notsomuch...
10/13/2008 12:20:21 AM
so dull - WTF was it with that 16 year old he was jamming? Why do I keep watching this crap?[Edited on October 13, 2008 at 8:40 AM. Reason : dull]

i think you answered that with
10/15/2008 3:31:07 PM
good ep last night as well. got to learn a little bit more about Don and they highlighted some of the issues with Betty that were described in season one. Her child-like ways of acting out and handling situations. (e.g. the phone call with her friend and locking her daughter in the closet). I also liked the baptism thing they did at the end.
10/20/2008 2:07:27 PM
great great episode... i was kinda worried about this show, but i really like it now.. can't wait to see where they're going with the plot
10/21/2008 5:45:10 PM
I'm excited but also really sad that the season finale is Sunday.Good for Peggy, this last episode. But the scene with Joan was a shocker for me. Definitely wasn't expecting her fiance to be that creepy and domineering.

Simpsons spoof Mad Men and how has no one posted about the Finale? That had some crazy shit with Betty, and I almost feel bad for Pete]
10/29/2008 4:17:25 PM
looks like simpsons did it.also that season finale was rather good.i wonder when they'll pick up in the next season. if they'll transition as far ahead as they did for last season or not
10/29/2008 4:26:47 PM
will it be back for season 3? Ratings in the crapper.
10/29/2008 7:32:04 PM
Uhh...what? This season got almost double the ratings as it did last season. Ratings wise, it's never been better.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/28/mad-men-ratings-season-fi_n_138448.htmlBut yes, the show's been picked up for Season three. but Just today they announced they might have to continue the show without its creator Matthew Weiner, which would be horrible news, IMO.http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.com/lionsgate-must-be-staffed-by-mad-men/]
10/29/2008 9:10:45 PM
Aha, I was waiting for someone else to post about the finale first before I did. I'm more and more interested in the future of Peggy, and Pete (as separate people but we'll see what else happens), and of course Don and Betty. And I really thing Sal should come out sometime in the future. I just think that'd be fun to watch...I'd be VERY pissed if Weiner was taken off the show. F.T.L.Did anyone see Saturday Night Live last weekend? John Hamm hosted, and I think slowly but surely, NBC has been putting up more clips of the show. I missed it, but I've seen a few of the skits- he played the ghost of JFK on the Obama Variety Show, they did a "Don Draper's Guide to Picking Up Women" that was pretty funny, and I've seen a few others. Elisabeth Moss and John Slattery made guest appearances in a Mad Men spoof. Some of the skits]
10/30/2008 11:04:23 AM
I just started watching the first season a week ago.Peggy suddenly started wearing a fat suit and I don't care for that.
