I'm just angry Between the Buried and Me isnt on there.Clearly they should win it all
3/25/2008 1:11:21 PM
we should just take the concept of the bracket but vote on on the patricipantsWe'll serve as a selection committee of sortsFirst we have to decide on the four #1 seeds, then work from there
3/25/2008 1:11:35 PM
but the problem with that is that there will be no upsetsif we vote the four 1 seeds, we've already established them as the four bestso no one could upset them
3/25/2008 1:14:33 PM
haha i was just about to make that post.
3/25/2008 1:15:02 PM
Here I remade your bracket CalledToArms
3/25/2008 1:15:29 PM
yeah its kind of a pointless excercise if the same people who make the bracket vote on the results
3/25/2008 1:16:00 PM
Final Four - Zeppelin, Tom Petty, Incubus, Red Hot Chili PeppersEspecially heinous seedings - Clapton at 13, Bon Jovi at 4, U2 at 2 (Jesus Fucking Christ), Offspring at 14, Nickelback at 3... actually, almost all of the 00's bracket. The 00's bracket is weaker than a 12 year old's dick and the 70's bracket is stacked. I'm glad I don't live wherever this radio station's area is so I wouldn't be forced to listen to it. Any music institution that shows this homosexually poor lack of rock knowledge should be burned to the ground.
3/25/2008 1:16:32 PM
The 00s almost seem like they have the seeding in exact opposite
3/25/2008 1:17:24 PM
For me when it came down to selecting my picks it was based purely on who I would listen to if given the choice and if it was a tie who I thought was more likely to have a lasting impact or who is more influential. I am very much jaded that Neil Young didn't make an appearance on the bracket.
3/25/2008 1:17:36 PM
His era was stacked though.
3/25/2008 1:18:29 PM
Radiohead absent from the 90s is just insanity
3/25/2008 1:18:44 PM
3/25/2008 1:18:59 PM
3/25/2008 1:19:53 PM
I think we could make a rap bracketI think there's enough history there to make it workbut like rock, it would be stacked with the earlier yearsMaybe have the 4 brackets....80's, early 90's late 90's, 00'sand have groups and individuals exclsuive from each other...so d12 and Eminem could be two seperate entries, etc.
3/25/2008 1:20:46 PM
3/25/2008 1:21:20 PM
We could do that but rap sucks so its kind of a moot point
3/25/2008 1:23:54 PM
97 Rock or whatever the hell it was was a decent radio station about 10 years ago.[Edited on March 25, 2008 at 1:24 PM. Reason : .]
3/25/2008 1:24:08 PM
Stones win it. 83 style.
3/25/2008 1:36:07 PM
my bracket is the best
3/25/2008 1:37:27 PM
^ That's not a bad effort. I can't say I agree with Incubus going down in the first round though. That shit don't fly.
3/25/2008 1:40:17 PM
there's absolutely nothing in that bracket down there that warrants any attention. I'd probably hessitantly say white stripes and foo fighters...
3/25/2008 1:41:19 PM
Incubus goes down in the first round like they do on each other
3/25/2008 1:43:21 PM
Incubus is the Zeppelin of the 00's dude.
3/25/2008 1:44:09 PM
wat
3/25/2008 1:45:54 PM
3/25/2008 1:46:55 PM
wanna come play gamecube The Judge? thatll cheer you up
3/25/2008 1:53:07 PM
He really compared Incubus to LZ
3/25/2008 1:58:14 PM
My fault. I always try to compare past things to contemporary ones and I got some of the bands I think of mixed up because I was in a hurry to get to class.I meant to say that RHCP are the Led Zeppelin of our time. I don't care if you agree with that or not and I realize that they probably aren't as big as Led Zeppelin was in their prime, but I feel the quality of music they put out today is comparable to what LZ put out in the 60s/70s. I would say Incubus is an edgier contemporary version of Pink Floyd without Roger Waters' psychotic influence. The Offspring is like The Who.I realize that some of these bands don't match up completely in terms of style, but I like to make comparisons of my generation's music with past ones. It makes it seem less shitty overall.[Edited on March 25, 2008 at 3:55 PM. Reason : ]
3/25/2008 3:54:58 PM
does anyone actually listen to RHCP seriously? seems like they are just that token rock band to lighten up the mood
3/25/2008 4:06:45 PM
led zeppelin wins - the who or jimi in the first round? that's like two #1 seeds vs. each other
3/25/2008 4:26:35 PM
^^ A lot of people listen to them. Besides, when does being popular necessarily equate to being a good rock band? Some of the best bands ever were largely unappreciated in their own time.^ Like, I said, the 70s bracket is just fucking stacked.
3/25/2008 4:28:13 PM
Your name should be IMStoned247 because you have made comparisons that clearly must be under the influence of very very powerful hallucinogens. Pink Floyd to Incubus? You fucking kidding me? In the throes of his complete insanity Syd Barret mumbling to himself could come up with better material. Offspring compared to The Who? One band wrote The Seeker, the other made Pretty fly for a white guy.You try to make us not hate you by saying you aren't comparing them stylistically, but they can't be compared in any reasonable fashion.Report to hell where those guilty of such blasphemy reside.

Thank you alias with 242 posts per day. Your opinion matters greatly to me.

3/25/2008 5:20:39 PM
Oh snap! You're up to 244.
3/25/2008 5:21:36 PM
the bracket looks like it has a cheeseburger on top
3/25/2008 5:55:41 PM
this thread is one big lawlzfinal four: Floyd over Clapton, Tool over Alice, Metallica over U2 (closer than the experts think), Incubus over SOADBTBAM and Deftones lost their conference tournaments and didn't get at-larges, so they tore up the NIT, BTBAM in a squeakerDillinger Escape Plan or QOTSA would've been good for '00s
3/25/2008 6:24:03 PM
lol
3/25/2008 6:43:23 PM
my work computer was having trouble today...imagine that...here's my attempt at a mainstream rock station listener's bracket:
3/25/2008 6:51:35 PM
So is that your bracket or how you think the station would do it? Cuz if you picked Nickelback in the finals you automatically lose any credibility about anything forever.
3/25/2008 9:57:08 PM
Damn, Nickelback and Evanescence against eachother... that's too bad, neither of those bands deserve to make it past the first round.Going by any criteria besides mainstream popularity, most of these bands don't even need to be on the list.[Edited on March 25, 2008 at 10:04 PM. Reason : oh, someone's bracket, right.]
3/25/2008 10:03:55 PM
^^ i dont think you can read very well he stated more than once in his thread including in he exact post you are responding too that he made one guessing what the average mainstream radio station listener would pick, not what he would pick.
3/25/2008 10:08:38 PM
final 4 of zeppelin (barely over floyd), tool, beasties, & white stripes for me...though i think the 70s region is the real bracket
3/25/2008 10:15:03 PM
wow, looking at the 00's region closer, those choices are even worse than I thought.Going by my preferences:Final Four of Queen, Rush, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Foo Fighters.Rush vs RHCP for championship, can't pick a winner.Going by mainstream voting: Final Four of Led Zepplin, Guns'n'Roses, Nirvana, and Linkin Park.GnR vs LZ for championship, LZ would probably win.
3/25/2008 10:23:05 PM
and where is ratm?
3/25/2008 10:33:01 PM
^^^^ That's what I thought. I just had to make sure.
3/26/2008 10:16:16 AM
The brackets def need some tweeking but nobody here will ever agree on a list of bands so here are my final four picks and the winner:Led Zepplin/Nirvana, U2/(Jeebus I really don't want to pick, only because it is indicutive of the modern movement in music)ColdplayLed Zepplin/U2Led ZepplinA lot of the bands in the 80s bracket could be bumped up to the 90s bracket, 80s reorganized perhaps move a few of the 70s guys up to 80s, depends on if we are talking about decades when the music was at its peak of popularity or the founding date and I'd nuke that 00s bracket. It sucks that a lot of the guys in the 70s bracket will lose out early and the likes of Linkin Park will probably go deep.
3/26/2008 11:05:57 AM
^not a bad analysis
3/26/2008 11:25:47 AM
i'm going to stay away from the craptacularnes of the bracket, that has been established.Going on my current feeling toward the bands I'd have:Floyd over LZ in 70's(if this was a real ncaa bracket situation the announcers would be complaining how both these deserve to be in the final four but only one can make it.)Metallica over Ac/Dc in the 80's, but I'm thinking of the 80's Metallica for this.PJ over The Offspring(tourney shocker, 14 seed going far). Just not a RHCP fan, and I hate that Creed is even included in that region.Incubus over Disturbed in the 00s, Linkin Park's most recent CD has never made me go from liking a band to completly hating a band so much. I can't even listen to their older shit that I really enjoyed because of this last cd. They would have made the second round though because 3 doors down sucks just as much. PJ over Incubus, Floyd over Metallica, with Floyd winning.
3/26/2008 12:41:45 PM
just addressing the fact that someone scoffed over my choice of Queen over both Led Zepplin and Pink Floyd:First lemme preface by saying I *love* both Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin. I am not trying to knock them in any way. I just found it interesting that someone would be so surprised I picked them considering:
