Coming from NY here's some NC slang I've noticed:"fixin" -- i'm fixin' for some Bojangles right now"yall" - up north it was "you guys""git 'er done""preciate it" - seems to be the norm, rather than "thank you""going for a dip" doesn't mean jumping in the pool/lake, it means chewing tobacco"all the way" - up north when you got everything on your burger it was called "the works""bless your heart""having a barbeque" is not the act of cooking on the grill, it is called "having a cook out" and barbeque is a type of pulled porkdown south there is no such thing as a pizza "pie", it's just a "pizza"...i get shit for that one all the time[Edited on March 21, 2008 at 2:50 PM. "git 'er done" ~~~~ Nobody uses this except faggots who want to piss off yankee scum"preciate it" - seems to be the norm, rather than "thank you" ~~~~ come on now. nobody has ever said that up north"going for a dip" doesn't mean jumping in the pool/lake, it means chewing tobacco ~~~~ I'm starting to think you got this one from a chain mail letter"having a barbeque" is not the act of cooking on the grill, it is called "having a cook out" and barbeque is a type of pulled pork ~~~~ I can't tell if you've got this one right or not by the way it's phrased. But BBQ doesn't involve a "grill" of any kind and only faggots and texans call anything but pork "BBQ"

^nah man, i learned what "going for a dip" meant down here was when i said i was hot and could go for a dip right now (as in go for a swim), he pulled out a tin of Skoal's and i was confused

where i grew up, "having a BBQ" meant cooking hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill....and barbeque was simply called "pulled pork"
